Shakespearegivesusfamouslinesaboutlife beingliketheatre.Wefoundtheappealofa theatreintheround,acircus,aneasytransition tothisidea.Circusandtheopeningparadeisa pageantandsomeoftheactsofthecircus symbolisingkeyactionsin AMidsummerNight’s Dream (AMND)becameirresistible.

Theideathatlovemakesfools(jesters, comedians)outofuslendsitselfverywellto circusclownshenceourideasoftheloversas WhitefaceclownsandtheMechanicalsas CharacterclownsthatbecomeAugusteinthe playwithintheplay.

Havingasmallercastof14youngthespianswe wantedamoreintimatespaceforourAcademy Productionsowereturnedoncemoretothe invaluableH.J.ZhangBlackBoxTheatre,which allowsamoreversatilearrangementof audienceandactors.

Itisaprivilegetohaveworkedwiththecreative teamofKerenChaukria,SarahWun,our visionaryHeadofFaculty,AlexCampion,Felicity Donnoli,andourchiefconjuror,CarlMok.

WearealsogratefultoCraigFullertonandthe MusicDepartmentforhelpinguswiththe talentedmusicianswhoaccompanyour 'dreams'.

Shakespearegivesagiftofafamouscanonical characterstoallthecastandcreativesandinthe end,afterthisshowisgone,Ihopetheyenjoy conversations,andsharedmemorieswith peoplewhohaveplayedtheirparts-acrossthe world.

AMidsummerNight’sDream istheAcademy’s firstShakespeareanproduction.

ThewarriorheroesHippolytaandTheseusare abouttomarry.MeanwhileyounglordLysander wantstocourtHermiabutHermia’sfather, Egeus,disapprovesofthisrelationshipandtheir younglivesarethreatened.Hermiaand Lysanderplantheirescapeintotheforest. JoiningthemisunhappyHelenarejectedbyher exboyfriend,Demetrius.

AlsointheForestisabandofworkers(‘the mechanicals’)Theylovetheatreandare rehearsingaperformanceforTheseusand Hippolyta’sweddingday.Thenthefairiesstep in…Whowilllovewho?Willtheplaygoon?

Shakespearelooksfondlyatdifferenttypesof loveandhowlovemakesfoolsofusall.These youngactorsbringallthistolifeforyouaswe reinterprettheplaythroughtheworldofthe Circus.

Haydenhasbeenactingsincehewas3yearsold.Showshehasparticipatedin are DinosaursBeforeDark, TheLionKing,and PeterPan.Hisfavoriterolesofar wasplayingthecharacterofJackin DinosaursBeforeDark. ThisisnotHayden's firsttimewiththeAcademyProduction,ashehadpreviouslyparticipatedinthe unfortunatelycanceled BugsyMalone.ThisisHayden'sdebutperformancein theAcademyProduction.

HayleyisenjoyingherfirstISFAcademy'sproductionof AMidsummerNight's Dream. Hayleyisastudentingrade7andhasagreatpassionforactingand theatre.SheisfascinatedbythisgreatopportunitytoactasHermiainthe production.HayleycommencedherperformanceinKid'sGalleryattheageof 3.VariouspresentationsattendedbyHayleyinclude- TheWizardofOz, Matilda, TheLionKing,etc.ShealsoparticipatedintheHongKongChildren'sChoir fromtheageof4untilnow.Additionally,Shealsoengagedinafewmusical performancesinthepastthatwereheldby FaustInternational

Carrie-Annehasbeenactingsinceshewas7yearsold.Shehasappearedin PhantomTollbooth, JustSo, Matilda, Hamilton,and SchoolofRock.Herfavorite rolesofarwasplayingthecharacteroftheEldestMagicianin JustSo.CarrieAnnehasbeeninvolvedin FaceProductions, NationalPerformersAgency,and moreorganizationsbothinandoutofHongKong.Shesaysherfavoritepartof beinginAcademyProductionsistheconnectionsshebuildswithhercastmates,andteachers.Shealsoenjoyslearningmoreaboutperformingand expandingherhorizonregardingtheArts.

Aliviahaslittleactingexperienceandhastakenseveral FaustTheatre's workshopsasachild.Shehasnotbeenapartofanyproductionsinthepast,yet ispassionateabouttheartsandhopesthisyear'sAcademyProductioncan provideinsightinbothactingandaboutcomponentsofaproductionforher studiesandherfuturecareers.Aliviasaysherfavoritepartofbeinginthe AcademyProductionisbeingabletobeapartofateamworkingtowardthe samegoal;beingabletoworkoncharacterdevelopmentwithherlovely mentors;lastly,steppingoutofhercomfortzoneintermsofperformingand takingonunfamiliarroles.ThisisAlivia’sdebutperformanceforTheAcademy Productionandhopesyouenjoytheperformance!

Camelliahasbeenactingsinceshewas8yearsold.Shehasappearedinboth JustSo and Matilda.Herfavoriterolesofarwasplayingthecharacterof Elephantin JustSo.CamelliasaysherfavoritepartofbeingintheAcademy Productionsiscooperatingwiththecastandhavingthechancetomeet differentpeopleintheschool.

Maggiehasbeenactingsinceprimaryschool.Ashowshehasappearedinis TheAbandonedBook, whichwasfromtheISFPrimarySchoolDramaTeam.Her favouriterolesofarwasplayingthecharacterofSnowWhitein TheAbandoned Book.MaggiesaysherfavouritepartofbeingintheAcademyProductionis bondingwithotheractorsanddirectors,aswellasmakinghercharacterscome tolife.

Rosemaryhasbeenactingsincethirdgradeindramaclass.Shehasonly participatedintheshowsfromdramaclasses.AlthoughthisisRosemary'sfirst show,shehasalwaysbeeninterestedinacting. AMidsummerNight'sDream is Rosemary'sdebutperformanceforTheAcademyProduction.

Abbyhavebeenactingsince9yearsold.Showshehasappearedinare The LiontheWitchandtheWardrobe, BeautyandtheBeast and Cinderella.Her favoriterolesofarwasplayingthecharacterofClaudettein Beautyandthe Beast.Abbysaysherfavoritepartofbeinginacademyproductionsisthefun thatwehavewatchingothersact.
