HELLO NEW RESIDENTS!
The Welcome Committee wishes
“welcome” you to Del Tura by hosting a table at our Coffee Socials every Tuesday beginning at 8:30 with a Welcome Session to share information about our community and North Fort Myers with you immediately following the meeting.
Please come join our table right inside the front door to the Ballroom or stop by and say hello.
1. All guests must be called into the gate by the Homeowner. If your guest is not called into the gate, they will not gain access into the Community. They will be asked to pull aside and contact you to call the gate. We will be asking all guests their name and the address they are going to, please make sure your guest or delivery person has this information. It is the homeowner’s responsibility to call all your guests, deliveries, and rideshares into the gate. Please keep the gate number handy so you have it for easy access. FRONT GATE PHONE # (239)731-2523. Homeowners:
2. When you have scheduled deliveries of any kind, Pizza, Furniture, Medical Supplies, Door dash, Grubhub, or any Guest/Family. Please call the gate ahead of time. The gate personnel are extremely busy, when your guest or delivery is not called in it creates unnecessary hold ups at the gate. We can streamline these interactions when we all do our part.
3. Please make sure you tell the front gate the name of your guest, approx. time of arrival, and your address. (UPS, FedEx, these deliveries are normally done for more than one address- If you have an Amazon delivery call it in, they let you know when they are coming.)
4. Please be courteous to the gate attendants. It is their job to get the information necessary to allow guests in properly. The gate can be hectic at times, please be patient.
Resident Drivers:
5. Please drive carefully throughout the Community, the speed limit is 16 MPH. All drivers should be cautious when driving in the Community, we ask that you abide by the posted speed limit. We ask that you STOP at the stop signs, this is the law. The stop signs and speed limits are put into place for all resident’s safety. If we all work together it will; make our community a safer place to drive.
Golf Carts:
6. No underage drivers on golf carts in the community, this is for all resident’s safety. Golf carts can cause harm if not used properly. There are new laws pertaining to the use of golf carts by minors. Please educate yourself on Florida Laws for golf cart use, before allowing minors to use your golf cart.
7. Please refrain from parking on the grass at all in front or around your home. No outside advertisement on your vehicle in the driveway or on the streets. No for sale signs on golf cart or vehicles, please use alternate resources to advertise your items. NO YARD/GARAGE SALES ALLOWED AT YOUR RESIDENCE. (Utilize the annual yard sale that Del Tura Community Has.)
In Memory of
• SHARON MURDOCK
If you are aware of the passing of any of our residents, past or present, please email the information to us at dttoweredit@gmail.com or drop off at the HOA office so that we can post here as a memorial.
Work Orders:
All irrigation work orders must be in writing. There are work order forms located in the administration office or you could email any of the office staff. Please be as specific as possible when sending a work order request. This has been a real benefit for creating work orders and keeping tabs on our system. You can email the staff for any other work order request, you can also stop in the office if you like, a phone call will do as well, (IE: Mailbox, community concerns, Bollard lights, etc.) If at any time you need an answer for a concern you have about the Community, we encourage you to reach out to the Administration office. We will have the facts for you.

Happy October Everyone! I am so glad to be back in Del Tura with family and friends. For those of you who were away over the summer, like I was, welcome back! For all of our permanent residents, I hope you enjoyed your summer and everything that Del Tura has to offer. I am looking forward to the upcoming season. The entertainment committee has some wonderful programs coming up and Movember and the Craft Fair are right around the corner. Your HOA board has worked hard over the summer to plan upcoming Town Halls and also some classes offered by the Lee County sheriff’s department. Look for a schedule of those coming soon.
A big thank you to all of the hardworking staff from Hometown America and the golf course who worked all summer to keep things in Del Tura looking fresh and clean. Also a big thank you to Nick and the pub employees for the July and September BBQ’s and for everything they do every day to keep the Pub up and running. I feel very lucky to live in Del Tura and enjoy the lifestyle that it offers. I look forward to seeing you around the community. Please do your part in keeping our community such a wonderful place.

