Incentive Foundation was formed with a vision to empower change through education, while its underlying mission is to help build a more equitable society by empowering individuals in order to bridge the socioeconomic divide. Incentive Foundation aims to achieve this by aiding communities and providing support in the areas of education and healthcare, geared towards the vulnerable sections of our society who have little or no access to any assistance. The Bandhwari Government School: Incentive Foundation believes that education is the key to breaking the unyielding cycle of poverty. With a dedicated team and involvement in the school, there is good improvement in the teaching environment and general atmosphere.

A novel scheme that has found much support in Bandhwari village is the tuition classes Incentive Foundation conducts at the Centre, specifically for girls.

Social pressure and conservative traditions have prevented young girls from pursuing high school and college education outside the village. Our teachers conduct tuition classes for these girls and we register them with government open universities where they enroll to write exams and obtain degrees.

Incentive Foundation’s Women’s Empowerment Program helps disadvantaged women through self-help groups to earn money. Today, the Bandhwari Women’s Project is running more or less independently and many women have been able to break out of the traditional roles set for them and give wings to their dreams. We have set up a centre for women’s skilling, where we provide training in fabric-based products along with technical support in design, quality control and material sourcing.

We conduct several health camps on a regular basis, in association with established hospitals and also spread health awareness through house-to-house campaigning with the help of mobilizers employed from the village.

Educational and Cultural Immersion Programs

Most of the universities approach us with a tour plan in mind, with destinations identified based on unique learning needs of their group of students. We then work closely with the tour leaders in organizing a crisp tour plan in terms of local meetings, planning specific events, and working out all travel arrangements from the point of arrival in India till conclusion of the tour.

Our extensive experience in designing MBA and Executive MBA travel programs that include access to businesses, corporations and executive level meetings have been highly recommended. We also have in-depth experience

designing successful month-long Fulbright and fortnightlong CIBER Faculty Development Seminars.

Some of the prestigious universities we have worked with are the University of the Incarnate Word, Duke University, University of Missouri, Colorado State University, Emory University, Florida International University, Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem State University, and Semester At Sea (SAS).

We are one of the India in-country partners of SAS and as we understand their philosophy of ‘meaningful voyages’, we have been entrusted with some of their programs that give impact. SAS is a multi-country study abroad program open to all students emphasizing global comparative approach, using a ship as its traveling campus. May 20, 2016 I had the good fortune of meeting managing director Anup Nair on a Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) study trip to India several years ago. Anup guided our group, which consisted of university professors from across the USA, on a tour of Delhi, Agra, Bangalore, and Mumbai.

In addition to taking us to see Mughal palaces, Hindu temples, and Islamic mosques, Anup organized nearly a dozen company visits, and a walking tour of Dharavi, India’s slum, which boasts a surprising array of thriving micro-enterprises.
