Anime-nia hits Isaac this Youth Week It’s all about animation and technology in Isaac this National Youth Week with youth encouraged to ‘Be the Future’. Kicking off Friday, April 8, local youth will dive into the unique world of anime, with a drawing competition and free movie nights held in Dysart, Middlemount, Moranbah, Clermont and Glenden. Isaac Regional Council CEO Rod Ferguson said the week’s activities aim to inspire young people to explore new technology and to think about their future. “We are excited to be screening two critically acclaimed anime films this year, Howl’s Moving Castle and Princess Mononoke,” he said.
“I know we have some very talented young artists in our region and I’m looking forward to seeing the entries in this quirky competition,” he said. In conjunction, Isaac Libraries will be launching ComicsPlus during youth week – a new service which gives young people (and the young at heart) access to global digital comic, manga and anime books. Rates arriving soon Rates notices will start to arrive in letterboxes for over 10,000 properties from Wednesday March 30 with the discount period open until Friday April 29. Chief Executive Officer Rod Ferguson said if rate payers have encountered delays with the postal service in their area they can register an email address with Council. “We understand that the postal service to some rural areas can leave residents with little time to pay their rates,” he said. “We encourage rate payers in those areas to register their email address with Council so an additional copy of their rates notice can be sent electronically.” “It is also important for rate payers to update their postal details with Council to ensure rates notices arrive on time.” “Ratepayers who make prompt payment on or before April 29 will receive a 10 per cent discount on general rates.” “Some financial institutions can take up to three working days to process an electronic payment, so please check with your bank or credit union to ensure your payment is received by Council in time to secure your discount.” Anyone wanting to prepay their rates notices is able to do so through the normal payment channels, and can contact Council’s Rates Officers on 1300 ISAACS (472 227) to receive advice on the estimated amount. General rates contribute to the cost of vital community services in the region, including public facilities, environmental health, local roads, footpaths, bikeways, and much more. Council rates and charges that remain unpaid after April 29 will incur 11 per cent interest per annum, compounded daily. Ratepayers who cannot make payment by the due date can apply to be considered for a payment arrangement. Application forms are available from Council offices or at www.isaac.qld.gov.au. Ratepayers who have written to Council for a remission/objection/change of category or any other issue, are still required to pay their rates by the due date and will be liable for any interest incurred on a late payment. If a ratepayer’s rates adjustment request is granted by Council any overpayment of rates paid will be refunded. The 10 per cent discount applies to general rates, and excludes all special rates and charges, provided outstanding amounts and overdue rates and interest are paid in full by the due date. Children’s Holidays activities Holiday activities for primary-school age children continue at the Clermont Library next week. Bring your imagination and creativity for a craft session being held on Tuesday April 5 and learn how to ‘paint’ with crepe and tissue papers. An Ozobot session will be held on Thursday April 7. Ozobots are small robots that can be programmed with special codes drawn with marker pens. Different coloured marker pens are used to draw the code and give directions to the Ozobot. Both activities will be held from 11am to 12pm. Bookings are essential for the Holiday Craft sessions and all children aged 12 years and under must be accompanied by a parent or a guardian. The ‘First Five Forever’ programs will continue to be held during the holidays at the normal times. Please call the Clermont Library on 4846 3746 for further information or to make a booking. Ozobots are back! Ozobots have returned to the Clermont Library for Term 2. These little robots proved to be very popular with children who attended Ozobot sessions at the Clermont Library during the Christmas/New Year break. Ozobot sessions for school-children aged eight years and up will be held at the Clermont Library on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3.30pm to 4pm during the Term 2 of the school calendar. It is a great opportunity for children interested in robotics and a maze challenge is planned. First Five Forever The First Five Forever program aims to give children from birth to five years old the best chance in life and improve literacy outcomes. The Clermont Library runs three children’s sessions a week and all programs are aimed at helping young children develop their literacy, numeracy and language skills from a young age, through singing nursery rhymes, performing action songs and reading books. Check out TumbleBooks TumbleBooks is a free library e-resource available through the Isaac Libraries link on the Isaac Regional Council’s website. TumbleBooks is an e-resource of e-books for children aged 4-12 years. Through TumbleBooks, children can read books and graphic novels online and play games and videos relating to the stories. Children love Baby Bounce, Storytime, Craft and Rhymetime Have you recently moved to Clermont with a young family and want to meet other young families. The Clermont Library runs several weekly children’s sessions and these are a good way to connect with other parents with young children. Rhymetime and Craft is held from 9.30am to 10am every Tuesday for children up to five years old, where they can sing and dance to nursery rhyme songs. Baby Bounce is held on Thursday from 9.30am to 10am and is aimed at children aged up to two years. Baby Bounce is a chance for parents to interact with their child through movement, music and song. Storytime and Craft time for the littlies is held at the Clermont Library every Friday from 9.30am to 10.30am and caters for children up to Prep age. CLASS DESCRIPTION Gut and Butt Blast is a target class that focuses on strengthening and toning the nine core divisions of the abdominal plane. While simultaneously blasting the three muscles of the buttocks, hamstrings and quadriceps. This will increase fat metabolism at rest and help slim and tone those problematic areas. Although not targeted, general whole body conditioning applies and while challenging, is more than suitable for any fitness level.
Aqua Fit An excellent fitness class in the water for all ages groups and fitness levels, the class is a combination of deep water and shallow water aquatic exercises designed to improve flexibility, aerobic capacity, muscular strength and endurance. Circuit training This is a form of body conditioning or resistance training using high-intensity/ low-intensity aerobic energy. It targets strength building and muscular endurance. XT - THUMP boxing it’s a nice way to start your day. This class incorporates 10mins of circuit cardio, 10mins strength training and 20mins thump boxing. A fully functional total body workout that burns, burns, burns. Metafit This is a 30 minute bodyweight training system that gets results! It is a functional and effective, metabolic workout that will change the way you train. Created by a former Royal Marine Commando, Metafit combines the latest HIIT techniques with traditional ‘old school’ bodyweight exercises to set the metabolism on fire! Lets lift circuit Resistance Circuit works on the principle of Circuit Training with stations broken down into a lower and upper body weights workout, using
the subscription of low weights high repetition to develop a challenging total body workout, ensuring lean muscle mass gains.
