Our life is often determined by the journey we take. The choices we make. As individuals. Places we go, people we meet, pains we endure. Shape our lives.
And who moulds the young mind to make the choices that we make in life’s journey? Our parents. Essentially, our Mother. The first and the most influential teacher for us. Our Mother.
Who knows when this mother-child relationship begins? Perhaps in the womb. The mother-child relationship is the only relationship one can have before entering the world. The child feeds on what the Mother chooses to feed the child. The choice a Mother makes in protecting her child through breast feeding. Choosing to vaccinate. Providing adequate and appropriate nutrition. To counselling us as we grow. From childhood to puberty. To adulthood. Our Mothers are our best teachers, our best friends in this journey. Let 2020 be a pledge to Continuum of Care. For better Reproductive Health & choices. For better Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health. A strong mother. A strong child. A strong nation. A better world.
