PAWS-ITIVE CAMPAIGN UNLEASHED FOR DOG OWNERSHIP A new grassroots campaign to help dog owners with their legal obligations for their furry friends has been unleased by Isaac Regional Council. The Paws-itive Blueprint for Responsible Dog Ownership is in response to the community’s concerns on dog control management in the region. Mayor Anne Baker said there’s no doubt Isaac residents love their dogs – they at times provide us protection, friendship, therapy, exercise and most of all unconditional love. “The Paws-itive Blueprint campaign features three characters – Mary Puppins, Sherlock Bones and Bark Vader – and they will assist in reminding residents in their obligations, community safety and animal welfare,” she said. “This tongue-in-cheek approach is about community education and teaching the basics about responsible dog ownership.

“This has been developed following the Council’s formation of the Domestic Dog Advisory Committee which will assist in promoting responsible dog ownership including registration and microchipping. “This is a community issue and we need to work together to be more responsible for our dogs.” Residents can visit www.isaac.qld.gov.au or their local Council office to find out more about the Paws-itive Blueprint.

CR JONES’ COLUMN Seems a long time ago since I have put pen to paper (even though that does not happen anymore) more like fingers to keyboard. I hope by the time you read this that the weather has warmed up a little. Frosts we have had a plenty, seems as though you hardly ever have one and then all of a sudden there is one morning after morning.
Creek Fun Day (but I was informed that it was a great day and enjoyed by all that could get there) as their new date just happen to coincide with the first Motorkhana that Clermont has hosted.
Plenty happening in the world of Council as usual. Biggest one has been that the budget was finalised. All of the details have been in our publications and on the community page if you do Facebook.
This event was held just out of town and showcased some pretty impressive driving from both the young and not so young. Had plenty of people ask me where my purple ute was so that I could take it out for a bit of a trot. I can tell you, none of the cones would have been safe on the course if I was to do a lap or two. Maybe next time.
Went to a couple of football matches with Marg. One of the days was raining and cold and I just felt so sorry for the players thinking how cold they must have been. Clermont won both matches that we went to see, so well done the Clermont Bush Pigs. We also went to the Life Church’s family concert and barbecue. Just how great is this organisation in their dedication to the youth of Clermont. I just cannot praise them enough. Spent as much time as I had up at Montcler with our “oldies”. Last Friday saw a couple of busloads of residents and others go out to Margaret Martyn’s place where she graciously allowed us to use her back patio to hold smoko. Not sure what Toby thought when he saw all these women invade his place. Attended a Work Camp meeting where we were informed of the name of our newest member of our group and that person was Sharon Jansen. Congratulations and welcome Sharon. Remember if you are a not-for-profit organisation and would like some assistance, make application at the front counter of the council office or I am sure Sharon wouldn’t mind giving you some assistance. This month’s Suit and Tie (monthly council meeting) meeting was held in Carmila on Tuesday. There has been that much going on in our region of late that I have had to miss quite a few functions. This I don’t like as I do try and get to as many things that I can. Missed the Mistake
Axel came out to have a look at all the cars doing their manoeuvres and I have to say, he just loved sitting there with me watching all the cars, swallowing all the dust and getting patted by so many little kids. He was in his element. Must also say thank you to the refreshment tent for catering and enabling me (for Axel) to purchase quite a few sausages for him. This event is a great way for young kids to learn to drive and handle a vehicle and just fun for others. The Clermont Races this weekend and I am sure it will be a great event. Fashions of the field are just one of the many interests that both male and female can participate in. You certainly see some pretty good sights. I hope that the RSL markets were successful and that it wasn’t too cold, also the Church of England hosted their Car Boot Sale and I heard it turned out to be a great day also. See what I mean about so many things going on at the moment. Once again I would also like to acknowledge all the parks and garden people who keep our lovely town looking so great. PUBLIC NOTICES CLERMONT WASTE WATER MAINS CLEANING AND CCTV PROJEC CONTINUATION Clermont residents are advised Council will be continuing the waste water mains cleaning and CCTV inspection throughout the township as part of its commitment to improve waste water removal service quality and delivery. WHAT ARE WE DOING? Council has engaged contractor Relining Solutions to undertake specialised cleaning of waste water mains in Clermont and conduct CCTV inspection of all waste water mains in the township. The Relining Solutions cleaning process involves cleaning waste water mains using steam cleaning technology. Once the mains are clean a CCTV camera will be used to conduct inspections of all waste water mains.

A ‘Pop Up @ The Park’ will be held on Monday,12 August at Centenary Park in Clermont, from 9.30am to 11.30am. The ‘Pop Up @ The Park’ will include a Story Time session that starts at 9.50am.
This is held on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9.30am to 10.30am. Bright, vibrant picture book tales come alive when read by library staff along with a simple craft activity which helps enhance fine motor skill development.
