HAVE YOUR SAY ABOUT MONASH LODGE’S FUTURE IN CLERMONT Residents are encouraged to discuss openly about the future use of a place known as the centrepiece of aged care services in Clermont at the 2020 Monash Lodge InfoShare next week. Isaac Regional Council, which owns the building that sits on Queensland Government land, is looking at two key themes on Thursday, 13 February 2020 from 5.30pm at 15 Monash Street. The first will be to reinvigorate delivery of aged care services from the centre to align with the purpose of the reserve, the heritage of the facility and provide benefit to the community. The second is should this not be successful, to broaden the scope of potential future uses, programs and services that could be provided at the centre to ensure utilisation of facility that would also provide benefit to the needs of the Clermont community. The community’s ideas and thoughts to the above themes and working with other participants to assess ideas and options will help re-energise the facility. and agricultural town of Clermont since 1990. “The lodge was a place where loved ones received the care they needed,” she said. “More than 12 months ago with the opening of the new Montcler facility at Clermont Base Hospital, Queensland Health discontinued its services from Monash Lodge. “It was a very well used facility however there are limitations in the building design and operation that impact its functionality and service capacity. “In order to better understand and develop a plan to address these limitations, Isaac Regional Council is asking the community what they would like to see the lodge’s future. “We need to understand the gaps in meeting current community needs and what needs and services the facility should meet in the future.” Share your thoughts and ideas online at Council’s website or pick up a hardcopy from your local Council office or local library, or better yet, come along to the 2020 Monash Lodge Infoshare at 5.30pm on Thursday, 13 February 2020 at 15 Monash Street, Clermont.

PUBLIC NOTICES 1080 WILD DOG AND FERAL PIG BAITING PROGRAM 2020 Isaac Regional Council would like to advise all graziers that the baiting program for 2020 is scheduled as per the dates set out below.
Round 1 – Monday, 09 March to Friday, 03 April A second round of baiting will be conducted to provide landholders with an opportunity to undertake further control of wild dog and feral pig populations. Currently this baiting period is scheduled for the dates below.
Round 2 – Monday, 24 August to Friday, 18 September ‘Doggone’ factory baits are available outside of these times, orders must be made in advance and delivery is approximately three weeks from order date. ‘Doggone’ baits are supplied ‘at cost’. Factory baits are available for purchase through Council. CLERMONT HISTORICAL CENTRE - ANNUAL CLOSURE Isaac Regional Council advises residents and visitors that Clermont Historical Centre will be closed from: 3pm Friday 20 December 2019 Clermont Historical Centre will reopen on: Wednesday 4 March 2020 This annual closure enables Council to proceed with preservation work, digitisation, research and development of the upcoming exhibitions. PUBLIC NOTICES EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT FOR RATES Isaac Regional Council would like to advise residents that rates notices will be issued from Monday, 10 February 2020. Discount period closes 11 March 2020. Ratepayers who have encountered delays with the postal service in their area can register their email address with Council for an additional rates notice to be issued electronically. If you have recently moved or changed your contact details, please check that you have informed Council to ensure delivery of rates notices on time. Ratepayers who make prompt payment on or before 11 March will receive a 10 per cent discount on general rates. Unpaid rates from 12 March will incur 9.83 per cent interest per annum, compounded daily. If you have not received your rates notice by Tuesday, 18 February please contact Council.
WATER NOTICES SET TO ARRIVE Isaac water users are urged to keep an eye on letterboxes as water notices are set to arrive from February 2020. The water notices, for the period between July 2019 to December 2019, will be issued to more than 8,500 Isaac properties. Residents are encouraged to pay before 5pm on 13 March 2020. Council’s ongoing water consumption charging program is in effect across all Isaac communities. Council has worked hard to keep this as a fair system to stop lower water consumers subsidising heavy users. Users can set email and SMS alerts and be notified of water leaks and high consumption within days of occurrence through MiWater. Ratepayers can sign up online at www.isaac.qld.gov.au/miwater and visit www.isaac.qld.gov.au/water-charges for more information. ISAAC COUNCIL RELUCTANTLY ACCEPTS CEO’S SUCCESSION PLAN

Isaac Regional Council had a very important motion to consider and adopt at this week’s council meeting, the 12-month strategy to plan for CEO Gary Stevenson’s successor as he moves into semi-retirement in 2021. Mr Stevenson PSM joined Isaac Regional Council as CEO in July 2016 and has guided the organisation through significant challenges and milestones during his time, with more to be achieved in 2020. When he leaves Isaac Regional Council, he will have clocked up 40 years of service to local government; 26 of those as a CEO.

Mr Stevenson said his time with Isaac has been one of the most rewarding, challenging and enjoyable periods in my whole career and I sincerely thank our brilliant team for that.
“Since joining us in early 2016, Gary has been instrumental in shaping the future direction of our council and the region we proudly serve,” Mayor Baker said.
“Of course, I will be here for another twelve months so there are no farewells at this time, but my decision is entirely for personal and family reasons,” Mr Stevenson said.
“The strategy proposed by Gary and adopted by Council to appoint a Deputy CEO in an interim position highlights the consideration and care Gary has for the organisation and our region, not wanting to just move on without facilitating a thorough and careful hand-over to the successful candidate.
“I have great confidence that the right leadership and the right culture for our organisation will ensure that it will continue to perform very well for the communities it serves.”

CELEBRATING LOCAL AUTHORS Did you know there are many talented writers across the Isaac region? Some have had their memoirs, poems or collection of short stories printed. The Clermont Library has several books written by Clermont writers in its collection. If you lived in Blair Athol, reminisce through the pages of Bernie Bettridge’s Bottle Trees & Bougainvillea as he shares memories of Blair Athol, Clermont and district through short stories and poems. Not for the Faint Hearted, by Margaret Finger, recalls the story of pioneer, Eliza Faint, who was born in 1887 and lived on a remote Central Queensland property. Paula Heelan has written Australian Midwives, which is about real-life stories of the miracle of birth. Former Clermont resident, Mark Holmes is featured in Australian Midwives. Paula has also written Outback Governesses – a collection of short stories about governesses educating children in rural and remote areas while receiving a bush education of their own.
