Cent-sational Seniors Week in Clermont It was on for young and old when 96 seniors from Clermont, Dysart and Moranbah came together to celebrate Seniors Week at the Clermont Civic Centre on August 20.

“Seniors play such an important part in our towns, contributing a lifetime of knowledge, experience and skills to both their families and the wider community,” she said.

The cent sale was once again the highlight of the day, with all participants in with a chance to win some goodies, kindly donated by local businesses.

Deputy Mayor Dale Appleton and Clermont Councillor Barbara Stranks also joined the celebrations, with Cr Stranks noting the efforts made to entertain guests.

Seniors were also treated to a Thai Chi demonstration and displays by small businesses, Scentsy and the Body Shop, with product samples and items for sale. Mayor Anne Baker attended the event and said it a pleasure to see so many local seniors both celebrating and being celebrated on the day.

“The crowd thoroughly enjoyed the performance by local music group Time Lapse, and was waited on beautifully by six students from Clermont State High School who assisted with table service as part of their Hospitality unit ‘Interact with Customers’,” she said. “Thank you to everyone who contributed towards making the day such a success,

especially to the businesses who kindly supported the event, without your generosity the day would not be possible.” Supporting businesses included: Lotta Lattes; Mitre 10 Clermont & Moranbah; JD’S Hair Affair; Leo Hotel; Commercial Hotel; Cornetts IGA; Beale’s IGA; ANZ; Ornabella’s Clothing; Clermont Pharmacy; Clermont Post Office and Upacutz Hair Salon. Thank you also to Monash Lodge who assisted 13 of their seniors in attending the event and to Clermont State High School students: Morgan Mills, Erin Slattery, Gabby Clements, Kate Turner, Emily Pearl and Daniel Smith for their hospitality services.
