Clermont Swimming Centre reopened Isaac Regional Council is pleased to announce that the Clermont Swimming Centre has officially reopened. The reopening marks the completion of urgent maintenance works to install a new filtration system at the Swimming Centre. Major works as identified in an extensive specialist report will be undertaken in the Swimming Centre’s usual closure period during the off season. Council would like to thank the Clermont community for their patience during the closure period, and is pleased to reopen this valued community recreational space in time for the school holidays and Christmas period.
Last days to save on rates Isaac property owners have only days left to take advantage of Council’s prompt payment discount on rates. The 10 per cent discount for general rates will end on Wednesday December 9. Chief Executive Officer Rod Ferguson is encouraging ratepayers to take advantage of the discounts by making sure payment is received by Council on or prior to the discount date. “General rates contribute to the cost of vital community services in the region, including public facilities, environmental health, local roads, footpaths, bikeways, and much more.” Ratepayers are advised that Council rates and charges that remain unpaid after Wednesday December 9, 2015 will incur 11% interest per annum, compounded daily. Lost worlds to discover at Summer Reading Club Underwater and future worlds, alternate universes and epic adventures await discovery at this year’s Summer Reading Club starting on December 14 at Isaac libraries.

Themed ‘Lost Worlds’, children will experience hands-on programs including Ozobot robotics workshops, STEM Challenges, creative writing, reading and technology skills at libraries over the summer holidays.
Led by the State Library of Queensland, in partnership with the Australian Library and Information Association, Australian Public Libraries Alliance the Australian Summer Reading Club is an annual program that supports continued development of multi-literacy skills in children and young people, including reading, writing, creative arts and multimedia technology skills during the summer months.
To launch Summer Reading Club, Isaac libraries have free club giveaways to collect. Registration is free with online registration putting you in the draw to win one of eight iPods. Register at www.summerreadingclub.org.au or drop into your local Isaac library and friendly staff can help you register. Last year, the Summer Reading Club was a huge success with over 41,000 children taking part across Australia and over 267,919 books recorded as read. Clermont Pool temporarily closed Isaac Regional Council would like to advise the Clermont community that the Clermont Pool will be closed on: Friday December 11 8.30am to 12.30pm This closure is due to a school function being held. Council apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.
Water network maintenance, Clermont Isaac Regional Council would like to advise Clermont residents that water network maintenance will be carried out: Wednesday December 2 to Thursday December 17 9am – 4pm During these works residents may experience an interruption to water supply for 2-3 hours while lines directly affecting their property are being serviced. If residents turn on their taps while servicing is underway on their section of the water network they may notice a rush of air from the tap. It is advised that you do not use your taps whilst servicing is being undertaken. Once servicing is complete, residents should first turn on the tap(s) at the front of their property. This will help remove any air in the water line and return water supply to normal Council apologises for any inconvenience experienced as a result of these works. Fuzzbook contributed by Sarge I found out this week so far that when your on any form of holidays that you are busier than most of the time when you are at work! That’s right, I am on holidays for a little while but not really going anywhere, so still hanging around Clermont keeping a watchful eye on the antics of our not so smart contestants in this game of life. One thing I do miss about work already is the air conditioning, oh and I miss talking to everybody as well, especially the drunk ones that have burning questions regarding getting a truck license at 2am in the morning when they usually can’t string a descent sentence together to save themselves. Anyway enough about my fun, especially the three day camp I am going on with my adopted school, Clermont High, to Fairburn Dam in this lovely tropical weather. I have invested in a fairly sizable battery powered fan, still won’t be enough though. Around the area this week there are increasingly larger numbers of cattle on the roads roaming about chasing green pick wherever they can find it. Be careful when driving and if there are cattle out and you maybe know who they belong to give that person a call and tell them about it or report it to the police or local council. Remember police cannot really do much except contact the owners as well or do a good deal of beeping the horn in some form of wild west amateur roundup fit for Funniest Home Videos! Reports around the traps that people have not been receiving their mail. First of all check with your postie delivery driver and then the post office to make sure there has been no issues in the supply chain. Anybody seeing anyone interfering with mail please report it to policelink on 131444. Ensure that all your address details
are up to date with anyone you might be receiving mail from such as Gold Lotto (most important) and so on. Weekend just gone a wallet was handed into the police station that is obviously a childs wallet with popular cartoon characters on the cover and a fair amount of pocket money inside. Can anybody who might have had a child lose this wallet on Herschel Street around Saturday November 28 please ring the station on 4983 4444 and report it. If you can describe the wallet and the circumstances surrounding the loss and the amount of money roughly in it, then it can be returned. No false calls please as this will result in mockery and possible ridicule. From the front counter of the station, news is there may be some interruptions to service over the Christmas break and so forth. So if you are planning to transact any type of business at the station ring ahead and confirm a time and date. Also when coming to the station cheque and cash is the only methods of payment. With cash as close as possible to correct change is preferred. Ring ahead if you need to know the cost of any licenses or products on 4983 4400. In closing with the annual exodus of some families from town to go on holidays, remember to travel safe and plan breaks and rest stops along your journey. Take something for the kids and adolescents to do more than just listen to music as I know this drives me nuts when we go on a roadtrip. If heading into the big smoke remember to watch out for the kids around strangers, traffic and anything else that can harm them.

