On the Shelf
Fossicking license clarification Recently the Library has had a lot of enquiries around purchasing fossicking licenses.
Find My Past (Australia) contains 50 million online records of births, marriages and deaths, for Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific Islands and Papua New Guinea.
We would like to let the community know that the Clermont Library does not sell fossicking licences. In Clermont, fossicking licenses can only be purchased online through the Queensland Government website at www.qld.gov.au/recreation/activities/fossicking/licencespermits/purchases/
To access these free e-resources and more, follow the links via the Council’s website: www.isaac.qld.gov.au/e-resources
People can purchase internet time on the library’s public computers to buy a fossicking license online. To purchase a fossicking licence online, you must have your own email address and either a Visa or Mastercard credit/debit card. The fossicking license is emailed to your email address. Library staff are happy to guide people through the process of purchasing fossicking licences online. Make a Vesak lantern – school holidays Making a Vesak lantern will be one of the craft activities Clermont Library will hold during the June/July school holidays. A Vesak lantern is traditionally made out of bamboo and paper during the Vesakha Festival. The Vesakha Festival, also known as ‘Buddha’s Birthday’, is celebrated by Buddhists in many Asian countries on different days. The library’s holiday craft sessions will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 11am to 12 noon, during the school holidays. Keep an eye on Council’s website for more details go to www.isaac.qld.gov.au/library-programs Bookings are essential.
