Mayor’s Award The Mayor’s Award is for our unsung heroes and quiet achievers who vastly contribute to our community but can sometimes go unnoticed. This was awarded to Rebecca Allen-Ankins. The Clermont Dolphins hosted a novelty children’s relay and the Clermont Kindy playdough station was a hit, along with jumping castles and pony rides to keep the children entertained. Isaac Regional Council would like to thank everyone who assisted with Clermont’s Australia Day celebrations. Have you heard about big upgrades happening at Clermont Kindy & Day Care Centre? We have painted the entire centre and fences, built new nature-inspired playgrounds in the Nursery, Kindergarten and Toddler areas, and new bathroom facilities in the Toddler room – just to name some of the upgrades to the not-for-profit centre.
In the grant application we need to request a specific amount based on the total dollar amount of pledges we have received before the cut-off date.” “We are approaching larger companies, as well as seeing if any of the businesses and general public of Clermont are interested in supporting the project, by pledging a dollar amount of their choosing.”
A number of our staff, parents and volunteer Management Committee have been working tirelessly to make this happen, through working bees, fundraisers and grant applications since 2015.
“You can fill out a form to pledge a donation to the project, and then only forward the money when, and if we are successful with the grant. Then every dollar will become $4”, she said.
We are currently in the final planning stages for Phase 4, 6 and 7 of the project. These phases will see a much-needed upgrade to the Pre-Kindy playground and undercover area, replace priority doors and upgrade to the front entrance.
Working with the deadline for the grant application, we would require any pledges or donations to be made by Friday February 10 to allow it to be included in the grant. Any contribution large or small would be greatly appreciated.
The expected cost of these phases is approximately $300,000. We are in a unique position currently as the government has recently announced the Building Better Regions Fund. This fund will support projects like ours. However, we will need to contribute $1 (donated or fundraised) for every $3 that we apply for.
We are delighted to announce the members of BA Bush Sports Association are kindly donating $5000 to the centre, and through this grant process we will hopefully turn that $5000 into $20,000!
We are currently requesting assistance to raise the $75,000 target we need, for us to apply for the full amount required to complete these phases. Management Committee President, Jenny Ellis said, “We are asking people to pledge their support before we submit the grant application, as a means of showing that we have community support for the project.
Being the only service of its nature in over a 100 kilometre radius and providing care for around 150 families, the Clermont Kindy & Day Care is vital to the social and economic sustainability of our community. During the closure museum staff will work to preserve Clermont’s historical items to ensure their longevity. Projects include: •
Restoration of the original Aveling Porter Steam Traction Engine that moved Clermont during the 1916 Flood.
The centre will reopen to visitors from Wednesday March 1, 2017. When the centre reopens the ‘Flood of Memories’ Exhibition will be on display until December 2017. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused by the closure and thanks the community in advance for their patience.
Skate park shade structure works, Clermont Isaac Regional Council advises Clermont residents and skate park users of construction to install a new shade structure. One Million Stars to End Violence Isaac Libraries will host star weaving work stations between August 2016 - July 2017. Everyone from individuals to community groups are invited to join the project and help weave stars. Help Isaac Libraries reach their goal of 10,000 stars
August 2016 - July 2017 One Million Stars to End Violence is a love and peace filled community project started by Brisbane artist Maryann Talia Pau and supported by Queensland State Government. The goal is to weave one million stars to display at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in 2018.

CLASS DESCRIPTION Gut and Butt Blast
It targets strength building and muscular endurance.
Is a target class that focuses on strengthening and toning the nine core divisions of the abdominal plane. While simultaneously blasting the three muscles of the buttocks, hamstrings and quadriceps.
An exercise ‘circuit’ is one completion of all prescribed exercises in the program. It is highly enjoyable and recommended to all levels of fitness.
This will increase fat metabolism at rest and help slim and tone those problematic areas. Although not targeted, general whole body conditioning applies and while challenging, is more than suitable for any fitness level.

Come along to Storytime on February 10 to welcome the Chinese New Year.
We have a weaving station set up for people to drop in anytime during opening hours to weave a star from ribbon.
If you were born on February 3, you have something in common with Elmo, the loveable little red monster who lives on Sesame Street. Elmo is also celebrating his birthday today.
This Storytime session will have a chicken theme as the Chinese Zodiac is celebrating the Year of the Rooster.

Children love Baby Bounce, Storytime, Craft and Rhymetime The Clermont Library runs several weekly children’s sessions. They are a good way to connect with other parents with young children. Rhymetime and Craft is held from 9.30am to 10am every Tuesday for children up to five years old, where they can sing and dance to nursery rhyme songs. Baby Bounce is held on Thursday from 9.30am to 10am and is aimed at children aged up to two years.
Baby Bounce is a chance for parents to interact with their child through movement, music and song. Storytime and Craft time for the littlies is held at the Clermont Library every Friday from 9.30am to 10.30am and caters for children up to Prep age.
