Mayor Anne Baker said Clermont Showgrounds and Saleyards were important not only to the Isaac region, but the state of Queensland.
On-site community briefing and consultation sessions will be held at the Heritage Building at the showgrounds on Saturday 16 February at both 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm.
“We’re a region that feeds, powers and builds communities. The Isaac has a $212 million beef industry and maintains the State’s second largest cattle herd. The Clermont Saleyards hosts regular stock sales, but is also a significant cattle trucking centre for the state. “The annual Clermont Show is one of Queensland’s oldest and most beloved regional events, last year celebrating its 150th anniversary. We’re eager to future-proof our iconic events and continue supporting our great beef industry.” The draft masterplan plan identifies a range of improvements over the next two decades, including four key milestone projects comprising: • Acquisition of adjacent land to create a new Showgroundsisaacrcouncil Primary Entrance and the development of carparking • • •

“I encourage all members of the community, particularly our key agricultural user groups, to have their say on the proposed outcomes on the masterplan,” Cr Baker said.
The masterplan can be downloaded from the community engagement portal on Council’s website isaac.qld.gov.au/community-engagement. Hard copies are also available at council offices. Recently, President Billy Bell, of the Clermont Race Club, had the pleasure of presenting Letty Slattery of RACQ CQ Rescue with a $1500 cheque. These funds were raised at the recent November race meeting, where the local bookies raffled off a $300 race day bonus bet, raising a total of $500. The Clermont Race Club added an additional $1000 towards the donation to help continue the fantastic work of CQ Rescue in the region. The Clermont Race Club is excited to have already begun preparations for the upcoming Clermont Cup that is to be held on Saturday July 27. Further details will be available as the race day is approaching.

PUBLIC NOTICES CLERMONT LIBRARY PARK TEMPORARY CLOSURE Isaac Regional Council advises Clermont residents that it has closed the Herschel St park area adjacent to the Jacki Finger Library due to localised ground subsidence caused by an infrastructure failure. This was caused by the collapse of an underground water tank on the site and the impact is limited to this area only.
Council is working to repair the affected area and return the park to service as quickly as possible. Council requests that people remain clear of the fenced off work zone for safety reasons until rectification works are completed. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
COMMUNITY CONSULTATION ON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES Isaac Regional Council has developed a draft Economic Development Framework, draft Business Support Strategy and draft Tourism Development Strategy to help drive economic opportunities across the region from 2018 to 2023.

REMISSION FOR 16-DAY EVENT FOR CLERMONT WATER USERS Property owners in Clermont can expect to see a credit applied to their next water notice to recognise the recent period of exceptional circumstances as discussed at last year’s Clermont Water InfoShare.
A factsheet outlining an update to Clermont’s water upgrades and the remission will be distributed via Australia Post from February 8, 2019. It is also available at www.isaac.qld.gov.au/clermont-water
These notices are expected to be mailed from February 12, 2019. Council will apply the remission as a financial adjustment to the property owner’s water account.
If you have any questions in relation to the remission please call Council on 1300 47 22 27.
How are we doing this? The number of days the event lasted, divided by the number of days in the year, multiplied by the normal charge for the service. In the case at Clermont, this event lasted 16 days. If the water account has been paid in full, a credit will be applied to the property and recognised on a subsequent notice.
The payable water notice is for the period July 1, 2018 to December 31, 2018. Residents are encouraged to pay before 5pm on March 15, 2019. CALLING ALL LIBRARY LOVERS It’s Valetine’s Day on February 14 – a day of romance. February 14 is also Library Lovers Day – a day to ‘share library love’ and reconnect with your local library. Isaac Libraries are ‘sharing library love’ during February as they celebrate Library Lovers Month. There are Library Lovers events for everyone, from the littlest library lovers to adult members. Each Isaac Library will hold a week prize draw for borrowers with draws for little library lovers, juniors, teens and adults. Go on a blind date with a book and receive a chocolate heart. Tell people what you love about your local library by writing on a Library Lover heart and adding it to the Library Lover’s Wall.
BABY BOUNCE, RHYMETIME, STORYTIME AND CRAFT The Clermont Library runs several weekly children’s sessions. They are a great way to connect with other parents with young children. BABY BOUNCE (0-2 years) Come along on Thursdays from 9.30am to 10am. Baby Bounce is a chance for parents to interact with their child through movement, music and song. Kids Club runs from 4pm to 5.30pm every 2nd Friday of the month during term time.
Please contact Lloyd on 4983 2010 or Frances on 4983 1478. We shoot on the first and third Sunday of every month. Arrive at the range at 9.30am to commence shooting at 10am. Anyone who is interested in shooting rifles or pistols are welcome to attend.
It is for kids from Prep to Grade 6 and held at LIfe Church, 58 Capella Street. There is no cost for these activities. Parents are to sign their children in and out when bringing them and a registration form will need to be completed on your child’s first attendance.
