Isaac commemorates the spirit of the ANZACs The honour and spirit of the ANZACs was embraced at packed services across Isaac on Tuesday April 25.

Residents turned out in droves from St Lawrence to Clermont for dawn and morning services to commemorate Anzac Day. Mayor Anne Baker said attendance was as strong as ever as residents united to pay their respects. “The air was sombre and soulful at the two services I attended this year in Moranbah and Middlemount,” she said. “It was heartening to stand shoulder to shoulder with our communities to reflect on the sacrifices made by our defence forces over the decades.
“Our ANZAC troops included boys, men and women from our rural areas and local towns across the Isaac. “Paying tribute to their tenacity, resilience and heroism is a legacy of our nation and it was great to see so many young people there with their families. “The strong sense of solidarity, sentiment and pride as we came together to remember the ANZACs and all those who fought for our country was as moving and as important as ever.” Isaac Regional Council hosted eight Anzac Day events across Isaac in partnership with local RSL groups and community organisations.

ACA National finals Spectators and camp-drafting enthusiasts saw the best of the best battle it out for top honours at the Australian Campdraft Association’s Gold Cup National Finals at the Clermont Showgrounds April 19-22.

contributed by Sarge Well another busy week around the traps. Hopefully everyone has had their collective fill of campdraft, rodeo and of course dust. The BA weekend seemed to go off without a hitch. Bit of push and shove on the rodeo night by some revellers that had obviously had too much to drink and not enough to do except probably argue about the finer points of politics or more likely uttering those immortal words “What’s your problem?”, “Nothing. What’s your problem?”and so on. A young lady decided that the best thing they needed was a woman telling them what to do, and she to had also had a bit to drink. It was reported she had been knocked out but more than likely just fell over. Anyway all ended well enough with everyone getting to their swags quick smart due probably in part to the cooler weather. Culprits have been identified for the break ins to the Grain Depot sheds and the break in of the canteen at the football grounds as well as burning wheelie bins at the grounds. Action will be taken against them and rest assured a close eye will be kept on them.
Another reminder too parents make sure you know where your kids are and what they are up to. It’s not to just make sure they’re not doing the wrong thing but to make sure they are safe. Good to see so many weddings in town on the weekend. With love in the air like that it is easy to forget about driving while having drink on board. Some revellers came close to going over the limit. Just remember if your going to have a good time and a few drinks have someone as a designated driver or better still catch the buses in town to and from hotels. Couple of crashes during the week. We had a single vehicle crash into a panel fence and tree on the side of the road up at Elgin. All three from the car were fine but were airlifted out just to be sure. The Channel 7 news got it a bit wrong as we didn’t have to extract them from the vehicle and it certainly took us all longer than 40 minutes to get to the scene. With conditions on dirt roads so unpredictable please remember to drive to the conditions.
Another crash on the outskirts of town has seen a B Double truck full of avocados go over. Most of the avocados ended up in the tip but some managed to make it to town. I hear everyone muttering about how to get them ripe because they were headed for overseas markets and were grass green. Anyway old wives this is where you have to tell your tales. Lots of disturbances being reported with neighbours complaining about music at parties, fighting and so on. Just a reminder there is no specific times that music is okay to play ridiculously loud, any time of the day can be too loud. So be nice to each other and respect one another’s sleep time. If police have to come and tell you to turn it off it is for 96 hours, yep 4 days and if you dare turn it back on, you go to court and your equipment comes with us. If it is just your mother shouting at you to clean up your act, get a haircut and get a real job, we may just laugh and walk away. Anyway be good to each other, until next week. The Sarge

‘4721 Star Challenge’ Clermont has reached 4000 stars for the ‘One Million Stars to End Violence’ weaving project. Our aim is to match our postcode of 4721 stars. A star weaving station is set up, so drop in anytime during opening hours and weave a star.
Story Time Adventure Book Program creating memories This program has commenced and is creating memories for young children and their families. It will be held over 10 weeks. Parents and carers of children under five are invited to create their own Story Time Adventure Book. These will create a wonderful book of memories with photos, art, craft, rhyme and story activities. Story Time Adventure Book is a First5Forever program which is about working together to spend time with babies and children in their first years, talking, playing and reading.

Baby Bounce, Storytime, Craft and Rhymetime The Clermont Library runs several weekly children’s sessions. They are a good way to connect with other parents with young children.
Baby Bounce is a chance for parents to interact with their child through movement, music and song.
Rhymetime and Craft is held from 9.30am to 10am every Tuesday for children up to five years old, where they can sing and dance to nursery rhyme songs.
Storytime and Craft time for the littlies is held at the Clermont Library every Friday from 9.30am to 10.30am and caters for children up to Prep age.
Baby Bounce is held on Thursday from 9.30am to 10am and is aimed at children aged up to two years.

Clermont fortunately missed any of the devastation that so many other areas suffered from TC Debbie. It will take a long time for normality to return, and a big thank you to those who helped get things back on track and make others safe. A busy time ahead with tourists making their annual trek, the national camp draft and of course the Clermont Show. After all the wonderful rain we were fortunate to receive our mowers and slashers, which have been working to full capacity. CLASS DESCRIPTION Gut and Butt Blast Is a target class that focuses on strengthening and toning the nine core divisions of the abdominal plane, simultaneously blasting the three muscles of the buttocks, hamstrings and quadriceps. This will increase fat metabolism at rest and help slim and tone those problematic areas. Although not targeted, general whole body conditioning applies and while challenging, is more than suitable for any fitness level. Boot Camp Boot camp in the park does not only get you out of the house, but also the little ones. Each week is a new and exciting full body program.
No week is the same offering a variety and challenges for any fitness level. It’s a fun 30 minutes, while working hard on those fitness goals.
An exercise ‘circuit’ is one completion of all prescribed exercises in the program. It is highly enjoyable and recommended to all levels of fitness.
Pilates Pilates classes build strength, flexibility and lean muscle tone with an emphasis on lengthening the body and aligning the spine.
Lets lift This program has been designed to target the eight large muscle groups in a 45mins whole body workout. This is achieved through the use of barbell and dumbbell weights.
Pilates has a focus on the core which can basically be thought of as the ‘powerhouse’ of you body, but also includes the pelvic floor and lower back. It’s a great low impact class for all ages. Spots are limited so please contact us to get yours today. Open gym This is your opportunity to use the gym facilities, there will be a basic weights program and WOD on offer for your utilisation, or you could just be creative and do your own training. HIIT - High-Intensity Interval Training This training technique commands full effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise followed by active recovery periods. This for of exercise uses power and cardio, keeping the heart rate high and metabolising fat at the same time. Boxing 4 Fitness This is a moderate to high intensity cardio boxing class effective in defining the body’s musculature, while improving balance, flexibility and coordination. The cardio component uses the body’s energy systems and improves your ability to use oxygen, helping you to work harder for longer and burn fat in the process.
This class is suitable for all fitness levels. Metafit This is a 30mins bodyweight training system that gets results! It is a functional and effective, metabolic workout that will change the way you train. Created by a former Royal Marine Commando, Metafit combines the latest HIIT techniques with traditional ‘old school’ bodyweight exercises to set the metabolism on fire.

RADF Grant Program
Round Three opens May 1 Closing Wednesday May 31
Applications must be received before 5pm May 31. The applications for Round Three are for events, programs, or activities from July 1 to September 15, 2017.
