ENERGETIC NEW WORKERS WELCOMED TO ISAAC REGIONAL COUNCIL A new generation of workers are furthering their studies and exploring their career prospects as Isaac Regional Council welcomes eight trainees and apprentices to the organisation. At a Trainee and Apprentice Welcome Day held this week in Moranbah, the new recruits were welcomed by Council officers and Councillors, receiving their Council team shirts as a symbol officially joining the Isaac Regional Council team. Mayor Anne Baker said Council was proud to offer a traineeship and apprenticeship program that saw locals and job seekers upskilled, uptrained and job ready across the region.

“These positions combine hands-on work experience with a nationally recognised qualification,” Mayor Baker said. “So far 36 per-cent of trainees and apprentices go on to stay at Council, reflecting our outlook that this organisation is built on the strength of pure people power. “We welcome seven full-time trainees, who will complete their qualifications in one or two years and one full-time apprentice, who will complete their apprenticeship over four years.”

PUBLIC NOTICES 1080 WILD DOG AND FERAL PIG BAITING PROGRAM 2020 Isaac Regional Council would like to advise all graziers that the baiting program for 2020 is scheduled as per the dates set out below.
Round 1 – Monday 9 March to Friday 3 April A second round of baiting will be conducted to provide landholders with an opportunity to undertake further control of wild dog and feral pig populations. Currently this baiting period is scheduled for the dates below.
Round 2 – Monday 24 August to Friday 18 September ‘Doggone’ factory baits are available outside of these times, orders must be made in advance and delivery is approximately three weeks from order date. ‘Doggone’ baits are supplied ‘at cost’. Factory baits are available for purchase through Council. CLERMONT SENIOR BEARS UPDATE
Last weekend saw the Central Highlands Hit out which is a round robin competition providing CH selectors an opportunity to see the talent that’s in the Highlands in 2020. Clermont Bears had a great first Hit out reaching the finals where they were defeated by the Bluff Rabbitohs. The first game had the Bears up against the Emerald Tigers. While the effort was unquestionable and the win was encouraging, it was obvious there was room for improvement in their teamwork. Their second game was against the Emerald Brothers and the Bears improved with a greater cohesive team effort. This win under their belts saw them through to the final against the Bluff Rabbitohs, premiers 2019. This was by all reports a ‘cracker of a game’. The boys defended really well and it was only through the individual brilliance of some of the more experienced Bluff players did Bluff get away with the win. Coach Wilko is very pleased with how the team is coming together. He said there is a great blend of youth and experience, and he is excited by the younger players and their confidence to back themselves with the football. Wilko said the boys did their club and region proud and he is looking forward to the start of the season…aren’t we all!! On the back of the CH Hit Out, the following players have been selected in the squad to represent CH. Congratulations to Patrick Payne, Peter Hall, Brodee Barrett, Brady Williams, Billy Gilbert and Daniel McNamara.