Children love Baby Bounce, Storytime and Craft and Rhymetime Have you recently moved to Clermont with a young family and want to meet other young families. The Clermont Library runs several weekly children’s sessions and these sessions are a good way to connect with parents and young children. Bookings are essential please phone 4983 4746 or email Clermont.Library@isaac.qld.gov.au Rhymetime is held from 9.30am to 10am every Tuesday for children up to five years old, where they can sing and dance to nursery rhyme songs. Baby Bounce is held on Thursday from 9.30am to 10am and is aimed at children aged up to two years. Baby Bounce is a chance for parents to interact with their child through movement, music and song. Storytime and Craft time for the littlies is held at the Clermont Library every Friday from 9.30am to 10.30am and caters for children up to Prep age.
Playgroup If you have children under 5 and would like to get out and meet other mums and children, you are always welcome at playgroup on Wednesday mornings (during the school term) at 9.15am in the Clermont State School Hall. On the Shelf Sign up for a Summer Reading Club adventure School is almost finished for the year but children don’t have to miss out on their reading over summer. Isaac Libraries will be participating in Summer Reading Club 2015 and encourage young adventurers to sign up for the Summer Reading Club. Summer Reading Club 2015 will be held from Tuesday December 1 to Sunday January 31 2016. CLASS DESCRIPTION Gut and Butt Blast is a target class that focuses on strengthening and toning the nine core divisions of the abdominal plane. While simultaneously blasting the three muscles of the buttocks, hamstrings and quadriceps. This will increase fat metabolism at rest and help slim and tone those problematic areas. Although not targeted, general whole body conditioning applies and while challenging, is more than suitable for any fitness level. Boot camp Boot camp is a type of outdoor group class that mixes your traditional calisthenic and body weight exercise with interval and strength training. Our boot camp incorporates; tyre flipping and throwing, battle rope work, kettlebell, fence climbing and much more! It is a work at your own pace class, designed to be challenging whilst also having fun! Circuit training This is a form of body conditioning or resistance training using high-intensity/ low-intensity aerobic energy.
It targets strength building and muscular endurance. An exercise ‘circuit’ is one completion of all prescribed exercises in the program. It is highly enjoyable and recommended to all levels of fitness. Lets lift circuit Resistance Circuit works on the principle of Circuit Training with stations broken down into a lower and upper body weights workout, using the subscription of low weights high repetition to develop a challenging total body workout, ensuring lean muscle mass gains. Metafit This is a 30 minute bodyweight training system that gets results! It is a functional and effective, metabolic workout that will change the way you train. Created by a former Royal Marine Commando, Metafit combines the latest HIIT techniques with traditional ‘old school’ bodyweight exercises to set the metabolism on fire! Open gym This is your opportunity to use the Gym facilities, there will be a basic weights program and WOD on offer for your utilisation, or you could just be creative and do your own training. THUMP boxing is a moderate to high intensity cardio boxing class. This class is specifically effective in defining the body’s musculature, while improving balance, flexibility, and co-ordination. The cardio component uses the body’s energy systems and improves your ability to use oxygen, helping you to work harder for longer and burn fat in the process.

Winner of the last competition for 2015 was Marcia Campbell with run downs to Alan McGuiness, Doug Lawrence, Glenda Rieck and Lyn Ilott. Least putts 13 to Alan McGuiness. Pin shots went to Lyn Ilott, Alan McGuiness, Marcia Campbell, Dave Ohl, Essie Wood and Barry Nasser. Vets then enjoyed their bbq lunch in the very welcoming air conditioned Clubhouse. Although this is the last competition for the year, no doubt as in previous years the stalwarts will continue playing on Thursday mornings.