Wesley was born May 31, 2023. After the passing of Otto, who was Emerson’s brother of 12 years, Wesley came to live with Bob, Jane, and Emerson. Wesley had been a joy for Emerson for the past year. Wesley enjoyed going to the dog park with Emerson, running and playing with his friends: Gordon, Carl and Blaize among other dogs in the park. Emerson passed away a few months ago at 13 years old. Wesley hasn’t been the same since Emerson passed and misses his big brother. He has been lonely, so we decided to get him a new brother. He arrived at our home Monday, September 9th. 2024. We are hoping his new brother can fill the void left by Emerson, and his new brother will enjoy Wesley’s friends at the dog park and rides with his dad on the golf cart. Wesley is looking forward to introducing his new brother to his girlfriend Miss Keeva, the in-laws, grandchildren, Uncle Mark, and all his friends who come to visit.
We are truly grateful to those residents of Del Tura who stop by to pet our Basset Hounds and sometimes give them treats.

Your Del Tura Cert team is growing in size. We have 5 residents who have completed their pre-training requirements and will be taking the CERT basic classes in November. If you are interested in joining the community CERT Team, contact Bertie Dugo at 617-974-8502.

Are your heirs ready to receive an inheritance?
In the popular imagination, receiving an inheritance always sounds like a good thing — after all, who doesn’t want a financial windfall? And inheritances can certainly be life-altering events. But they can cause challenges, so you’ll want to help your heirs be prepared.
To assist in this preparation, try to address some key questions affecting your heirs:
• Do they know what’s in your estate plans? Your family and other heirs will be much better prepared to deal with an inheritance if they know what to expect. That’s why it’s so important that you share your estate plans with everyone involved. You need to let them know the wishes and decisions you’ve expressed in your will and other legal arrangements, such as a living trust. Of course, sharing this information doesn’t necessarily mean that all your heirs will be completely satisfied with your choices — but at least they won’t be surprised, and perhaps will be less likely to cause disputes when the time comes to settle your estate.
• Will they know what to do with the money or other assets? You may be planning to leave your grown children a sizable amount of assets, possibly including cash, stocks, real estate, IRAs, 401Ks or other types of valuable personal property. But this inheritance brings with it several possible questions: Do your heirs already have an investment platform ready to accept inherited stocks? If you do leave behind rental property or a vacation home, can it be easily sold? These types of issues are generally not hard to resolve, but the more prepared your heirs are for their inheritance, the quicker they can take whatever actions are needed.
• Are they prepared to handle any taxes that may result from the inheritance? Unless you have a very large estate, your heirs likely won’t face federal estate taxes. (In 2024, the first $13.61 million of an estate is exempt from federal estate taxes.) However, other types of taxes may apply. A few states assess state inheritance taxes, and your heirs could incur federal and/or state income taxes when they withdraw money from inherited assets funded with pre-tax dollars, such as some retirement accounts. They could also face capital gains taxes when they sell inherited assets, such as stocks, for more than they were worth at the time of the inheritance. In any case, inheritance-related taxes can be complex, so you and your family and other heirs should discuss these issues with your tax advisor.
• Will they be liable for any outstanding expenses? If you have developed a comprehensive estate plan, it’s unlikely your heirs will be on the hook for any outstanding expenses, such as credit card balances or funeral costs. If you do still carry a mortgage, though, and you are planning on leaving your house to your heirs, they may want to be prepared to act quickly to sell it.
When leaving an inheritance, there’s a lot involved — emotionally, financially and legally. So, do whatever you can to make the entire process as easy as possible for your loved ones. By communicating your wishes regarding the inheritance, and by considering all the issues that may arise, you can go a long way toward achieving the outcomes you desire.

