Clermont Doctors Surgery news contributed by Maddie Scott As the festive season is fast approaching, we would like to remind everyone that appointments are required for ALL prescription renewal’s and with only one doctor over the holiday’s there will be high demands for appointments, so please ensure you book in advance.
Sarah has starting working with us on a part-time basis and will be working 3 days (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) every second week. Appointments for Sarah can be made by contacting the Surgery or online via Health Engine.
Dr Nadira Anis will be taking three months leave from the end of November so there will be relieving doctors until February.
Shingles Vaccination

Have your say on shaping Isaac communities
Isaac Regional Council is seeking your ideas to help prepare a new planning scheme from November 7 to December 9.
The new Isaac Regional Planning Scheme will be developed in four stages and is expected to be complete in 2018:
Mayor Anne Baker said the Isaac Region Planning Scheme will provide one local planning framework for the whole region.
1. Planning and preparation stage: The preparation of various studies, reports, explanatory statements and open community survey to inform the planning scheme as well as drafting the new planning scheme.
“Council needs your help to create resilient communities, facilitate diverse economic activity, make the most of rural areas and ensure the sustainable growth of our coastal communities.” “The new planning scheme will replace the three existing schemes; the Belyando Planning Scheme 2009, the Nebo Planning Scheme 2008 and the Broadsound Planning Scheme 2005. “We are looking for your feedback to draft a consistent planning framework to manage land use and development in the region for the next 10 years. “Planning schemes apply to land that you own or rent. It applies to the land around you, affects what you can do with your land and what your neighbour can do with theirs. “Isaac is a diverse region encompassing rural properties, urban townships, industrial precincts, coastal strips and offshore islands,” Mayor Baker said. “There are many different land use opportunities and challenges, the new plan will need to respond to the needs of our people and places.” “The Isaac Region Planning Scheme will shape the future of our region and we encourage you to share your ideas.”
2. State interest review stage: An assessment by the Queensland Government for impacts on State Interests such as compliance with the State Planning Policy and Queensland Planning Provisions. 3. Notification stage: The public notification of the new planning scheme, including engagement with the community and key stakeholders, as well as analysis of the submissions to inform the planning scheme. 4. Adoption stage: Assessment by the Queensland Government for impacts on State Interests and approval by the Council. Feedback forms will be available online and in hardcopy at Council libraries and offices from November 7 to December 9, 2016. Feedback can also be submitted in writing via post or email to records@isaac.qld.gov.au. Visit www.isaac.qld.gov.au/planningscheme for details and to provide feedback online from November 7. A further period of active consultation with community, businesses and industry will also be undertaken across the region during the notification state in the planning scheme development process.

Milestone for Nell and Roy contributed by Wendy Marteene Nell and Roy married on November 9, 1946 in Dubbo, New South Wales at the Holy Trinity Church. In 1958 the family travelled to the Central Queensland area and resettled in the Clermont district, farming. In 1970 they drew ‘Yarmina” in a brigalow ballot which they improved until selling in 1982. They purchased a house in town where Roy still lives and a smaller property, “The Glen” on the dam road. Full retirement saw the sale of the property and the couple travelled around Australia on various trips until Christmas Day 1999 when Nell suffered a stroke. Roy cared for her for several years until she moved into Monash Lodge where she resides today. Roy visits her regularly on his gopher. The couple have 4 children, 13 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren with another due in March. Nell 92 and Roy 95 (96 in December), are thankful and appreciative for the care they receive from the staff at Monash Lodge and all those from HACC and the Meals on Wheels volunteers. This care and help has enabled them to live out their lives with little disruption in Clermont.
Congratulations Nell and Roy Richardson on your 70th wedding anniversary on 9th November.

Gather friends and weave a star
First Five Forever
Get a group of friends together or come on your own to the Clermont Library and join in the ‘One Million Stars to End Violence’ star weaving project.
The First Five Forever program aims to give children from birth to five years old the best chance in life and improve literacy outcomes. Babies and children love sharing stories and it’s never too early to talk, read and tell stories with your child.
We have a star weaving station set up for people to drop in anytime during opening hours to weave a star from ribbon. Isaac’s goal is to weave 10,000 stars to contribute to the display at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.
The Clermont Library runs three children’s sessions a week and all programs are aimed at helping young children develop their literacy, numeracy and language skills from a young age, through singing nursery rhymes, performing action songs and reading books.

