CLERMONT RAG FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 7, 2018
AUSSIE MUSIC LEGENDS READY TO ROCK ISAAC Iconic Australian music artists Daryl Braithwaite and Ross Wilson along with dynamic three-piece group The Potbelleez will rock crowds at the 4U2 Family Concert in Moranbah on Saturday, September 8. The annual concert was first launched by the Hornery Group in 2013 as an opportunity to fundraise for two essential medical services through the creation of a community music event for all ages. In its sixth year, the fundraising concert also provides a platform for local artists to shine on stage alongside the headline acts. Thirteen year old Bella Mackenzie and local bands Bulletproof and Final Warning featuring Derran Hornery will entertain the audience in the afternoon leading up to the main acts in the evening. Mayor Anne Baker said the concert was a great opportunity to bring the Bowen Basin community together for an enjoyable and vibrant family experience with high-quality entertainment and family-friendly activities. “Each year, the community looks forward to the big announcement about who will be headlining at this fantastic concert,” said Mayor Baker. “We have enjoyed many quality Australian and local artists and bands over the past five years. “2018 is shaping up to once again offer an outstanding afternoon and evening of entertainment with some of Australia’s most iconic artists featuring on stage.”

Funds raised from the concert are donated to the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital (RWBH) Foundation and RACQ CQ Rescue Helicopter. “This event highlights the importance of these two vital medical services that assist residents in our region when needed most. “Coming along to the concert with family or friends is a great way for people to show their appreciation to these services while experiencing a first-class music concert right here in the Isaac region.” Gates open at 2pm at the Hornery Business Complex on Railway Station Road, Moranbah. Ticket booking details and additional information about the event can be found on the Hornery Group page on Facebook or via the website www. hornerygroup.com.au Isaac Regional Council is proud to support the Hornery Group to host the 4U2 Family Concert through the Community Grants program. A free bus to the Hornery Complex will leave Clermont at 1pm, returning at 11.45pm on Saturday night. Bookings are essential. See Bus Timetable on the next page.

PUBLIC NOTICES DOG RENEWAL NOTICES WITH 50 PER CENT DISCOUNT OUT NOW Renew your ruff friend’s rego and claim your 50 per cent discount before tomorrow (COB Friday) September 7, 2018. It’s not a far-fetched idea to register man’s best friend now and then you’ll be able to claim the discount next year. The great thing about registering is that if Council picks up your dog, rangers return them for free for the first time. If the dog is unregistered – owners will be up for an impoundment and registration fee before they’re released home.
To avoid this, harness pure puppy power and register, microchip and make sure your yard is secure and safe. When you’ve got your dog registered, anything is paw-sible as the fees will also help fund essential services in the region’s animal management. Please note: Council is experiencing some technical issues with dog renewal registrations via BPay. Please call 1300 ISAACS (1300 472 227) or visit your local Council office for assistance. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused.

IN STEP WITH COMMUNITY ON CAPELLA ST FOOTPATH Clermont business operators and local residents are being invited to have their say on proposed improvements to the footpath in Capella Street.
Mayor Baker said she encouraged the Clermont community to have a say on the project by providing feedback over the coming weeks.
“Capella St is the commercial centre of Clermont. Upgrading the condition of the footpath will enhance the amenity of this precinct and reduce the likelihood of slips, trips and falls,” she said.
People can provide feedback by completing an online survey about the project on Council’s website or by following the link: https://www. surveymonkey.com/r/RGT79V8
“We are also committed to minimising disruption and maintaining access to Capella St businesses while these planned improvements occur.”
Printed surveys are also available from Council’s Clermont Office and Library.

TAKE OFF ON AN OUT OF THIS WORLD OUTDOOR ADVENTURE IN CLERMONT A free under-the-stars production packed with space-aged belly laughs are set to charm audiences as it returns to Isaac with a sequel.
Mayor Anne Baker said Isaac Regional Council supports diverse arts and cultural events across the region.
The NQ Starshine and Full Throttle Theatre Company have teamed up to bring seven outdoor shows of Astronomical 2 to Isaac in September and October.
“Delivering belly laughs as it explores the universe, the audience participates by looking at the various astronomical wonders through large computer controlled telescopes,” Mayor Baker said.
The audience will be guided through the history of the universe as seen through the eyes of Nicholas Copernicus, Edwin Hubble and others.

“The magical cast will lead the audience through space with nuggets of science intermixed with the historical twists and turns from the characters’ perspectives. “The play is an outdoor production, where the sky is dark and the planets beckon.” Astronomical 2 will take off on its out-of-this-world outdoor adventures in Clermont at the Bottom Oval, Clermont Sportsgrounds on October 17, starting from 6.30pm. To give everyone a chance to experience looking through six large computer controlled telescopes, attendance is limited. Only 200 tickets are available for the Clermont show with a limit of five tickets per person.
Tickets will not be available at the venue. It is essential to pick up free tickets from the Clermont library. The audience must bring their own chairs or blankets to sit on. We’ve had the races, rodeo, the Gold and Coal Festival, and an author visit and children’s book week at the library, just to name a few. A lively seniors luncheon was also enjoyed by many ‘golden oldies’ and a few younger ones at the Grand Hotel on Thursday August 23 as we celebrated Seniors Week. Thanks to all the volunteers and hard-working community members who continue to demonstrate pure people power in bringing these wonderful community events to life in Clermont. Your efforts show your strong community spirit and are much appreciated.