MOVEMBER BRINGS THE 2501 CLUB TO DEL TURA
By Barton DeGraaf
In just a few weeks we will celebrate our annual MOVEMBER events. September is prostate cancer awareness month, but November is MOVEMBER – when we raise monies for all men’s cancers, including prostrate and testicular, and men’s mental health. Our Del Tura community has raised more than $50,000 over the past 13 years. The funds were used to support research for prevention of and cures for men’s cancers, and mental health, including suicide prevention.
This year watch for your invitation to the “2501 Club”, Del Tura’s first ever “Speakeasy” and you will need the “password”. On Saturday evening November 23 you will be able to enjoy Swing Street’s big band, including horns, playing the sounds of prohibition jazz to our contemporary tunes. Make it a real dance party by dressing like you are actually there in time. Women of the ‘20’s wore “flapper” dresses, gloves and side hats. Men wore vests, stylish hats, various ties and fancy shirts. While costumes will be fun, they are, of course, not required.
Other Movember events will be our traditional “Junk in the Trunk” sale in the parking lot on the
morning of November 16 th . The evening of the 16 th we will again sail floating candles on the main lake as memorials to dear ones who have passed from or are survivors of cancer. And to memorialize any loved ones. Watch for more details of how to support and be a part of MOVEMBER.
HOLIDAY CRAFT FAIR
The North Wind doth blow and we shall have snow...” Well maybe not snow here in Florida, but we shall have an HOA-sponsored HOLIDAY CRAFT FAIR here in Del Tura. This will take place in Del Tura’s Clubhouse on Friday evening November 8th from 5 PM to 7 PM for Del Tura’s residents and Saturday November 9th from 9 AM to 2 PM for the residents and the N. Ft. Myers public.
We have over 50 vendors of handmade craft items for your shopping pleasure. Parking shuttle, Raffle Tables, Bake Sale items and luscious food will be available. Our proceeds will be donated to Del Tura CERT needs. Registration for vendors, both resident and public, has been open since May 1st and we are happy to be able to provide our shoppers with many gift choices again this year. This is also a great opportunity to get to visit with our returning “Snowbird” friends.
We would still appreciate volunteers from our Del Tura community in the process of unloading, parking and loading our guest vendors, greeting our guest shoppers, etc. If you are available or have questions concerning the Fair, please contact one of the 3 committee members, Jane Sheaffer, Joyce Frase or Dawn Weimer.
SEE YOU AT THE FAIR and HAVE FUN!

IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN!
By Ruth Ann Blevins and Cindy Brinton, Membership Co-Chairs
It’s that time of the year, to either renew your HOA Membership or join for the year 2025. The cost is currently a mere $12.00 per household per year. With your membership, you will receive 10 issues of the Tower (Community Newspaper); have access to the members only sections of the Del Tura Website; right to vote (one per household) in HOA elections; first day of ticket sales for professional shows and dances (usually at a $2 discount for HOA members); and, if you signed the email permission section on the member application, you will be able to receive all HOA official emails. If you will be signing up for membership and weren’t a member this year you will become a member for the remainder of this year and all of 2025.
Starting October 1st, there will be a membership table set-up at Tuesday Coffee to assist you with renewing your membership or joining the HOA. There will also be a table at each Tuesday Coffee until January 7, 2025. Please note, in order to have the right to vote in the 2025 HOA Board of Director elections you must pay your dues by January 10, 2025. You may also sign-up at the HOA Office, 609 Sierra Madre (across from the pool).
Checks should be made payable to HOA in the amount of $12.00. If paying in cash, you must bring the exact amount. Forms, along with your check can be dropped in the mail slot at the HOA Office or mailed. We ask that you try to sign up before the end of this year. If you do not, you will be removed from the HOA membership and will not receive any of the HOA perks listed above until you sign up or renew. We are working hard to bring accurate and up to date information to everyone in a timely fashion. To that end we developed a form with all of your information in our database if you were an HOA member. You will be directed to check all of the information and make any changes necessary. Please be sure to update the dates you plan to be away (snowbirds) and do not want the Tower left on your doorstep/driveway. If you weren’t an HOA member in 2024 you will have to complete a new application.

