CLERMONT RAG FRIDAY FEBRUARY 16, 2018
BIG-HEARTED RESIDENTS LOVE THEIR LOCALS Big-hearted residents in Isaac have got behind a program aimed at encouraging them to spend their dollars locally. The Love Your Local campaign which wrapped up in January, saw locals rewarded for spending $20 or more at businesses within the region. Mayor Anne Baker said buying local creates more jobs, builds better businesses and sustains a strong economy. “Love Your Local challenged residents and visitors to think locally for all their shopping needs,” Mayor Baker said.

CR LYN’S COLUMN This could be a bit of repetition from my item in the Isaac News but I reckon worth mentioning again. Australia Day - Clermont yet again showed its mighty country spirit and came out in full force. How lucky are we to live in such a great country and such a great town. Rain – gosh almost forgot what it was but we had a few inches and it was reasonably wide spread, so let’s hope that most places got some benefit. There are a few events in the pipe line and I will elaborate on these as the time gets closer. If you are like me you would probably forget what’s on if you are given too much notice. One thing I would like to mention is the work that the Work Camp does in Clermont for a lot of Not for Profit organisations. If you are a Not for Profit organisation and would like some painting done, maintenance, mowing , bits and pieces that need doing and you can pay for materials this could be a real option for you. Yes, there will be a bit of paperwork to fill out but assistance can be given so that it won’t be too much of a slog for you. This service is not meant to replace any of our local trades people but it just may help some of our community groups that may not have the benefit of mass funds. If this sounds like something you can utilise, pop in to see me and we will try and sort something out. Until next time.... Lyn

There have also been some great events taking place in Clermont and across the region with some addressing the hard questions around mental illness. We all know that mental illness is more common than we think so it’s great to see organisations tackling the issue head on.

These last few months have been very dry and the resilience of people in our communities seems to shine through hard times. I’m convinced more rain will come shortly.
