INTRODUCTION

I strive for unique and creative solutions to design challenges, with the goal always being to exceed expectations. Concepts for branding and graphical communication are what I love doing most when working on a project. I have integrated experiential graphics with my interior design projects, taking the branding to the next level. User experience is a key consideration for my designs as well as effectiveness of messaging. In the near future I hope to be working in a graphical setting

Thad Altman

Dear Friend, want to express my gratitude for allowing me to serve our community in the Florida House of Representatives. It has been a great honor to represent the Space Coast over the years, and am excited to report to you on the progress we have made.

Every year, the Florida Legislature convenes for 60 days to consider policy and spending priorities for the upcoming year, and I am proud of the progress we have made for our community and state.

In the 2021-2022 legislative sessions, we tackled certain child welfare reforms, expanded educational opportunities for children of U.S. service members, regulated attorney compensation from legal proceedings related to estates & trusts, expanded aspects of acute hospital care at home, allowed counties & municipalities to regulate smoking on beaches and in public parks, and more!

Florida has met every challenge we have faced head on and will continue to do so as we work to keep our great state open and free.

I hope you will find this report encouraging, as it covers the exciting work being done to keep our community great place to live, work and raise a family. If you would like more information pertaining to these issues, please contact my office at 321-425-6179. You may also visit us at the District Office located at 1895 South Patrick Drive, Indian Harbour Beach, FL 32937.

Sincerely,

Thad Altman

B A C K C O V E R F R O N T C O V E R 2022 Report From Tallahassee Child Welfare
Supporting Our Service Members, Veterans, & Their Families Ensuring the welfare of children is one of the most important responsibilities that the state legislature is tasked with. As Chairman of the Children, Families, & Senior Committee, Representative Altman joined his colleagues to pass three meaningful pieces of legislation that will expand measures to prevent child abuse, allow for children to receive better care, and facilitate greater engagement between children and their fathers. SB 96: Child Welfare Enhances measures that are meant to prevent and address child abuse. These measures include improving the central abuse hotline, expanding the Department of Children & Families’ scope and responsibility, and requiring the Child Advocacy Center and local law enforcement agencies to take certain steps that are more direct and proactive when dealing with child abuse cases. HB 7065: Child Welfare Expands fatherhood engagement activities during pregnancy, allows for the development & implementation of the Responsible Fatherhood Initiative, provides grants to community-based not-for-profit organizations to offer certain mentorship programs, and designates June as “Responsible Fatherhood Month.” SB 7034: Child Welfare Allows for better compensation for caregivers under the Relative Caregiver Program and the Department of Children and Families. It also provides some waivers and tuition relief to children who are in the custody of the Department of Children and Families. Another priority for Representative Altman has been maintaining and expanding the world class education system that Florida has. Representative Altman is a big supporter of three education bills that will expand and improve education access for Florida students. HB 7011: Student Literacy Establishes a statewide VPK through 8th grade dyslexia screening and progress monitoring program for public school students. HB 7045: School Choice Expands school choice access to students in the state of Florida by expanding, repealing, revising, or funding the different scholarship funds and school choice programs that are provided by the state. HB 461: Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program Student Service Requirements Authorizes paid positions to fulfill the student service requirement for the Bright Futures Scholarship, and it removes the requirement of students having to develop a plan in which they outline specific interest for their service requirement. As a member of the Florida Defense Support Task Force (FDSTF), Representative Altman maintains his commitment to U.S. service members, veterans, and their families. He believes that it is the government’s duty to ensure that those who served their country in uniform are taken care of. The following are some of the bills that Representative Altman supported to ensure that Florida’s military families are supported. HJR 1: Additional Homestead Property Tax Exemption for Specified Critical Public Service Workforce Grants additional homestead property tax exemption on all levies other than school district levies, on $50,000 of assessed value of homestead property owned by classroom teachers, law enforcement officers, correctional officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, child welfare services professionals, active duty members of United States Armed Forces, & Florida National Guard members. HB 45: Educational Opportunities for Disabled Veterans Makes disabled veterans receiving federal education assistance benefits eligible to receive tuition and fee waivers in Florida. HB 429: Purple Star Campuses Requires the DOE to establish the Purple Star Campus Program. Requires a staff member to be designated a military liaison. It also requires schools and school districts to have more of a military outreach, which would entail more programs and benefits for students in military families. Another piece of legislation that Representative Altman was proud to be the prime co-sponsor for was HB 105, which will help protect our children, beaches, and parks. This bill will allow counties and municipalities to keep our beaches clean and protect children from the harmful effects of second-hand smoke by giving them the authority to regulate smoking on beaches and in public parks. While our beaches and public parks are undoubtedly some of the best and most beautiful in the country, exposure to second-hand smoke can be harmful to our children and unpleasant for someone who wants to experience Florida’s natural environment. In order to improve the experiences of Floridians and tourists alike, Representative Altman took a stand with his colleagues in the state legislature to allow municipalities and counties to regulate how they protect our children, beaches, and parks. HB 153: Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children Allows for more representation on the State Council on Interstate Educational Opportunity for Military Children, with one representative being appointed by the Speaker of the House and the other by the Senate President. It also extends the interstate compact which ensures that the children of U.S. service members can obtain a quality education. Education Protecting Our

PROJECT INFO:

COMPLETED FALL OF 2022 | CANCER CARE FACILITY IN TENNESSEE

This was a group project completed by myself and 5 other individuals. Our concept and overall vision was a collaborative effort, however, the branding elements seen here were designed and created solely by myself. I chose to stylistically render the floor plans to match the overall brand we were trying to sell and those have also been included to demonstrate a different kind of graphic design. Our concept for this care facility was to blend hospitality and healthcare, creating a luxury environment in which patients could feel like they were receiving the best treatment possible. We chose to name our facility “The Refined Care Clinic” or “RCC” for short.

PROJECTS RANGE FROM FALL 2021 - SPRING 2022 | UF COURSEWORK

As an interior design major, the main focus on my coursework has been on designing interior spaces. Whilst completing these projects, I became aware of the concept of branding and learned how to apply it to interior design. In several instances, I took it upon myself to create and design different graphics that communicated the branding of the project.

For some projects, I had complete control of the brand and could develop it from scratch. Other projects involved an existing brand, and I had to do my research to develop a project which fit with that brand. All of these projects were completed individually.
