CLERMONT RAG FRIDAY, 12 JULY 2019

THEY’RE OFF AND RACING AT PEPPERINA PARK Big numbers are expected at Pepperina Park on Saturday 27 July for the Tony Kenny Memorial Clermont Cup, with attendees set to enjoy an afternoon of first-class racing, fashion and entertainment. Mayor Anne Baker said the annual event was a much-anticipated date on the community’s calendar and Isaac Regional Council was proud to be a major sponsor of the event. “Council is pleased to support the Clermont Race Club to host the Tony Kenny Memorial Clermont Cup in 2019,” Mayor Baker said. Division 6 Councillor Lyn Jones said the annual event serves to promote the rich agricultural heritage and social significance of racing in the Isaac and wider Central Queensland. “The feature race honours Clermont racing legend Tony (Pud) Kenny, who was a tireless worker for the local race club over many years,” Cr Jones said. “I am thrilled to once again be a part of this great day and hope to see people from around the region turn up to support Clermont and country racing.”

CLERMONT KINDY DAYCARE PRESENT CASINO ROYALE contributed by Kylie Pember

The community spirit of Clermont will shine again as Clermont Kindy Day Care (CKDC) are set to hold their CKDC Casino Royale night on Saturday, September 21 as their major fundraiser for 2019. This red carpet affair will hit the Central Highlands with glitz and glamor in order to help raise much needed funds to supply the demand for an outside school hours care building, a 12 seater bus and a kitchen to service the Centre. Previous years major fundraisers have been extremely successful with Sip n Style ladies cocktail and fashion evenings. This year however, the doors will be open for the gentlemen of the Central Highlands to join in for a fun filled evening of gaming and live entertainment galore. There will be 12 gaming tables, a roving magician, fire dancers, contortionist and live music provided by Jan Arns. Since major fundraising began in 2015, there have been many improvements at the Centre including new playgrounds which has helped the Clermont Day Care achieve a rating of ‘Meeting’ from the Office of Early Childhood Education and Care. Clermont Day Care are continuing in their efforts to achieve an rating of ‘Exceeding’ with community support. As with previous years events, this Casino Royale event is set to be a truly wonderful evening and will be held at the Clermont Civic Centre, with doors opening at 6pm.

Tickets are to be purchased prior to the evening by contacting Clermont Day Care on 07 4983 2084 or emailing your request to clermontdaycare@bigpond.com Each guest will receive an entry gift, arrival beverage, canape’s and dessert and $1000 worth of gaming chips with their $50 ticket. Anyone planning to attend the event is encouraged to pull out their best red carpet/black tie outfit and glamourize the runway. So gather your friends and family and head to Clermont to show your support and have a great time in the process. For more information about the event and to keep up to date, visit and like our Facebook page, CKDC Presents Casino Royale.

ANGLICAN CAR BOOT SALE contributed by Margaret Henn It’s time to start cleaning out those cupboards again ready for the annual Anglican Car Boot Sale to be held on Saturday July 20 at the Anglican Hall in Daintree Street. As well there will be a ‘give away’ table where interesting oddments are yours for the taking. Morning tea will be available all from 9.30am.
