AMAZING WOMEN RECOGNISED DURING QUEENSLAND WOMEN’S WEEK Eleven inspiring women were recognised at International Women’s Day celebrations across Isaac during Queensland Women’s Week. The 2018 Inspiring Women in Isaac awards paid tribute to women of all ages who inspire, move and have made a positive difference to the lives of those around them. Isaac Regional Council Mayor Anne Baker said these women energise the Isaac region and she couldn’t be more proud to honour them. “Hearing the stories and contributions these amazing women have made was a humbling experience,’ Cr Baker said. “We received 50 nominations from men and women, all personally grateful for the work these women do to make the region a better place to live. “It is women like these that build our communities, encourage respect for women, and remind us of the

SONRISE SECURES PARTNERSHIP TO STRENGTHEN LOCAL MINISTRY contributed by Ps Allan Kelly
Pastor Allan Kelly of Sonrise Clermont and Capella has established a partnership with Life Church that will strengthen local ministry and enable the church to expand support to surrounding towns in our area. This partnership has developed out of a long term relationship with Life Church and its senior leaders, Pastors Geoff and Lee Blight. Allan shared passionately with his congregation last Sunday about this new level of relationship and partnership that will release and underpin local ministry, facilitating outreach and support in surrounding smaller communities. From March 2018 Sonrise Clermont and Capella will take on the Life Church name to enable a greater sense of partnership and strength. “We do not want to be the poor cousin; we are one Life Church family with a shared mission to reach our community. Our partnership with Life Church will enable us to centralise much of the administration that takes so much of our time. This will allow our local team to focus more on connecting with people.” - Pastor Allan Kelly.
Ps Allan and Renita Kelly remain as the Location Pastors and are very excited for the ability to strengthen the local vision. Life Church currently has one location in South Brisbane and is establishing a brand new location on Brisbane’s northside this year. Pastor Geoff Blight shares Pastor Allan’s passion for smaller regional communities. “It is not okay that, in 2018, people in smaller communities do not have access to a life-giving church. We are excited to be working closely with Ps Allan and his team to serve Central Queensland.” - Pastor Geoff Blight. “It’s been on my heart to take what we have been doing in Clermont and Capella to reach out to other towns in Regional Queensland. GET AHEAD OF THE GAME AND PREPAY YOUR RATES
With Isaac rates notices arriving from March 27, it’s time to get ahead of the game. Isaac Regional Council Chief Executive Officer Gary Stevenson PSM said ratepayers can shake off the dread of bill time by prepaying their rates.
Ratepayers who have encountered delays with the postal service in their area can register an email address with Council. “Council is happy to help by sending an additional electronic copy of your rates notice to a nominated email,” Mr Stevenson said.
“Council offers a number of easy payment options including BPAY instalments weekly, fortnightly or monthly,” he said.
“If you’ve moved recently, please remember to update your details with Council so your rates notice can arrive on time.
“This is your chance to reduce the financial burden by paying your rates ahead of time.
“Some financial institutions can take up to three working days to process an electronic payment.
“Prompt payment of rates will secure a 10 per cent discount on general rates, if paid before Thursday, April 26, 2018.
“So please check with your bank or credit union to ensure your payment is received by Council in time to secure your discount.”
“Rates, collected from more than 10,000 Isaac properties, will help Council deliver essential services and capital projects.
To prepay your rates please contact Council’s Rating Team for more details and advice on the estimated amount.
“These include maintenance and upgrades to local roads and water infrastructure to resource recovery, public facilities and much more.”
Council rates and charges that remain unpaid after Thursday, April 26 will incur 11 per cent interest per annum, compounded daily.
The 10 per cent discount applies to general rates, and excludes all special rates and charges, provided outstanding amounts and overdue rates and interest are paid in full by the due date. If you have not received your rates notice by Tuesday, April 10 please contact Council. Ratepayers can register their details and speak to Council’s Rating Team by calling 1300 ISAACS (1300 47 22 27) or email records@isaac.qld.gov.au between 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday. STUDENT OF THE WEEK Prep: Ivy Cunningham for the wonderful effort you put into our Prayer Assembly practices. It was fantastic to see you working really hard to learn your speaking part. You also listened carefully to all instructions. Year 1: Amaira Pathrishi for being a keen quiet and polite class member. Year 2: Luke Finger for demonstrating excellent thinking skills and contributing outstanding insights to class discussions. Year 3: Archer Plate for being an enthusiastic class member. Thank you for always taking part in all classroom activities, especially in our classroom discussions about the reconciliation process. Year 4: Your positive attitude and determination towards learning. It is fantastic to see that you consistently try your best in all subject area. Year 5/6: Kash Johnson for the maturity and helpful attitude that you show in class every day. You are always lending a hand to younger peers and you are growing into a kind and supportive leader.
CR LYN’S COLUMN Can you believe it is past the middle of March already? Seems we have just got over the Christmas frenzy and we are now getting slapped into the Easter festivities. You just wish it would slow down a bit and let everyone have a chance to breathe. Can’t help with that one though. I have been busy since my last catch up. Presented some awards for Cross Country up at the State School. The little kids always make me smile and make my day. Theresa Creek Dam was the most ideal spot for the International Women’s Day the other Friday. Maryanne and Steve did a wonderful afternoon tea for the ladies who attended. I am fairly sure that those who did attend enjoyed the afternoon as much as I did. On Sunday I was invited by the We’re Sewing Outback Clermont group to visit the Workshop/Retreat that had been organised by them for a group of 20 or so women to learn different embroidery techniques by computerised sewing machines. These women came from all over the place. Mossman, Mackay, Hughenden, Rockhampton, Moranbah. After having a chat to all of them, their message to me was that they absolutely loved Clermont.
Our motels, hotels and local business all benefited from their stay here. Theresa Creek Dam could not have been more praised. In fact the ladies held little raffles, games etc amongst themselves and our own Joy Wright was the recipient of one of these prizes. This prize happened to be a ride out to the dam on Mark Brent’s Harley motor bike. This apparently was on Joy’s Bucket List to do - so she can now happily cross that one off. Was an eye opener for me what these ladies can do with their machines, imaginations and coupled with their artistic talents that they all seemed to have. As you can imagine this kind of took me out of the equation as I don’t happen to be that artistically inclined. By the time this goes to print we will have held our Queen’s Baton Relay through town. I am sure it will go off without a hitch with a lot of excited people around participating in this very special occasion. More on this next time.

