International Women’s Day, March 8 is the highlight of Queensland Women’s Week, March 7-13.

contributed by Sarge Another week has gone by. Cannot believe we are in Autumn already, the only difference is the air conditioners are not running as much! But seriously it is still keeping warm and with the amount of people hiking around the area it is important to keep well hydrated and take plenty of water for your adventure. This means enough for you and your party and then some. An old trick we had from our farming days as kids is drink your water at normal temperature. If you have it cold, you will drink it way too fast and be in the bushes half the time. Remember my previous message, only hike on land your allowed to, not want to! During the week a stolen car was located in Clermont. Something was suspicious about it to some local lads when they found it at the Showgrounds. There were two different plates, one NSW and one QLD. Anyway to cut a long story short the bloke was wanted on a return to prison warrant. We added some extra charges such as stealing the car and the number plates. Some ladies were happy to get their plates back as they were stolen from a nursing home in Ayr, where they work. Anyway the moral of this story is report anything suspicious, may not be anything in it but there could be.
Reported incidents of property being stolen from the rear of utilities again. Please lock your stuff away particularly if your going to be away from your vehicle. Think of your tools as cash, would you leave $5000 cash on the back of your ute expecting people to just walk passed? I think not. Plenty of good tool boxes available with locks of good quality to secure your stuff. Also remember to hide away valuables particularly when going on trips away. There is nothing worse than having your wallet stolen miles from home. Anyway that’s it for now. Quick joke - An Irish man at the scene of a crime is absolutely going off his trolley at the Sergeant. When asked what’s wrong the man replies that he has a serious crime and police are not taking it seriously pointing at the K9 officer with his dog. “How do you expect to find the robber if you send me a blind policemen?” (By the way I like Irish people). Children’s Easter Holidays activities The Clermont Library will be holding activities for primary school-age children during the Easter school holidays. Holiday Craft sessions will be held on Tuesday March 29and April 5, Thursday March 31 and April 7 from 11am to 12pm. Bookings are essential for the Holiday Craft sessions and all children aged 12 years and under must be accompanied by a parent or a guardian. The ‘First Five Forever’ programs will continue to be held during the Easter Holidays at the normal times. First Five Forever The First Five Forever program aims to give children from birth to five years old the best chance in life and improve literacy outcomes. Babies and children love sharing stories and it’s never too early to talk, read and tell stories with your child. The Clermont Library runs three children’s sessions a week and all programs are aimed at helping young children develop their literacy, numeracy and language skills from a young age, through singing nursery rhymes, performing action songs and reading books. Book Sale Have you checked out the range of preloved library books, CDs and DVDs on sale at the Clermont Library? The shelves are constantly being refilled. All books are in good condition and include fiction, non-fiction and large print. Come in, browse and purchase a hard back for $3, paper back for $2, CD for $2, DVD for $3, or for a bargain, fill an Isaac Libraries Bag for $12. Children love Baby Bounce, Storytime, Craft and Rhymetime Have you recently moved to Clermont with a young family and want to meet other young families. The Clermont Library runs several weekly children’s sessions and these are a good way to connect with other parents with young children. Rhymetime and Craft is held from 9.30am to 10am every Tuesday for children up to five years old, where they can sing and dance to nursery rhyme songs. Baby Bounce is held on Thursday from 9.30am to 10am and is aimed at children aged up to two years. Baby Bounce is a chance for parents to interact with their child through movement, music and song. Storytime and Craft time for the littlies is held at the Clermont Library every Friday from 9.30am to 10.30am and caters for children up to Prep age. QCoal Community Dental Service bringing bright smiles to Clermont Residents of Clermont and the surrounding areas are encouraged to book an appointment with the QCoal Community Dental Service during its visit from Monday 14 March. This free service, delivered by the Royal Flying Doctor Service, will be in Clermont March 14 – 24. Comprising two dental surgeries in a purpose-built semi-trailer, the service provides dental care and treatment in communities where there is limited access to oral health services. The service is funded by the independently owned Queensland mining company QCoal Group through the QCoal Foundation. Anyone can make an appointment, and there is no out-ofpocket cost for patients. QCoal Group Managing Director Christopher Wallin said the service aimed to bring quality oral health care to people in rural and remote communities. “QCoal Foundation was established to enrich rural and remote communities, and I know from talking to our own employees and their families that a lack of access to dental care is a major concern for them,” Mr Wallin said. “Thanks to this service, they can now get the care they need on their doorstep, free of charge,” he said.

RFDS State Services Manager, Lauren Jesberg said the partnership between the RFDS and the QCoal Foundation was last year extended for another three years and represents a significant win for those living and working in rural and remote communities where access to dental care is a major concern. “Our dental experts can provide everything from a simple check and clean, through to an extraction or X-ray. “Booking in advance is crucial, so if you need to see a dentist don’t delay and call 1800 002 507 to make an appointment.” Ms Jesberg said the results supported research that highlighted a lack of access to oral health care in regional communities. “So far we have provided a significant amount of acute treatment. The data we’ve collected well and truly supports the need for the service which has been made possible by QCoal Foundation,” she said. Together, the Flying Doctor and QCoal Foundation will continue to look at ways to enhance the service and partner with Government to ensure the people who live in rural and remote Queensland have access to the same level of oral health care as their metropolitan counterparts. CLASS DESCRIPTION Gut and Butt Blast is a target class that focuses on strengthening and toning the nine core divisions of the abdominal plane. While simultaneously blasting the three muscles of the buttocks, hamstrings and quadriceps. This will increase fat metabolism at rest and help slim and tone those problematic areas. Although not targeted, general whole body conditioning applies and while challenging, is more than suitable for any fitness level. Aqua Fit An excellent fitness class in the water for all ages groups and fitness levels, the class is a combination of deep water and shallow water aquatic exercises designed to improve flexibility, aerobic capacity, muscular strength and endurance. Circuit training This is a form of body conditioning or resistance training using high-intensity/ low-intensity aerobic energy. It targets strength building and muscular endurance. An exercise ‘circuit’ is one completion of all prescribed exercises in the program. It is highly enjoyable and recommended to all levels of fitness.
