This introduction to environmental health provides an overview of the methodologies and tools used to assess environmental exposure, epidemiology and health impact of air pollution, noise, water contamination, metals, pesticides, persistent and non-persistent chemicals, radiation and green space in low, medium and high income countries.

Global Environmental Health Programme* The programme of studies for this course includes: • Introduction to environment and health • Overview of epidemiological and health impacts methods used in environment and health • Environmental exposure assessment • Exposure measurement error • Air pollution and noise • Green space and UV-benefits and risks • Chemical water contamination • Biological water contamination • Chemicals and pesticides • Chemical incidents and natural disasters • Climate change * Subject to change

Practical details Location: Faculty of Medicine, University of Barcelona C/ Casanova, 143, Barcelona Dates: 7 - 15 May 2014 Classes take place Monday-Thursday from 9.00 to 13.30 h.

Language of instruction: English Deadline for application: 9 April 2014 Deadline for tuition payment: 23 April 2014 Tuition fees: 450€ Credits: 3 ECTS credits Students who successfully finish the course receive a certificate of completion.

Application

Candidates should have a demonstrated interest in global health and/or environmental health. Students should have an advanced level of English, which is the language of instruction for this course.
