The concept of ‘Disguise’ led me to consider the mystery surrounding angels and their human form. My final outcome was a dress that reflected my research and the theme of angels.
Experimenting with silhouette and detailing to explore the concept.
Developing the silhouette with draping and pleating techniques to introduce volume.
Constructing the corset, developing correct fit and finishing details by introducing volume to the sleeve with pattern manipulation.
I explored the theme of ‘Kimono’, I combined the element of earth and metal to create a modern Kimono with consideration to incorporating sustainable practice. I repurposed plastic bottles to create embellishments and I explored into tigers as a representation of the earth. Tigers play an important role in maintaining the earths eco systems, tigers remain endangered and are in need of protection.
Design development of the Kimono concept. Metallic gold is incorporated to explore the theme, developing surface pattern and embellishment ideas.
The concept of ‘Oversized’ was explored using shape, silhouette and fabric manipulation techniques. This influenced the development of volume and architectural form. I became inspired in part by natural forms, and the work of Iris Van Herpen.
I explored different design ideas, keeping in mind shape and placement. I incorporated colours taken from a natural source such as coral and terracotta.
The process of my ‘Oversized’ toile was explored through different compositions and formations to manipulate the overall shape with consideration to size and volume.
I explored the theme of ‘Architecture’, which inspired a range of fashion and textile design ideas. I illustrated this in my final outfit by showcasing structure and form to create an architectural silhouette. The techniques I explored included heat transfer print process, appliqué, pleating and boning.
Exploring the development of the design process focusing on structure, form and surface pattern.

Paper modelling techniques used to explore the garment development process. Silk screen and puff print processes were explored to further expand the design process.
Subtraction cutting techniques used to develop ideas of structure and drape.
Initial printing research, drawing and mark making exploring historical and contemporary architecture.