SHUFFLEBOARD LEAGUE
Hello shuffleboarders and shuffleboard wannabees!
I hope everyone did their exercises I recommended to get ready. You know: use your dominant hand to drink your coffee or beer to strengthen your arm for better accuracy, improve your cardio by brisk movement, what I call “walking without wheels!”
This year our Friday league is moving to Tuesday at 10:15am. We may have a few openings if anyone is interested in joining us. If interested, please contact me ASAP as it’s first come first served. This move makes it possible for players interested in playing Thursday/Friday tournaments at the county courts to do so. We also need several subs so please let me know if that interests you. This also opens up Friday for free play or a beginners league. Last year there

were weeks where over one hundred players used our courts! Unfortunately, after the 2022 hurricane damaged the surfaces of several courts making them slower (built in beading was worn down by the heavy rains) and many have been gouged creating a few other problems. Because of this, we will be beading the courts for league use until money is available to repair the courts. We still will have open play on Monday evenings at7:00pm. Playing under the lights is really fun so come enjoy a great evening. Friday’s court use (beginners league or free play or both) will be decided in October. All of this will start around the last week of October. Until then, summer free play still meets Tuesday and Friday at 10:00 until October.
GARDEN CLUB
Firebush, known scientifically as Hamelia patens, is a fantastic native shrub to grow in Southwest Florida. This plant thrives in the warm climate and is a favorite among gardeners for its beauty and ability to attract wildlife. Here’s a closer look at this vibrant shrub, including how to grow it, its ideal location, and the pollinators it attracts.
Best Properties and Uses of Firebush
• Attractive Blooms: Firebush produces bright red and orange tubular flowers that bloom and provide color and interest in the garden year-round.
• Pollinator Magnet: The flowers are a favorite for hummingbirds, butterflies (like the zebra longwing and gulf fritillary), bees and dragonflies, making it a great choice for attracting wildlife to your garden.
• Drought Tolerant: Once established, Firebush is very resilient and can tolerate dry conditions, which is perfect for the hot Florida climate.
• Versatile Size: Firebush can grow up to 15 feet tall but can be pruned to maintain a smaller size of about 5 to 8 feet, making it suitable for hedges or as a standalone shrub.
• Berries for Birds: In the fall, Firebush produces berries that are enjoyed by songbirds, adding another layer of wildlife attraction to your garden.
How to Grow Firebush
1. Location: Choose a spot that gets full sun to partial shade. Firebush thrives in well-drained soil and can adapt to various soil types.
By Sandy Gove, Submitted by Paula Major
2. Planting:
• Dig a hole that is twice as wide as the root ball and just deep enough for it to sit at soil level.
• Remove the plant from its container and loosen any tangled roots.
• Place the Firebush in the hole, ensuring the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil.
• Fill the hole with soil and water thoroughly to help settle it.
3. Care: Water regularly until the plant is established. After that, Firebush can tolerate periods of drought.
4. Propagation: You can propagate Firebush from cuttings taken from healthy plants. Cut 4-6 inch sections from the tips, dip them in rooting hormone, and plant them in a well-draining potting mix until roots develop.
Pollinators Attracted
Firebush is a true haven for pollinators. It attracts:
• Hummingbirds: They love the tubular shape of the flowers, which are perfect for their feeding habits.
• Butterflies: Various species, including monarchs and fritillaries, are drawn to the nectar-rich blooms.
• Bees: Firebush is also a great source of nectar for many bee species, helping to support local ecosystems.
In summary, Firebush is not only easy to grow but also enhances your garden’s beauty while supporting local wildlife. Whether you want to create a vibrant hedge or a butterfly garden, Firebush is an excellent choice for any Del Tura gardener. Plant one today and enjoy the colorful blooms and the buzzing activity of pollinators!
