ABDULLAH AL AMAN

Which teacher in uenced you the most and why ?

Mr. Chris McMahon is the teacher who has in uenced me the most. He has always been there for me whenever I needed him the most, he has always helped me. He is very successful teaching di cult topics. He taught Business and Economics very well, he always made classes fun and memorable, because of him business classes were the best and I always looked forward to attending business classes. Mr. Chris also has given all us a lot of motivation. I made a lot of memories with Mr. Chris, that we both will always remember.

Favourite place on campus and why?

My favourite place on campus is the big eld. Since childhood I have spent memorable time there. I have played a lot sports there, cricket, football etc. The eld is where we all have spent a lot of fun times.

What is your most memorable school moment?

I have too many great and memorable school moments, it is very di cult to choose one. But one memorable moment which always comes to my mind every now and then is when we used to have swimming races in the pool with all my friends in early years of primary. I remember me and my friends diving into the pool and splashing each other. Time spent in early years of primary in the swimming pool is something that will never be forgotten because there are too many memories to cherish from and we all had a lot of fun.

We wish you the best. May you have a successful and a very bright future ahead. We are extremely proud of you, you have come a long way and made us extremely proud. Congratulations!

AISHA ARINA JAHIN

What is your most memorable school moment?

Even in my short time at ISD, I've made some incredible connections here that I hope to hold on to. Having a rst day at a new school as a senior was intimidating to say the least but from the very rst second I got here I was welcomed by the girls who never fail to make me feel like I've been here all my life. Week without walls left the school to no one but the seniors which really let us just enjoy our time together and make memories I’ll carry with me out of ISD for years.

Parent / Guardian's message

The rst time we saw Arina after she was born, we felt like we were seeing my re ection. She is a great sister as she is a great daughter. She has a never-ending curiosity about numerous subjects and has great interest in cooking and spends her free time with her guitar! We are grateful to all the teachers and ISD for their support, care and empathy that they extended to Arina and helped her develop necessary skills such as leadership, determination, and diligence. We wish Arina every success!!

Which teacher

in uenced you the

most and why ?

I read this and my rst thought was Mr. Charles. Mr. Charles has guided not only me and my class but I'm sure every other student he's ever had. Going above and beyond his duties as a Physics teacher, he was a friend, a cheerleader, and well-wisher. You can trust him to help you get a 7 in IB Physics and also as your con dante when you need. Probably just like every other student in the Class of 2024, I’m going to miss Mr. Charles and his “hostile” emails.

Favourite place on campus and why?

The senior lounge without doubt was my favorite place. Whether it be crying and cramming for summatives or just sleeping on the couch. I think we had all been waiting for some kind of personalized space that was seniors-only and I loved hanging out in there with my friends.

ARPITA CHOPRA

What is your most memorable school moment?

I don't think I can choose so let's have a top 3:

1. Jumping in the swimming pool on a random school day with uniform on in grade 5

2. Getting held back by Ms. Spaeth because I could not stop yapping, and set a record of staying quiet for 2 minutes.

3. Napping in the front of the school with Marcelle and Jessica on the oor (it was good sleep)

Which teacher in uenced you the most and why ?

DP came and my father forced me to take Biology, and as someone who’s scared of blood and injections, it was not my thing. But classes with Ms. Saima had brought a sense of passion in me for Biology. She made learning about INTESTINES fun, and our classes never felt like school.

AYMAN WASI MEHEDI

What is your most memorable school moment?

My most vivid memories in school were perhaps in Kindergarten while I was in Mr. Ross and Ms. Julia's class. Although I was relatively young, I have great ashbacks of Mr. Ross bringing us shingara's every other day and letting us use his iPad to play games. We'd also have a morning routine to start the day with a just dance followed by story time where he would tell us stories about his wild adventures where he once even tasted a cobra and had bear meat! During the holidays he would bring a lot of science experiment kits from Canada for us to engage with. His dedication and interaction with us still makes me remember him although I left KG over 12 years ago.

Favourite place on campus and why?

I have three favourite places on campus. Firstly is the science laboratory where I would spend time during break or after school to talk to Mr. Ameen and discuss our passion towards Physics. Another place would be Mr. Chris's room where I would go in at di erent times of the day just to nd a safe, comfortable place to work. Finally, Mr. Charles's room has always been my favourite place because of the comfort I'd get in that room due to Mr. Charles's welcoming personality.