You can relive your childhood reading with ComicsPlus. ComicsPlus gives unlimited access to thousands of digital graphic novels and comics to library patrons on any web-connected device. You will need to create an account using your email address and a password to access ComicsPlus. History books for sale The Clermont Library has some history books relating to Isaac, for sale. If you have an interest in local history, these books would be great to add to your book collection or make a nice gift for someone who likes reading books on ‘Australiana’. The books for sale are: ‘Below These Mountains’ by Lyall Ford ($15), ‘Behold Nebo: A History of Nebo Shire’ by George A. Mayes ($20) and ‘A Photographic Record of Colonial Queensland’ by Lyall Ford ($20). Both books by Lyall Ford relate to his great grandfather pioneer photographer and miner, John Henry Mills, who lived in Mount Britton.

The Clermont Library runs several weekly children’s sessions. They are a good way to connect with other parents with young children. Rhymetime and Craft is held from 9.30am to 10am every Tuesday for children up to five years old, where they can sing and dance to nursery rhyme songs. Baby Bounce is held on Thursday from 9.30am to 10am and is aimed at children aged up to two years. Baby Bounce is a chance for parents to interact with their child through movement, music and song. Storytime and Craft time for the littlies is held at the Clermont Library every Friday from 9.30am to 10.30am and caters for children up to Prep age. CLASS DESCRIPTIONS TRX Suspension Training Every Suspension training exercise builds true functional strength and improves flexibility, balance and core stability all at once, as is required on the playing fields of sport and in life. Intermediate sessions are higher intensity workouts as basics should be well ingrained in participants. Monday, and Saturdays, Wednesday 30mins Flexibility focus Rip Group Rx A high intensity strength conditioning class using barbell and light weights. 45-1 hour in duration. Bring towel and water bottle! $16.50 casual/ free for members. Rip Express is a 45min major muscle group workout. THUMP boxing for fitness 1 hour free for members. Beginners L1 run Wednesday nights 6pm. A pair of inners to be worn under gloves can be purchased for $5.00 before class. L2 and L3 Bookings only! Boxing equipment provided for both classes. $16.50 per class, free for gym members. AXIS A half hour functional body weight resistance class for adults, improve core and whole body strength. Class is set to music. Indoor Volleyball Fixtures Season 2 runs Thursday nights throughout Term 3 and 4 start times 6.30pm and 7.30pm. Tuesday Ladies Volleyball Fixtures Season 2 runs July to December. New players welcome. Nominations now open, game start times 9.30am. Tight Arse Tuesday’s $7.00 gym passes. Don’t get offended get active! Yoga A class for everyone! For ages 5 and up to 90 or more. You will learn breathing exercises and positions that can help improve arthritic symptoms, insomnia, blood pressure, mood and aid with relaxation and flexibility.
There are many benefits of Yoga, this class is suitable for pregnant women, screening will be conducted prior to participation. BOOKINGS FOR YOGA ARE ESSENTIAL. $16.50 for casuals. $6.60 for children up to 14 years. Power Yoga is not suitable for children under 10 years of age. SPIN/Revolution Great music and a fantastic calorie burning hour of indoor cycling. You’ll learn correct technique for improved performance and have fun cycling. Bookings essential. Revolution Express is a half hour session being added to the program in November all indoor cycling classes are moderate to high intensity classes. Pilates Level 1 Mat and Ball 45mins learn the fundamentals of Pilates in a low impact class for good posture, strength for pelvic floor, core and general toning. Mats required. CLASS DESCRIPTION Gut and Butt Blast Is a target class that focuses on strengthening and toning the nine core divisions of the abdominal plane. While simultaneously blasting the three muscles of the buttocks, hamstrings and quadriceps.
80’s Night This will be a quick 30mins aerobic workout inspired by the ‘Greats’ of the 80’s. It will incorporate acerbic movement, 80’s Step Aerobics and some of the old time chain dances. It’s fitness and fun in one! Open gym This is your opportunity to use the Gym facilities, there will be a basic weights program and WOD on offer for your utilisation, or you could just be creative and do your own training. Metafit This is a 30mins bodyweight training system that gets results! It is a functional and effective, metabolic workout that will change the way you train. Created by a former Royal Marine Commando, Metafit combines the latest HIIT techniques with traditional ‘old school’ bodyweight exercises to set the metabolism on fire! Lets lift This program has been designed to target the eight large muscle groups in a 45mins whole body workout. This is achieved through the use of Barbell and Dumbbell weights. This class is suitable for all fitness levels.

It targets strength building and muscular endurance. An exercise ‘circuit’ is one completion of all prescribed exercises in the program. It is highly enjoyable and recommended to all levels of fitness.
