The much loved Clermont Spring Races sported colours aplenty with many dressed in whimsical and creative outfits.
Race 4 – Garraway Group Ratings Band 0 – 60 handicap 1400m One Grey (trained by Brendan Richardson, ridden by Jockey Mark Barnham).
Isaac Regional Council Division 6 Councillor Lyn Jones said the races were another great success.

"Clermont’s races are a true reflection of what we love about regional living,” Cr Jones said. “From first class racing, through to the fun of getting dressed up and having a punt, there’s nothing more exhilarating. “Congratulations to the Clermont Race Club and event organisers for delivering another stellar community event.” Race winners were: Race 1 – CFMEU Class B Handicap 1000m Solartek (trained by Bevan Johnson, ridden by Jockey Robert Faehr). Isaac Regional Council advises Clermont residents that additional fencing will be erected to extend the area of the temporary partial closure at Centenary Park from:
Isaac Regional Council advises Isaac communities and community members of the following Christmas closures over the Christmas/ New Year period:
Monday November 6
The temporary closure is due to a roost of 35,000 little red flying foxes located in the trees on the south bank of Hoods Lagoon (corner of Capella and Lime Streets). Council will continue to monitor the roost and will provide the community with updates should there be any changes. Little red flying foxes naturally migrate through our region from August to January and are known to establish temporary camps in residential areas. Council advises residents not to disturb or attempt selfdispersal of flying foxes. Residents are reminded that it is against the law to harm or disturb a flying fox roost. Remembrance Day came and went with only a few remembering. Almost everyone in Clermont would know first or second hand of a relative that served in one of the many wars. It is a small price for us to pay just to spend half an hour to honour those who have fallen. Let’s hope for more people next year. It has been and will continue to be a very busy time of the year, with all the school presentations and concerts. I enjoy getting to meet a lot of the younger generation that I do not normally get to see. This is the last edition for the year and with that in mind I would like to wish everyone a safe Christmas. The awards look to say thanks to anyone making a difference in their community from loving Nannas volunteering at their local not-for-profit to those rising young sports stars. Isaac Regional Council Mayor Anne Baker said the annual awards are a great way to recognise those unsung heroes who make meaningful and outstanding contributions to the region. “Let’s make sure we acknowledge those welldeserving community members whose work often goes unnoticed,” Mayor Baker said. “We have three regional awards, and local achievement medallions across sport, culture and achievement for individuals and groups. “I also am honoured to choose a recipient for the Mayor’s award in each community” she said.

Plan the outfit, plan the fun but plan for a safe night ahead Party-goers are being asked to plan ahead this festive season to ensure everyone in Isaac enjoys the perfect end to a great night out. When planning a stunning outfit and organising decorations at a local venue, Community leaders have joined forces to encourage residents to include in their plans for a safe journey home and to drink responsibly. Isaac Regional Council Mayor Anne Baker said safety for residents at all times during Christmas and New Year season is paramount. “Christmas is an opportunity to spend time and celebrate with family, friends and work colleagues,” Mayor Baker said. “There’s a lot of excitement when you plan a night out and it’s easy to forget to plan ahead. “This year, just think about a few things like planning your night, watching your mates and knowing your limits.”
Moranbah Police Station Sergeant Adam Dyer, who is also a key member of the Moranbah Liquor Accord, said alcohol-related crime often spikes during the Christmas season. “It’s important to end your night safely – don’t drink and drive and avoid drugs, it’s not worth the risk,” Sgt Dyer said. “Alcohol-related violence will not be tolerated. Fighting is not OK and one punch can kill.” “Remember committing acts of violence in a licensed premise may see you receive criminal charges and a banning order. “We want you to have a good time and arrive home safe. “The last thing we want to do this Christmas is be knocking on your loved one’s door with some bad news.” For more information on how to drink responsibly, visit the Queensland Police website at www.police.qld.gov.au. Children’s Holiday Program The Children’s School Holiday Program is suited to primary school age and bookings are essential. Children 12 years and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times when visiting the library. Culturally-inspired art and craft of several countries competing in the 2018 Commonwealth Games will be featured in the upcoming Children’s School Holiday Program. Clermont Library’s December/January Children’s School Holiday Program starts on Tuesday, December 12 with Summer Reading Club (SRC) craft/activities session and again on Tuesday, December 19 from 10am to 11am. Christmas craft sessions will be held on Thursday, December 14 and Thursday, December 21 from 10am to 11am.
SRC craft/activities sessions start again after Christmas on Thursday, January 4 and will be held on Tuesdays and Thursday mornings from 10am to 11am until January 18. Lego Building/Tech & Gadget sessions will be held on Wednesday mornings from 10am to 11am, during the school holidays.
Summer Reading Club registrations open It’s Game On as registrations for the Summer Reading Club open today. Children can register online through the Clermont Library and upon registration, they will receive a Summer Reading Club ‘goodies’ pack and SRC passport. Passports will be stamped upon completion of an activity and children can receive a bonus prize. The 2017 SRC theme is Game On, celebrating the Australian sporting culture, team-mateship and the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Baby Bounce, Storytime, Craft and Rhymetime The Clermont Library runs several weekly children’s sessions. They are a good way to connect with other parents with young children. Rhymetime and Craft This is held from 9.30am to 10am every Tuesday for children up to five years old, where they can sing and dance to nursery rhyme songs. Baby Bounce Come along on Thursday from 9.30am to 10am and is aimed at children aged up to two years. Baby Bounce is a chance for parents to interact with their child through movement, music and song.