Parent / Guardian's message

Ayman, as you wait to start a new chapter in your life, we couldn't be prouder of the remarkable person you have become. Your journey through the IB at ISD has been a testament to your intellectual curiosity and dedication as an international minded student. You have accepted all challenges and have expanded your horizons to develop a deep love for learning. Your growth, both academically and personally, lls our heart with joy and admiration. As you step foot on this next adventure, remember that your potential has no bounds. Celebrate your achievements, and continue to shine bright. Congratulations! With all our love, Mamma and Baba.

Which teacher in uenced you the most and why ?

Throughout my academic journey of over a decade at ISD I've had the opportunity to get to know many teachers. There are some teachers who I've been able to build a personal connection with due to their exceptional dedication, passion, and profound impact on my academic and personal growth. Amongst them are Ms. Leena, Mr. Chris McMahon and Mr. Charles. Ms. Leena has always treated us like her own child and her passion for literature made me appreciate reading and helped me to develop as a critical thinker and a creative person. Mr.Chris's dedication to his students truly went beyond academics. His mentorship and long patience to our class distinguishes him as compassionate teacher. Mr. Charles's dynamic teaching style helped me in learning science in MYP and Physics in the DP engaging. His round the year enthusiasm sparked my curiosity and encouraged me to explore beyond the classroom. He always extends his hands to help his students and his contagious yet iconic laugh made his classroom feel like home. To this day, I still remember the hour long conversations I would have with Mr. Charles online during COVID or after school just about our personal lives that I would not be able to have without any other teacher.

IFRAD HOSSAIN MAHBOOB

Which teacher in uenced you the most and why ?

Mr. Jalaj in uenced me the most in my school life with his discipline and work style. Mr. Jalaj helped give me perspective on how to be a better student.

Favourite place on campus and why?

The Library. From grades 6-10 it was my go to lunch place. I remember chilling there with my friends during lunch and talking about life and our studies. I remember playing uno and computer games with my friends.

What is your most memorable school moment?

My rst day of school was one of the most memorable day for me as I remember making new friends and especially meeting a few classmates who are still with me at ISD today.

Parent / Guardian's message

Throughout the journey of my son at ISD he has interacted with many people and made new friends who are with him till date. I remember waking up every morning before him and preparing his breakfast for him. In his school life I could see myself in him like how he started learning multiplications and plus minus how I did in my childhood.

CLASS F 2024

JESSICA IQBAL

What is your most memorable school moment?

De nitely our Senior Retreat to Mati-Ta in Chittagong. It was my rst school trip since joining ISD and also my rst time away from home but that didn't bother me because those were the best four days I had in the entire school year. The memories and the laughs that my friends and I had are something I'm going to cherish for a long time. A special shoutout to Arpita for being the highlight of the trip ;)

Favourite place on campus and

why?

I would say the Ms Saima's room (Rm 012) just because we'd have fun lively discussions ranging across all sorts of topics and it's the only class where we get to play Kahoot (petition for more teachers to play Kahoot with their students please).

Which teacher in uenced you the most and why ?

Although she has left ISD, I would say Ms. Manisha who was my French teacher from Grade 10-11. She is one of the main reasons for helping me to develop my love for languages and inspiring me to explore and appreciate new cultures and I want to thank her for supporting me every step of the way. Merci beaucoup Mme Manisha !

Parent / Guardian's message

Jessica as you turn the page to a new chapter in your life, we hope you always remember the knowledge and values you learned at ISD. Always believe in yourself, don't give up and you will achieve great things in life. May the roads you travel always lead you to success and happiness. Your journey is just beginning.

KAZI ADRITA

Which teacher in uenced you the most and why ?

Ms. Saima in uenced me the most because she was the kindest and toughest teacher at the same time. She in uenced me to work harder and be more diligent.

Favourite place on campus and why?

The senior lounge as it is a nice place to be with your friends and study. The cafe as well because, I really like co ee. :)

What is your most memorable school moment?

Throughout my ISD journey one of the most memorable moments would be enjoying days of my senior year. Spending time with my friends in the senior lounge was something I had been looking forward to for a long time. Realizing that we've all grown up together and won't be seeing each other everyday really feels unusual. What surprises me is how fast senior year ew by leaving us with nothing but memories. One advice I would give to the following Seniors of ISD is that always cherish the time you will spend with everyone. You will never get these years back.