If you would like to learn more about this beautiful shrub, and others like it, that can be grown successfully here in Del Tura, you’re invited to the next meeting of the Garden Club on October 4th at 10am in the Jacaranda Room.

“OUR LIVES TODAY AS OF SEPT. 1, 2024”
I woke up and as I had my morning coffee, I realized that everything is about to change. No Matter how I vote, no matter what I say, something evil has invaded our nation, and our lives are never going to be the same.
I have been confused by the hostility of family and friends. I look at people I have known all my life--so hate-filled that they agree with opinions they would never express as their own. I think that I may well have entered the Twilight Zone.
You can’t justify this insanity. We have become a nation that has lost its collective mind!
• If a man pretends to be a woman, you are required to pretend with him.
• Somehow it’s un-American for the census to count how many Americans are in America.
• Russians influencing our elections are bad, but illegals voting in our elections are good.
• It was cool for Joe Biden to “blackmail” the President of Ukraine, but it’s an impeachable offense if Donald Trump inquires about it.
• Twenty is too young to drink a beer, but eighteen is old enough to vote.
• People who have never owned slaves should pay slavery reparations to people who have never been slaves.
• People who have never been to college should pay the debts of college students who took out huge loans for their degrees.
• Immigrants with tuberculosis and polio are welcome, but you’d better be able to prove your dog is vaccinated.
By Unknown Author
• Irish doctors and German engineers who want to immigrate to the US must go through a rigorous vetting process, but any illiterate gang-bangers who jump the southern fence are welcome.
• $5 billion for border security is too expensive, but $1.5 trillion for “free” health care is not.
• If you cheat to get into college you go to prison, but if you cheat to get into the country you go to college for free.
• People who say there is no such thing as gender are demanding a female President.
• We see other countries going Socialist and collapsing, but it seems like a great plan to us.
• Some people are held responsible for things that happened before they were born, and other people are not held responsible for what they are doing right now.
• Criminals are caught-and-released to hurt more people, but stopping them is bad because it’s a violation of THEIR rights.
• And pointing out all this hypocrisy somehow makes us “racists”?!
Nothing makes sense anymore, no values, no morals, no civility and people are dying of a Chinese virus, but it’s racist to refer to it as Chinese even though it began in China. We are clearly living in an upside down world where right is wrong and wrong is right, where moral is immoral and immoral is moral, where good is evil and evil is good, where killing murderers is wrong, but killing innocent babies is right. Wake up America, the great unsinkable ship Titanic America has hit an iceberg, is taking on water, and is sinking fast. The choice is yours to make. What will it be? Time is short, make your choice wisely!
CHORALAIRES
By Gary Lunders
The Choralaires started rehearsals September 3rd at 6:30 p.m. in the Starlight Ballroom. We will be rehearsing our Christmas concert which will be on December 1st. We will have two concerts: one in the afternoon, and one in the evening.
All interested past, present and future are invited to join us. There are no auditions and you don’t need to read music to be part of this fun group. We don’t have costumes so you don’t have to buy new clothes, unless you want to. If you are a former member and want to come back to us, just show up! If you are a new resident and want to give us a try, you too are most welcome! If you would like to help with ticket sales or ushering, just send us a text. Our goal is to make it fun for all!!
Season Six of our Creative Writers Workshop is almost here! I’d like to direct the attention of our current group, as well as any aspiring writers to our startup date of Monday, October 14th at 4 pm in the Royal Palm Room. Going forward, we’ll try to meet twice a month, and I will pass along the meet dates and times via text or email. If you like to write or have an interest in trying it, please contact me.
Those of us who love to write might do so because we have been inspired by other writers. We likely all have vivid recollections of a particular book, short story or poem that has stirred our emotions or touched us deeply. What we do NOT always know is that we all have the power to inspire others with our words. We can draw from our own experiences – the highs and lows of our life’s journey – and channel those observations and feelings onto paper. The purpose of this workshop is to help define what makes good writing, and to hone our communication skills by challenging ourselves with various exercises. But the object, above all else, is to have fun. Each writer’s response to the challenge handed out is read aloud and shared with the group at each meeting, an exercise that has proven to be very enjoyable.
