CELEBRATED ARTIST BRINGING PRINTMAKING TO ISAAC Budding Isaac artists of all skills will have a chance to work with acclaimed First Nations artist and master printmaker Jenuarrie, as she returns to the Isaac region to conduct free printmaking workshops. From the 22 February to 27 February, Jenuarrie will facilitate free one-day workshops across the Isaac region. Participants will learn how to create a design using a lino cut and to print that design on paper, with the completed artwork on display from 3 March at the Coalface Art Gallery in Moranbah. Isaac Regional Council Mayor Anne Baker said the theme of the workshops, “celebrating Isaac women” was timely, coming into Queensland Women’s Week and International Women’s Day.
“The public will be able to view the prints on the walls of the Coalface Art Gallery during March.” The printmaking workshops are made possible thanks to grant funding through the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF). The Regional Arts Development Fund is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Isaac Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland. Participants interested in attending a workshop can secure their place by booking in with the staff at any Isaac library or by calling Council on 1300 ISAACS (1300 47 22 27).
Clermont Workshop will be held on Tuesday, 25 February at the Old Clermont Pottery Hut on the corner of Capricorn and Beatty Streets.
“It is a privilege to have an inspirational woman such as Jenuarrie here sharing her skills with locals and visitors,” Mayor Baker said.

ON THIS DAY - 59 YEARS AGO February 1919 On 28 February 1961, the Myalla Theatre was born in Clermont. The Aboriginal name ‘Myalla’ means ‘big talk’. The Board consisted of Mr FF Mills Patron, Mr W Hausenchild President, Mrs W Hausenchild and Mrs ID Bennett were Vice Presidents, Miss Jane Kennedy Secretary and Miss Patricia Petersen Treasurer. The cultural life of Clermont and the district was immensely enriched for many years. The success in establishing such a cultural vibrant lifestyle was owed to the enthusiasm and commitment of the board members. Myalla Theatre went into recess for many years after 1974. The energy and enthusiasm of Lionel Duck and Geoff Baker in 1982 saw Clermont locals again enjoying live theatre for a while. PUBLIC NOTICES 1080 WILD DOG AND FERAL PIG BAITING PROGRAM 2020 Isaac Regional Council would like to advise all graziers that the baiting program for 2020 is scheduled as per the dates set out below.
Round 1 – Monday 9 March to Friday 3 April A second round of baiting will be conducted to provide landholders with an opportunity to undertake further control of wild dog and feral pig populations. Currently this baiting period is scheduled for the dates below.
Round 2 – Monday 24 August to Friday 18 September ‘Doggone’ factory baits are available outside of these times, orders must be made in advance and delivery is approximately three weeks from order date. ‘Doggone’ baits are supplied ‘at cost’. Factory baits are available for purchase through Council. CLERMONT HISTORICAL CENTRE - ANNUAL CLOSURE Isaac Regional Council advises residents and visitors that Clermont Historical Centre will be closed from: 3pm Friday 20 December 2019 Clermont Historical Centre will reopen on: Wednesday 4 March 2020 This annual closure enables Council to proceed with preservation work, digitisation, research and development of the upcoming exhibitions. Council apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.
WATER NOTICES SET TO ARRIVE Isaac water users are urged to keep an eye on letterboxes as water notices are set to arrive from February 2020. The water notices, for the period between July 2019 to December 2019, will be issued to more than 8,500 Isaac properties. Residents are encouraged to pay before 5pm on 13 March 2020. Council’s ongoing water consumption charging program is in effect across all Isaac communities. Council has worked hard to keep this as a fair system to stop lower water consumers subsidising heavy users. Users can set email and SMS alerts and be notified of water leaks and high consumption within days of occurrence through MiWater. Ratepayers can sign up online at www.isaac.qld.gov.au/miwater and visit www.isaac.qld.gov.au/water-charges for more information. Discount period closes 11 March 2020. Ratepayers who have encountered delays with the postal service in their area can register their email address with Council for an additional rates notice to be issued electronically. If you have recently moved or changed your contact details, please check that you have informed Council to ensure delivery of rates notices on time. Ratepayers who make prompt payment on or before 11 March will receive a 10 per cent discount on general rates. Unpaid rates from 12 March will incur 9.83 per cent interest per annum, compounded daily. If you have not received your rates notice by Tuesday, 18 February please contact Council.

ARTS FUNDING UP FOR GRABS
Artists, community groups and workshop creatives are encouraged to apply for assistance in the next round of the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) before it closes on 3 April 2020. Isaac Regional Council Mayor Anne Baker said creativity connects and energises our regional communities, improving our health and wellbeing. “In partnership with the Queensland Government, seven diverse projects were granted funding under Rounds One and Two of the RADF program.” “This included a two-day silver smithing workshop in Clermont, a watercolour workshop in Dysart and a threeday drumming workshop in Moranbah.”
Government was proud to continue its RADF partnership with local governments with an investment of $2.08 million, through Arts Queensland, for the 2019-20 fund. “This investment will support the delivery of hundreds of arts experiences and professional development opportunities across the state,” Ms Enoch said. “Projects funded through RADF provide pathways for learning, contribute to the creation of jobs, foster creativity and boost cultural tourism.” The funding is the last round to be released for the 2019-2020 year, and is available for events, activities and programs happening between 1 July 2020 and 31 October 2020.
“We funded textile workshops, an audio course to upskill locals on using audio equipment for events and performances, sculpting workshops and even professional development master classes in furniture painting.”

We shoot on the first and third Sunday of every month. Arrive at range at 9.30am and commence shooting at 10am. Anyone who is interested in shooting rifles or pistols are welcome to attend.

Learn how to assist a people who are developing a mental health problem or is a mental health crisis.