BABY BOUNCE, STORYTIME, CRAFT AND RHYMETIME The Clermont Library runs several weekly children’s sessions. They are a good way to connect with other parents with young children. RHYMETIME AND CRAFT
STEM sessions, during which children can build with legos or program Ozobots, will be held on Wednesday, 4 and 11 April.
This is held from 9.30am to 10am every Tuesday for children up to five years old, where they can sing and dance to nursery rhyme songs.
All sessions run from 10am to 11am and bookings are essential.

DOWNLOAD FOR EASTER If you are travelling away for Easter, have you thought about downloading a digital audiobook or two to listen to while on the road? Digital audiobooks and ebooks can be borrowed through Bolinda Borrowbox or Overdrive. There are many titles and genres to choose from, including fiction and non-fiction, for both children and adults. If you are an Isaac Libraries member see the friendly library staff to sign up for Borrowbox and Overdrive.
BAG A SALE SHELF BARGAIN New stock is constantly being added to the sale shelves at the Clermont Library so come in, have a browse and grab some bargain-priced books. Most of the ‘sale shelf’ stock is preloved library books, DVDs and other items.
Come along on Thursday from 9.30am to 10am and is aimed at children aged up to two years. Baby Bounce is a chance for parents to interact with their child through movement, music and song. SPOTLIGHT ON AUTHOR Peter Turnbull is a British author best known for mystery fictions and police procedural books that have been published world-wide. Several of his book series are set in Glasgow, Scotland and York, England. Turnbull trained and worked as a social worker before taking up writing full-time in 1995.

GUT AND BUTT BLAST: Is a target class that focuses on strengthening and toning the nine core divisions of the abdominal plane, simultaneously blasting the three muscles of the buttocks, hamstrings and quadriceps. This will increase fat metabolism at rest and help slim and tone those problematic areas. Although not targeted, general whole body conditioning applies and while challenging, is more than suitable for any fitness level. OPEN GYM: This is your opportunity to use the gym facilities, there will be a basic weights program and WOD on offer for your utilisation, or you could just be creative and do your own training. LETS LIFT: This program has been designed to target the eight large muscle groups in a 45 minutes whole body workout. This is achieved through the use of barbell and dumbbell weights. This class is suitable for all fitness levels.
METAPWR: MetaPWR is a fast moving circuit, using moves that need strength, speed and power. All MetaPWR workouts use the entire body,involving your upper and lower body and core muscles. Muscle is metabolically active tissue, so the more muscles you work the more calories you burn. The more calories you burn, the more productive your workouts will be and the faster you will lose fat. CIRCUIT TRAINING: This is a form of body conditioning or resistance training using highintensity/low-intensity aerobic energy. It targets strength building and muscular endurance. An exercise ‘circuit’ is one completion of all prescribed exercises in the program. It is highly enjoyable and recommended to all levels of fitness.