Favourite place on campus and why?

The Theater is one of my favorite spots on campus. It comes alive during drama class. The echoing stage where creativity and passion comes into play while exploring characters, emotions, and stories. I have learned a lot and also have gained a lot of con dence while working in this place.

Which teacher in uenced you the most and why ?

The teacher who in uenced me the most would be Mr. Santosh (Former Teacher). His way of teaching, mentoring and making me think was something I really appreciate about him. The debates and arguments we had were out of the world. Even though we had a lot of disagreements, I have to admit I have learned more about the outside world from him than anyone else. He has taught me to believe in myself and has guided me in the career path I desire.

Ms. Claudia, the absolute GOAT at everything she ever did with me and for the school, the epitome of e ciency, empathy, and what a teacher should be (love her so much); Ms. Ellen and Ms. Sekai, who were always there to support me and my safety. Ms. Presleigh, who made me realize I'm not insane in thinking we can help the world be better; Mr. Cacace, who instructed and guided me more than he was supposed to; Ms. Saima, I’ll never forget the owers; and anyone who wasn’t creepy or mean <3.

Favourite place on campus and why?

That table in the secondary well closest to the science classrooms. My friends and I sat there throughout Grade 11, sharing with students from all grades, waiting to nally be allowed into the senior lounge. We shared many mornings at that table, which I deeply cherish, more so when I see current Grade 11s doing the same, creating a small rite of passage that I hope continues.

What is your most memorable school moment?

Life is made by its small moments. The one time the Library Council stayed in school until after 5:00 pm to sort out Christmas decorations. When we played Monopoly during Economics class to try and understand the factors of production. I remember all the house event kahoots, everyone screaming whether they got the point or not. Jessica and Arpita getting dyed pink during that impromptu Holi event. Prom and Matita, learning new sides of the teachers that accompanied us and the deep conversations. The people of ISD are what I’ll remember most for the rest of my life.

Marcelle, your accomplishment is greater than you think. You changed country, continent, culture, language, methodology, and much more, and still, you succeeded. What is your most memorable school moment?

My most memorable moment in school would be the short little cricket matches we would play during snack and lunch break back when we were in primary. I remember when I rst joined this school, one of the rst memories I made with my friends in school. Those little moments made me bond with my classmates more as we all shared a common hobby which was playing cricket. Those cricket matches created some fun and memorable moments for me in this school.

Favourite place on campus and why?

My favorite place on campus would be the ISD Library as I would spend snack and lunch breaks during 6th grade in the library with some of my friends. We would all sit together and just bond over our mutual thoughts and work on assignments together sometimes.

Which teacher in uenced you the most and why ?

The teacher who in uenced me the most is Mr. Charles. During snack and lunch breaks, I would always drop by his classroom and he was very welcoming. We would have great conversations and whenever I would face any problems with balancing my academics he would always advise me and guide me on the right path. Among the teachers, he was like one of my best friends. He always gave me words of wisdom and emotional suport along with real life advises which I will always remember.

Parent / Guardian's message

Both my children have graduated from this great institution.

Which teacher in uenced you the most and why ?

I believe that Mr. Charles has in uenced me the most in my ISD journey as he has been my Physics teacher for 2 years and he was my extended essay supervisor. He has given me a tremendous amount of support for the last two years and he has played a huge role in me getting my diploma. He hasn't only been a teacher to me in the last couple of years but has also been somewhat of a role model for me.

Favourite place on campus and why?

I believe that my favourite place in ISD will be the cafe. The cafe would be my favourite place in the school because that is usually where my friends and I would hangout in snack time and lunch time as there aren't that many places to go during those two periods of the day.

What is your most memorable school moment?

I can’t really choose the most memorable moments of my ISD life as there were so many. Moments such as the last day of Grade 11 has always been one of my top moments in the school because that is the day that I realized that I am the senior of the school. As I have been in ISD for almost 8 years and I have always looked up to the seniors of the school and on the last day of grade 11 was the the day that I realized that we were the seniors of the school and I felt a form of accomplishment.

What is your most memorable school moment?

