Essential Guide for IELTS The International English Language Testing System, IELTS, is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who intend to work or study in a country where English is the primary language of communication.
IELTS is administered by the British Council, The University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL), and International Development Program (IDP). Structure of the Test The IELTS is structured to assess the students on four levels: Listening, Writing, Speaking and Reading English. The test is created to reflect the type of language spoken every day in any English-speaking country and also covers variations such as British, American and Australian English. The total time for the examination is of 2 hours and 45 minutes.
