Your natural swim pond seasonal maintenance checklist
Every swim pond is different. Use this guide as a starting point and adapt the advice to your local climate and the exact needs of your pond. Regular temperature checks and water quality tests will help you get it right.
Spring • Add bacteria to the biological part of the filter system if the water temperature is above 50°F • Get your pond running again: restart pumps and filtration systems • Clean equipment and replace filter media and UV bulbs. • Switch on UV clarifier • Scoop out debris
• Use a pond vacuum to remove sludge • Thoroughly clean pond walls (approximately every 5 years) • Add new aquatic plants (if needed) • Weed, prune, and re-pot existing pond plants • Check water parameters
