OJAS is a Sanskrit word which may be best described as a potent embodiment of creative energy. Ojas Art has an innovative approach to Indian art and presents new ideas in the contemporary art space with a pronounced mission of presenting projects that are well researched and socially inclined.

Over the last decade, Ojas Art has been working in the Indian indigenous arts and aims to bridge the gap between the mainstream contemporary and indigenous arts. Ojas Art is headed by Anubhav Nath.

Kernels of Hope was the title of a section at Sarmaya Art Foundation’s exhibition, Echoes of the Land held jointly with Ojas Art in 2022.

I have been watching the work of the Vayeda Brothers with interest as they blur the boundaries between indigenous and contemporary art as they bring forth a new direction in tradition - based contemporary art in India. Rooted in tradition, they are able to inject their projects and practice with a dynamism that is exciting to witness. We were excited to acquire a recent work by Mayur and Tushar Vayeda for the Art Institute of Chicago’s permanent collection. I watch their emergence on the contemporary art scene of India with tremendous interest.

The Vayedas were a part of the St+Art India Foundation residency program. They worked on a visual language incorporating experimental and new mediums like stencils and blocks in their work. Interestingly, Warli like most Indian indigenous is essentially wall based.
