NATIONAL RIDE2SCHOOL DAY

School bike racks were overflowing on Friday, 13 March when our school students joined more than 350,000 other students from 800 schools around Australia as they participated in National Ride2School Day. National Ride2School Day is Australia’s biggest bike riding party and the signature event of the Bicycle Network as part of their Ride2School program.

Big thanks to Constable Naomi Brabbin who organised the event as she “wanted to give the children an opportunity to ride to school on the road in a safe and controlled manner”.

To ensure everyone’s safety, Constable Brabbin secured the support of Isaac Regional Council, Queensland Fire & Emergency Service, Queensland Ambulance Service and the State Emergency Service.

Police officers rode with students from Spring Park and Centenary Park to their respective Kindy, Daycare and Schools. Riding with full escort from the emergency service vehicles, and with road closures and traffic-managed intersections, the ride was a safe opportunity for students to be educated about road rules and to experience riding to school.

Thank you also to the Clermont Combined Chaplaincy Committee who generously provided a cooked breakfast for all participants at Clermont State High School and Clermont State School upon arrival.

Thank you also to Clermont State High School students Daniel Jackman and Jayden Lawrence (picutred right) for their drone operation expertise, capturing excellent footage of the ride.

Both Daniel and Jayden gained full qualifications for drone operation through a Certificate III in Aviation (remote pilot visual line of sigh,t) offered as part of their studies at Clermont State High School.

Participation in National Ride2School Day is just one of the initiatives of the Clermont Police in their implementation of Bike Education and Road Safety programs, following their successful application for a Community Road Safety Grant. The grant funds received have enabled the Police to purchase much needed resources for the practical implementation of the Bike Education Program. Students can look forward to riding brand new bikes and having helpful directional and road signage set up on their bike education course thanks to the grant funding.

All involved have praised Constable Brabbin for her great organisation of the event and look forward to being involved next year.

PUBLIC NOTICE CUSTOMER SERVICE COUNTERS AND FOYERS - SERVICE INTERRUPTION In accordance with Australian Government directive issued Sunday 29 March by the Prime Minister, operations at all customer service counters and Council foyers will be suspended from close of business, Monday, 30 March 2020, until further notice.

Operations affected include: Customer service counters and Council foyers at Clermont, Dysart, Glenden, Middlemount, Moranbah, Nebo and St Lawrence.

Council recognises that these steps are unfortunate and may cause inconvenience, however, the decision to suspend these services indefinitely has not been taken lightly and is implemented in accordance with current Federal and State Guidelines and in the interests of the health and well-being of our residents.

SKATE PARKS, PLAYGROUNDS, OUTSIDE GYMS, PUBLIC BBQ FACILITIES CLOSURES In accordance with Australian Government directive issued Sunday, 29 March 2020 by the Prime Minister, Council is required to close Council operated skate parks, playgrounds and outside gyms in public outdoor areas.

By order of Isaac Region Council, closures will include all BBQ facilities in public outdoor areas.

Public park areas remain open however may change at a future date.

CAMPGROUND CLOSURES Following the Queensland Government announcement on Wednesday, 25 March 2020 in relation to the closure of all campgrounds in national parks, state forests and state managed recreation and protected areas, in response to the COVID-19 (corona virus) outbreak, Council is now also required to do the same for all Council operated camp sites.

This includes all sites within the Isaac Region as outlined below: • St Lawrence Recreation Grounds • Carmila Beach • Notch Point/Yarrawonga • Lake Elphinstone • Mt Britton • Theresa Creek Dam • Flaggy Rock The closure of camping grounds does not include residential caravan parks.

People who have camp sites booked will receive a full refund for unused camping permits.

LIBRARIES, MUSEUMS, GALLERIES AND COMMUNITY AND RECREATION CENTRES - SERVICE INTERRUPTION Operations to Council libraries, museums, galleries and community and recreation centres will be suspended to meet the latest Australian Government directives from close of business, Wednesday, 25 March 2020.

Operations affected include: •

Carmila Library, Clermont Library, Dysart Library, Glenden Library, Middlemount Library, Moranbah Library, Nebo Library, St Lawrence Library

Clermont Historical Centre and Historic Nebo Museum

•

Coalface Gallery Moranbah and Dysart Art Space

•

Community and recreation centres - Broadsound Centenary Hall, St Lawrence, Carmila Memorial Hall, Clairview Community Centre, Clarke Creek Community Centre, Clermont Civic Centre, Dysart Civic Centre, Dysart Recreation Centre, Flaggy Rock Community and Recreation Centre, Glenden Recreation Centre, Ibilbie Community Centre, Middlemount Community Hall, Moranbah Community Centre, Nebo Memorial Hall, Nebo Recreation Centre)

All pools are currently closed.

PUBLIC NOTICE CLERMONT WASTEWATER SEWER MAINS RELINING Clermont residents are advised Council will be undertaking repairs to the sewer mains within the township, as part of Isaac Regional Council’s commitment to improve wastewater removal service quality and delivery.

Only some residences will be affected, as such prior to entry a formal notice will be issued by a Council liaison officer 2 days prior to the works taking place.

To minimise disruption to households these works will be undertaken:

Council has engaged contractors Relining Solutions to undertake mains flushing/cleaning and relining works.

25 March 2020 to 27 May 2020

The contractors Relining Solutions teams will require entry to some residences yards to conduct these works.

Between 8.30am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday Works in open spaces and public areas may be conducted over the weekends.

FOSSICKING GENERAL PERMISSION AREAS GPA’S CLOSED Following the Queensland Government announcement on Monday, 30 March 2020in relation to the closure of all Fossicking General Permission Areas (GPA’s), in response to the COVID-19 (corona virus) outbreak. Council is now required to close GPA’s which we have tenure of within the Region on State land until further notice.

This includes sites the below fossicking areas outlined below: • Flat Diggings GPA, Clermont • Black Ridge GPA, Clermont • Town Reserve GPA, Clermont • Museum Reserve GPA, Clermont

COUNCIL ENACTS CLERMONT WATER REMISSIONS POLICY Isaac Regional Council has endorsed the application of the Utility Charges Remission - Extraordinary Circumstances Policy, as adopted on Tuesday, 17 March 2020 in response to the recent water discolouration event in Clermont.

Residents have been granted to receive an annualised 17-day proportional rates remission for Clermont properties which receive water consumption and infrastructure charges for the period between 1 January 2020 to 30 June 2020.

This remission will be applied as a financial adjustment to the property owner’s next bill issued in the 2020-21. financial year.

Clean thumb by holding it in the other hand and rotating.

In a circular motion rub the tips of fingers in the palm of the opposite hand.

Dry hands with clean paper towel and use paper towel to turn off tap.
