PROJECT GUIDANCE: SUSTAINABLE TRAVELINEUPROJECTS

Choose your dates and times of travels when it is feasible to travel by train and public transportations

Use the railway central as a meeting point when gathering the participants.

Plan to visit popular nature areas off-peak seasons. This reduces pressure on local ecosystems and helps avoid overcrowding.

Choose accommodations, lodging, hostels, organized campgrounds etc. that are certified for sustainability (e.g., Green Key, EU Ecolabel, Global sustainable Tourism Council). Support small, local businesses to boost the local economy.

Pack light, bring only what you need. Heavy baggage needs more energy to be transported than light.

Pack smart and reduce the need of single use water bottles, utensils etc. in other word bring your own water bottle and cutlery

Use active transportation, when possible, hike or bike to your destination. Explore trails and towns on foot or by bike to cut carbon and connect with nature. For longer distances, always use train as a first option and buses and public transportation as a second. If driving is necessary, opt for low-emission vehicles. Use electric cars. If you don’t own one rent or join a carpool. Travel together and try to limit the number of vehicles. This also helps to find parking. Stay on the ground, flying should always be the last resort.
