CLERMONT EXHIBITION OPENS IN LANDMARK BUILDING Visitors will be transported into Clermont’s storey of the Town Hall in Clermont during the 1880s. history books with the recent re-opening of Masonic Lodge. The Peak Downs Masonic Lodge No.1825 was established a year later, on October 13, 1879. Records show that both the Clermont Oddfellows and the Peak Downs Masons met at the upper

own premises.
This structure, built by William Southgate, was completed in July 1913 and has since been relocated to the Clermont Historical Centre where it still stands today. Since 2012, renovations of the lodge include a partially new roof and guttering, new stumps, new drainage system under the building, new landing and stairs at the front entrance, the old asbestos flooring was removed and replaced with new flooring, interior and exterior paint, extensive electrical work, installation of display cabinets, airconditioning and three-phase power. The new exhibition of Towns of Minerals and Metals has also opened at the Clermont Historical Centre. The centre opens from Wednesday to Saturday 9am to 3pm up until its closure on Christmas Eve 2019.

BUBS AND TOTS TO TALK, PLAY, SING AND READ Bubs and tots will benefit from free early literacy activities as part of the state-wide First 5 Forever program available at Isaac Libraries. First 5 Forever encourages parents and carers to talk, sing, play and read more with their young children for the proven and positive impacts these shared family experiences can have on early brain development, and later reading success. A partnership between the State Library of Queensland, the Queensland Government and 78 Queensland Local Governments, the initiative is largely delivered through local public libraries and Indigenous Knowledge Centres. Isaac Regional Council Mayor Anne Baker said she hoped all parents, grandparents and caregivers in the community will come and benefit from the free

Discount period closes May 1, 2019. Ratepayers who encounter delays with the postal service in their area can register their email address with Council for an additional rates notice to be issued electronically.
If you have recently moved or changed your contact details, please check that you have informed Council to ensure delivery of rates notices on time. Ratepayers who make prompt payment on or before May 1, will receive a 10 per cent discount on general rates. If you have not received your rates notice by Friday, April 5 please contact Council.
PUBLIC NOMINATIONS POSITION OF DIVISION 4 COUNCILLOR Under the provisions of the Local Government Act 2009, nominations are invited from eligible members of the community to fill the position of Division 4 Councillor, Isaac Regional Council. A vacancy has arisen in Division 4 following the resignation of Peter Freeleagus, effective 26 February 2019. As per s166(5) of the Local Government Act 2009 (the Act), the vacant office must be filled by the local government appointing, by resolution, a person who is qualified to be a councillor. Under the S166(8) of the Act, the Chief Executive Officer invites nominations from residents of the Isaac Regional local government area to fill the position of Division 4 Councillor.
Nominations close on 29 March 2019. All nominations need to be completed on the appropriate form, which is available from Council’s website and all Council offices. Alternately, prospective nominees can call 1300 ISAACS (1300 472 227) and ask for a form to be forwarded. Nominee Information Packs are also available for download on Council’s website or in hard copy at Council offices. Nominee Information Sessions will be scheduled in Moranbah between March 7-12 with dates and times to be confirmed. BABY BOUNCE, STORY TIME AND CRAFT STORY TIME GROWS Story Time is one of several children’s program held at the Clermont Library each week.
The Clermont Library runs several weekly children’s sessions. They are a great way to connect with other parents with young children.
Every Friday morning for the past 10 years, children and adults have visited the library for an hour of storytelling, singing and craft.
BABY BOUNCE (0-2 years)
Story Time has grown so popular that Clermont Library are holding another Story Time session on Tuesdays from 9.30am to 10.30am.
Baby Bounce is a chance for parents to interact with their child through movement, music and song.

STORY TIME WITH CHILDREN’S AUTHOR It will be a special Story Time at the Clermont Library today, as the library hosts a visit by children’s author, Ellen Madden. Ellen will be touring the Isaac Libraries this month to read her picture book Joseph Was Not Going to School. The book is based on Ellen’s family’s experience of their first child starting school.
SPOTLIGHT ON MARY DAHEIM Mary Daheim is an American author of romance and mystery novels. She graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and worked as a journalist. Her first novel, Love’s Pirate was published in 1983. Daheim continued writing historical romances for several years before switching to writing mysteries.

KIDS CLUB - LIFE CHURCH
We shoot on the first and third Sunday of every month. Arrive at the range at 9.30am to commence shooting at 10am. Anyone who is interested in shooting rifles or pistols are welcome to attend.
Kids Club runs from 4pm to 5.30pm every 2nd Friday of the month during term time. It is for kids from Prep to Grade 6 and held at Life Church, 58 Capella Street.

A very good weekend was had by all last weekend. We had members of the Sarina Club come and join us, and there was a bit of friendly rivalry to be had. Clermont members ended up beating Sarina in the teams event.
Parents are to sign their children in and out when bringing them and a registration form will need to be completed on your child’s first attendance. Friday, May 10 - Minute to win it. Fast paced games for a fast paced night.
