ROAD TO COVID-19 RECOVERY STIMULUS PACKAGES LAUNCHED A local cash injection in response to the financial hardship small to medium businesses and community groups are facing is set to help stimulate resilience for the Isaac region’s economic future. Isaac Regional Council is spearheading a local economic response with the Road to COVID-19 Recovery Stimulus Packages. This program features two funding grants to complement the assistance already provided by the Australian and Queensland governments. Mayor Anne Baker said Isaac is a diverse and fiercely independent community which has had its fair share of challenging times in recent years. “We’re now faced with the COVID-19 pandemic and short-term economic instability,” Mayor Baker said. “The Road to COVID-19 Recovery Stimulus Packages has two parts. The first is the Isaac Region Community Chest Fund with grants up to $10,000 available for our small to medium business owners who genuinely need an extra helping hand right now.
“This grant provides short-term business continuity and longer-term resilience assistance. This could help with getting the professional advice, maybe looking to diversify, those re-establishment costs to get up and running again or paying outgoing costs such as bills and rent. “The Isaac Community Chest Fund is proudly supported by its initiating contributors BHP, Anglo American and Aquila Resources/South32 to help Isaac Regional Council deliver this local economic response to the Coronavirus. “We are also working with many other generous supporters to finalise further contributions to the fund. “This business community chest is an ongoing support mechanism for the community, and I encourage those large enterprises that are willing to help to please contact my office. “We’d love to have as many on board as possible as this is a community effort. “We’re very thankful for everyone’s commitment to our region during these trying times. ROAD TO COVID-19 RECOVERY STIMULUS PACKAGES LAUNCHED Continued... “For the second part of this local package, we are encouraging our sporting and recreational groups, our not-for-profit organisations, our cultural groups who are doing it tough to apply for up to $5,000 through our Special Emergency Community Grants. “The social distancing rules and suspension of gatherings has seen the source of revenue to fund recurrent expenses supporting the operations and memberships of organisations take a devastating hit.” Mayor Baker said Isaac’s resilience and determination will be the region’s greatest assets. “This is a time we once again embrace change and chart our own course to a sustainable future during these unprecedented times,” Mayor Baker said.

PUBLIC NOTICES UPDATE - STAGED RETURN OF INTERRUPTED SERVICES Council wishes to advise residents the resumption of interrupted services will return in accordance with Government directives. Some returning services and facilities will have health and safety restrictions in place and signed appropriately. As interrupted services are returned, Council requests community adhere to health and safety directions at all times including; maintaining 1.5m distance from others, practice strong hygiene practices and cover coughs and sneezes.
CLERMONT WASTEWATER SEWER MAINS RELINING Clermont residents are advised Council will be undertaking repairs to the sewer mains within the township, as part of Isaac Regional Council’s commitment to improve wastewater removal service quality and delivery. WHAT ARE WE DOING?
Only some residences will be affected, as such prior to entry a formal notice will be issued by a Council liaison officer 2 days prior to the works taking place. WHEN IS IT HAPPENING? To minimise disruption to households these works will be undertaken:

COUNCIL ENACTS CLERMONT WATER REMISSIONS POLICY Isaac Regional Council has endorsed the application of the Utility Charges Remission - Extraordinary Circumstances Policy, as adopted on Tuesday, 17 March 2020 in response to the recent water discolouration event in Clermont. Residents have been granted to receive an annualised 17-day proportional rates remission for Clermont
properties which receive water consumption and infrastructure charges for the period between 1 January 2020 to 30 June 2020. This remission will be applied as a financial adjustment to the property owner’s next bill issued in the 2020-21. financial year.