The trip to Mati-ta was a memorable experience that I will adore forever. Initially, I had low expectations for the trip, but it turned out to be an unforgettable moment. Although not everyone from our grade participated, the small group that went still had a lot of fun. Additionally, I got to know some of my classmates better, who I rarely talk to at school.

Favourite place on campus and why?

I enjoy being on campus, but the senior lounge is my go-to spot. It's restricted to seniors, so it's a great place to study, take a nap, and more.

Which teacher in uenced you the most and why ?

Every teacher has had a signi cant impact on me, but my top two favorites are Mlle Monique and Mlle Manisha. They are my go-to teachers, with whom I can be myself and discuss my personal life. Hi students! I've been teaching many of you since you started high school when we were online during Covid. Do you remember those days peering through a camera on your computer? Now you are more resilient than ever as you go o into the wild unknown and take up more challenges. Good luck as you feel the training wheels fall o !

Mr. Perry

Today is your day. You're o to Great Places! You're o and away! You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the [one] who'll decide where to go. You'll look up and down streets. Look 'em over with care.

About some you will say, "I don't choose to go there." With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet, you're too smart to go down any not-so-good street. And you may not nd any you'll want to go down. In that case, of course, you'll head straight out of town. It's opener there in the wide open air. Out there things can happen and frequently do to people as brainy and footsy as you.

Congratulations on nally escaping the craziness of assignment deadlines of High School, and welcome to even crazier life with more assignments of university courses. You have survived the chaos of coming to school late due to Dhaka tra c, cafeteria food and the drama of teenage life. Now it’s time to brace yourself for the next level – growing older! Remember, life is like a multiple-choice test. Sometimes the best answer isn’t the obvious one. So, go ahead, conquer the world, and don’t forget to use your expensive calculator for those tricky life equations. I have known you since grade 4 and I am con dent you will be successful in life. Wishing you the very best.

Congratulations to all the graduates!

Today we celebrate a signi cant milestone in your lives, an achievement that represents for most of you years of dedication, e ort, and perseverance.

As a Spanish and French teacher, I know each of you has worked hard to get to this point, and you are ready to face the challenges that lie ahead. Mastering a foreign language not only broadens your cultural horizons but also provides you with an invaluable advantage in an increasingly globalized world. I encourage you to continue nurturing your love for language learning, as it will open doors for you both personally and professionally.

Always remember the importance of understanding and respecting other cultures and people. The world needs individuals with open minds and intercultural skills now more than ever.

As you move forward on your paths, you will encounter challenges and obstacles, but trust in your abilities and everything you have learned thus far. Be brave in pursuing your dreams and never stop learning and growing.

Congratulations again on this great achievement! I am con dent that you have a bright future ahead of you. Best of luck in all your endeavors!

I have only known you for one year, but I certainly will not forget you. You will be successful so long as you use your own brain (rather than rely on ChatGPT's).

Best of luck at university!

Dear Graduates,

Congratulations on reaching this milestone! The journey, like so many others in life, has been lled with ups and downs – learning to read and write, going on a rst trip without your parents, a pandemic, return to campus, exhibitions, projects and so much more! And what I, and many others KNOW FOR SURE, is that YOU MADE IT! You showed up and you stayed…through the challenges and the easy times. You showed up and you stayed…through the happy times and the sad times. You showed up and you stayed…for the experience. And it is that tenacity which I encourage you to take with you as you venture out into the world, wherever your next chapter will take you. Allow yourself to have your own experience. Write your own story and whatever it looks like, OWN it! Be proud of it. Be proud of who you are. Keep showing up.

I wish you only the best in the future.

One of the most important things you need to remember in this stage of your life is to be kind, we are missing that in the world at the moment. Being Kind with animals, being kind with nature and being kind with each other. I am going to bring some quotes from Mr. J.B. Pritzker's speech to a group of university graduates: "How to spot an idiot." I'm here to tell you that when someone's path through this world is marked with acts of cruelty, they have failed the rst test of an advanced society. They never forced their animal brain to evolve past its rst instinct. They never forged new mental pathways to overcome their own instinctual fears. And so, their thinking and problem-solving will lack the imagination and creativity that the kindest people have in spades. Over my many years in politics and business, I have found one thing to be universally true—the kindest person in the room is often the smartest."