We can all take away some positive things from this Creative Writer’s Workshop. We can meet new people who share our love of writing. We can share our thoughts and our work with others, and perhaps inspire others to try writing as well. Whether we touch on humor or express deeper feelings, I think you’ll agree that the very act of writing not only stimulates our minds but provides comfort to our souls.
I’m looking forward to seeing you as we kick off our next season. If you’d like to join us as a new member, please call my home number (239) 599-4631 and leave a voicemail, msg my cell (607-769-5766) OR email me to let me know you are interested. My email address is ndavy01@gmail.com. You’ll need to provide me with your name, your email address, and your cell phone number. And now, I’d like to entertain you with our newest member’s humorous study of the art of repetition:
There Was This Weed by Suzy Townsend
Daily walks with my dogs are delightful. They sniff and root around, while I look at all the lovely landscaping; plotting and stealing everyone’s ideas to pretend they were my own. We walk by many light posts at the end of driveways, often adorned with beautiful flowers; colorful, cascading, and buzzing with bee life! As a dedicated gardening guru and flower floozy, these feed my soul. They make me smile. They would normally fill my heart.
But, there was this weed. Beautifully blooming bunches of blossoms, with one giant weed poking out of the middle. We’d pass it on our way out, and again on our way back home. There it was; this weed. I’d forget all about it, until the next time when we’d start our walk, and then there was: this weed. Again. It began to be a daily focus of my OCD. I thought about pulling it out, but was afraid that perhaps the home owners had security cameras and were trying to see how large it would grow. Oh, and grow it did. This weed grew and grew. This weed became like a giant pimple on the nose of a person sitting beside you. You wanted to pop it, or at least mention it to them, but knew it was impossibly rude. How did they not know about this pimple…er…weed…uh… weedy pimple on the end of their driveway’s nose?!
Two walks a day with the dogs. Four daily passes by this weed. I tried changing our route, but the dingoes wanted to go where the dingoes wanted to go, and they wanted to go by this weed. Past this heinous weed; this large, constantly growing, disturbingly flourishing weed. My irritation with the neighbors I never met escalated. Did they not know how this weed marred the beauty of our little street? Why did they not pull it? What was wrong with these people? How did they not know about this weed?
Then came the glorious day that the weed was gone. Did they pull it? Did our new landscapers save my troubled brain and do the dirty deed for me? My relief was palpable. The dogs looked at me with puzzlement as I let out a happy squeal and did a little skip! It was gone, and the giant weed/pimple was finally popped.Stay dead, weed. Stay dead.

“A Sense of October”
Here we are at the beginning of October. The air should feel a bit cooler, the breeze a bit more forceful and refreshing especially after those hazy, hot and humid days of summer. I love Florida, but I yearn for the fall of New England. My most favorite season of the year, the season that reawakens all of my senses! Currier and Ives captured amazing scenes in their prints, but the true experience is when you are physically standing amidst the autumn beauty that seems to surround you.
By Dianne J. Roderick
I yearn for those New England early morning October walks. The beautiful maple trees wearing their new fall vivid coats of orange, red, and gold. Brisk breezes blowing off the ocean, releasing a spray of salty water that touches you ever so gently on your face. Suddenly your whole being is inhaling and tasting that magnificent salt air …it’s an explosion of senses one can only individually understand.
As the month progressed the temperatures would become a bit cooler. It wasn’t a “Jack Frost nips at your nose” kind of feeling but that subtle reminder to let you know that the cold weather was right around the corner, and that you’ll soon need a bit more than a light sweater. By the middle of the month “Jack” is back but this time the hint is not so subtle. Going for a walk? Time to pull out those heavier jackets, hats, scarves, and maybe some mittens, just in case!