CLERMONT BEST IN SHOW IN REGIONAL AGRICULTURE DEVELOPMENT GRANTS Clermont Rodeo and Show Society is a successful applicant in the latest round of Australian Government’s $20 million Regional Agricultural Show Development Grants Program. The $275,778 in total funding will go towards a project to construct additional stables at Clermont Showgrounds, including outdoor picnic tables with disability access seating with the construction and upgrade of grandstand shading. Federal Member for Capricornia Michelle Landry said agricultural shows are a way of life in Central Queensland. “Agricultural shows bring regional communities together. These shows are part of our culture,” Ms Landry said. “They showcase local strengths and hospitality as well as an opportunity for farmers and graziers to share innovative farming techniques. “These shows are needed now more than ever, particularly during times of drought and in a world post Coronavirus (COVID-19).” Clermont Rodeo and Show Society president Jan Burnett said the organisation is appreciative to the Federal Government for providing much needed grant funding for shows in rural and regional areas, especially during the Coronavirus pandemic. “We hold an annual Rodeo, Show and Campdraft, all of which have been postponed or cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions,” Mrs Burnett said.
“This will complete the Horse Stalls and the ‘Announcer’s Box and Grandstand’ projects, which form part of the Showgrounds Revitalisation Master Plan. “The Showgrounds’ Master Plan has been developed over the past two years in collaboration with Isaac Regional Council and the Clermont Saleyards Board. “It is exciting for the community to hear that another section of this visionary Master Plan will be completed in coming months. Clermont Rodeo and Show look forward to working closely with Isaac Regional Council to deliver this further aspect of the plan. “As well as being of huge importance and great benefit to the Clermont Showgrounds, this Federal Government grant will have the added advantage of providing a boost to the local Clermont and Isaac economy, by supporting several local and near local businesses. This funding concept is an excellent example of government helping communities to help themselves.” Isaac Regional Council Mayor Anne Baker said agriculture shows in Clermont had a proud history. “Thousands from around Queensland travel to the Isaac region each year to support the Clermont Show and the Clermont Community as a result. The annual highlight of the show calendar is a massive draw card for our region,” Mayor Baker said. “With these planned upgrades, the Isaac region can continue to host amazing events in Clermont but also draw in bigger events to further benefit the local economy.”
“Established in 1983, the showgrounds on Wattle Hill was in need of an upgrade. “Having celebrated the remarkable milestone of 150 years in 2018, the Clermont Show is the only show in the vast Isaac region of Central Queensland. “The generous grant of $275,778, together with a cocontribution of $62,000 from Rodeo and Show and in-kind support from Isaac Regional Council and other generous local businesses and supporters, will complete the horse stalls’ upgrade, provide a much needed roof over the newly completed Announcer’s Box and Grandstand and a roof over the main show grandstand and pavilion amenity blocks, as well as a number of shaded picnic tables with disability access, improving the comfort, safety, health and wellbeing of competitors, spectators and horses.

Isaac Libraries now offer Freegal Music to patrons. Freegal Music is a free music service offering access to about 15 million songs and over 40,000 music videos.
Kanopy can bring the cinema to you in the comfort of your lounge. Kanopy is an on-demand streaming video platform for public libraries that offers viewers a large collection of award-winning films and documentaries. There are collections on Australian films, popular films, foreign films, documentaries. Kanopy for Kids has many popular children’s TV shows and films! To access Kanopy, you will need to download the Kanopy app on your device and be an Isaac Libraries member to create an account. You will then be able to download 10 films/ documentaries each month, but each download has a time limit for viewing.

Patrons can access Freegal Music through the Libraries, Arts and Cultural Services link on the Isaac Regional Council website or download the Freegal app on to a device. You will need your library membership number and Libero password to access Freegal. You have 24 hour 7 days a week of free music streaming and you can download three titles to keep per week.

SPECIAL EMERGENCY COMMUNITY GRANTS OF UP TO $5,000 Council has repurposed its 2019-2020 Community Grants program to provide direct financial assistance to the numerous community, cultural and sporting organisations in the region.

Council acknowledges community groups may be experiencing financial hardship due to social restrictions preventing events or activities from being held which would normally be a source of revenue to fund recurrent expenses supporting the operations and memberships of organisations. Community organisations may wish to provide support to local households or vulnerable groups impacted by COVID-19 by way of food hampers or goodwill packages providing the essentials of life.
