COUNCILLOR JONES’ COLUMN Another fortnight gone and things still not looking good in Victoria and New South Wales. Just makes you wonder if things are ever going to get back to normal. Oh well, we will all cope I am sure. I have finally shifted back into my office at the truck depot. It has been about three months since I worked out there. Poor old Axel thinks his throat is cut as his lounges aren’t out there. He has been told to “suck it up” but I am still getting plenty of dirty looks. There has been a fair amount of discussion on the amount of rubbish people are just leaving in and around the town. I went and had a look at the area at the back of the grain silos and all through that area. Got to admit I was fairly shocked at the number of dump sites people have made. Fridges, microwaves, tyres, mattresses, car bodies, household rubbish in general and heaps of other stuff can all be found in that area.

What I don’t think people think about is that if Council has to go and clean it up, then the dollar cost has to come from somewhere. Yep, you guessed it. It will be the ratepayers who do the right thing that will have to ultimately pay. Shame on anyone who thinks it is OK to just dump their rubbish wherever. If you see someone doing the wrong thing let Council know please on 1300 ISAACS (1300 472 227). Hopefully a few events will be going ahead shortly. More on that next fortnight. That’s it for now… Lyn and the sulky one.
