EVENT SHOWCASES CLERMONT’S COMMUNITY SPIRIT The Clermont Show - the Isaac Region’s Show did not fail to send attendees’ sneses into overdrive last week. From the rocking music blaring from the rides; the smell of wood fired pizza and dagwood dogs; the brightly coloured slushie cups dangling from every neck; the knee-high roosters with their accompanying crow; to a pumpkin weighing in at whopping 144kgs, thousands were treated to a dazzling experience. From Monday, 27 to Wednesday, 29 June, hundreds of competitors were showcasing their skills, produce or their livestock, hoping to take home a coveted coloured ribbon. Isaac Regional Council Mayor Anne Baker said the Clermont Show – the Isaac Region’s Show emphasises the best the region has to offer. “Local producers got the chance to show off the quality of their stock and produce, highlighting the finest in rural living and celebrating the people at our core,” Mayor Baker said. The Beef Dinner was the prestigious event of the week, with the best cattle producers in the region awarded at the presentation during the night. Mayor Baker said the quality of the winners was exceptional this year.

“Well done to the taste test winners Star of Hope, St Omer and Greenvale. “I would also like to offer my congratulations to Carl and Andrea Moller, who were awarded life membership for their many years of contributions to the Clermont Show.” Mayor Baker wanted to give her compliments to everyone who participated. “We have so many wonderfully talented farmers, artists, showjumpers, exhibitors and woodchoppers, really proving the pure people power of the Isaac.” Following the special 150-year anniversary event in 2018, this years’ show continued to delight, with fireworks and a motocross display a highlight for many on Tuesday night. “The kids especially enjoyed the reptile show and the pig racing,” Mayor Baker said. “On top of all the great activities and rides, I am constantly amazed at the large community involvement each year. PUBLIC NOTICES CLERMONT WASTE WATER MAINS CLEANING AND CCTV RECOMMENCED
WHAT ARE WE DOING? • Council has engaged contractor Relining Solutions to undertake specialised cleaning of waste water mains in Clermont and conduct CCTV inspection of all waste water mains in the township. • The Relining Solutions cleaning process involves cleaning waste water mains using steam cleaning technology. Once the mains are clean a CCTV camera will be used to conduct inspections of all waste water mains.
WHAT TO EXPECT • Council will be working closely with our contractor to minimise any impacts of this work on your daily routine. • There is a possibility that there may be some water escape from the bowl of your toilet. It is advised that a 5 to 10 kg weight be placed on top of your toilet lid to minimise any affects. • A hand delivered notice of when your street will be done will be issued 2 days prior to any cleaning activity this will also include if any vehicle access to your property may be required. • To ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians, appropriate signage will be in place, where necessary.
WHEN IS IT HAPPENING? To minimise disruption to households these works will be undertaken: between 8.30am – 4.30pm Monday to Saturday from Tuesday, June 4 to Friday, July 12

Clermont residents are advised Council have recommenced waste water mains cleaning and CCTV inspection throughout the township as part of its commitment to improve waste water removal service quality and delivery.
WATER METER READS ACROSS ISAAC - JUNE AND JULY Isaac Regional Council’s water meter readers will begin in June to record the water consumption for upcoming water notices. To help ensure the charges are accurate, efficient and reliable, the manual water meter read project will take place across Isaac between the hours of: 6am to 6pm Monday, June 17 to Friday, July 12 The program will not be operating during public holidays and weekends. This is in preparation for the water notices to be issued for the period of January 15, 2019 to June 30, 2019. This notice is expected to be sent to ratepayers in August.
All meter-reading contractors will carry official Council identification. Authorisation to undertake the water meter reads is under Section 37 of the Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act 2008. Council has MiWater, a website where residents can sign up to receive water consumption information. Residents can set email and SMS alerts and be notified of water leaks and high consumption within days of occurrence, see www.isaac.qld.gov.au/miwater. ISAAC REGION COMMUNITY GRANTS ROUND 13 APPLICATIONS CLOSE JUNE 20 Council is committed to assisting local not-forprofit community groups and organisations by providing community grants to fund projects, events and activities which help to develop resilient, adaptive and vibrant communities while contributing to social wellbeing. Round 13 of Council’s Community Grants Program is now open and eligible groups are invited to submit applications for major grants under the program. Applicants are also advised that major community grants will be allocated over three funding rounds in 2019-20

BABY BOUNCE, STORY TIME AND CRAFT DO YOU HAVE? The Isaac Libraries collection of books, DVDs and audiobooks is extensive, and shared between our eight libraries. If you are wanting to borrow a particular book, DVD or audiobook but can’t see it on display, inquire with our library staff. Staff can arrange to source it from another Isaac library or even from other Queensland libraries.

SPOTLIGHT ON COLLEEN COBLE Colleen Coble is an American Christian author of romance, romantic suspense and historical fiction. She has written thirty five novels and novellas that have sold over 4 million copies and has received numerous awards. Her early books were short historical novels and was inspired to write them after one of her brothers was killed by lightning. Coble began writing her first book while working fulltime as a receptionist.

The Clermont Library runs several weekly children’s sessions. They are a great way to connect with other parents with young children. BABY BOUNCE (0-2 years) Come along on Thursdays from 9.30am to 10am. Baby Bounce is a chance for parents to interact with their child through movement, music and song. STORY TIME AND CRAFT (0-5 years) This is held on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9.30am to 10.30am. Bright, vibrant picture book tales come alive when read by library staff along with a simple craft activity which helps enhance fine motor skill development.

KIDS CLUB - LIFE CHURCH
We shoot on the first and third Sunday of every month. Arrive at the range at 9.30am to commence shooting at 10am. Anyone who is interested in shooting rifles or pistols are welcome to attend.
Kids Club runs from 4pm to 5.30pm every 2nd Friday of the month during term time. It is for kids from Prep to Grade 6 and held at Life Church, 58 Capella Street.

The Zone 4 meeting and shoot went well over the weekend. We had visitors from Sarina, Mackay, Rockhampton, Fraser Coast and Brisbane, along with our local shooters. A lot of information was gathered and shooters also enjoyed the social gathering as well.