Those breathtaking morning walks by the ocean would turn into country walks on the weekends. The sensory experience continued…When I think of October in the country I instantly see this one special road, a road that seemed to go on forever and housed at least four huge apple orchards. It wasn’t officially fall until you took a ride to the country and took a walk through those orchards, or attended the Apple Peach Festival each year. If you did nothing else but stepped out of your car and closed your eyes and inhaled, your senses would take you on a marvelous journey. I can’t even begin to describe the delicious smells of the freshly baked apple and peach pies!
Each orchard, although in many ways alike, had unique offerings. You really couldn’t leave without tasting, or buying something from each one. Four orchards, four pumpkin patches. Oh how we’d search each patch for the most perfect pumpkins! One had the best pies, another had the best jams, and still another had the best apple cider! Oh yes, I can’t forget about the one with the best crunchiest candied apples! So indescribably delicious!
As you can see I am so very thankful for the precious memories of my autumn in New England. I hope that each of you can reflect on a favorite season that takes you on a magnificent sensory experience as well. ~ Happy Fall Everyone!
F.I.S.H. NEWS
On Saturday, September 14th we held a luncheon for our residents over 90. It was a great success and a good time was had by all. I thank everyone who helped. Volunteers helped set up, prepare the food, serve, and clean up. The Brown
By Laura Dritt, President
Bag catered the meal and the food was delicious. Volunteers provided the desserts (Apple Cake, Lemon Squares, and Tiramisu). The Garden Club provided decorations. Music was provided by the trio of Dave Adams, Jim Hooper, and Jim Stenzel.
Now I’m going to change the subject. We need volunteers!
Drivers: Drive people to appointments, the grocery store, and other places. While waiting for the appointment to be over I’ve found it a great time to catch up on my reading. You usually only get called once or twice a month.
Medical Equipment: Deliver and pick up medical equipment to people who need it. You do need to be able to lift items. The heaviest item we provide is a wheelchair. The need is especially urgent in August and September. Many of our current year-round volunteers go out of town then.
Bookie: No, you aren’t taking bets! One person is assigned the “book” every week. This person is responsible for checking the F.I.S.H. answering service for requests. They then make the necessary arrangements for the request. Each person has the “book” 6 or 7 times per year.
Finally, I do have a request for those asking us for help. Please call the main F.I.S.H. number, 239997-3474. Calling a F.I.S.H. member or myself usually only slows down the process since it just adds another layer to the process.

NINE HOLE WOMEN’S GOLF
By Michelle Hamill
Swing, Sweat, Repeat
While many of our members headed North to cooler temperatures for the summer, several of us have been doing our best to stay cool and enjoy some golf here in the sunshine state. We celebrated Memorial Day with a patriotic themed scramble. Dressed in our red, white and blue each team had to utilize the men’s, ladies and senior tee boxes during our round. It made for a fun and challenging event!
In June, several of us went off campus to a KISS (Keep It Simple Summer) event sponsored by the Lee County Ladies 9-Hole Golf Association. We had a wonderful time playing with women from other golf courses and enjoyed a delicious lunch provided by Myerlee Country club. We did attempt to have a date with the 18-holers in June, but unfortunately that was rained out. In July, we hosted the 18-holers for a 9-hole scramble followed by lunch at Beef O’Brady’s. It was hot and humid, but those of us who attended had a great time playing, laughing and sweating together. Side-note, if you haven’t been to BOB’s in a while…go back, it has been
newly remodeled and the food and service were very good!
As we wait for our Northern friends to return, we will be busy playing new challenges each week, including, 3 clubs and a putter; Count your putts and will be having another date with the 18-holers in August. We look forward to seeing you all in the Fall!
Some dates to keep in mind:
● October 30-31
MEMBER/MEMBER TOURNAMENT
● December 10 COUPLES CHALLENGE
● January 29-30
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT
