Isaac Libraries have surrendered itself to walk the plank of fun for International Talk Like A Pirate Day this month. The youth of the Isaac are encouraged to put on a well versed accent and embrace the art of cheekiness for the school holiday event. Isaac Regional Council Mayor Anne Baker said libraries across Isaac will unite for the ship-shape affair. “Those who choose to take part will be able find a pirate name, join in a scavenger hunt, create some pirate craft, read a pirate tale and share in the pirate’s treasure,” she said.
Clermont Library session is on Tuesday, September 19 from 10am to 11am International Talk Like a Pirate Day is a parodic holiday created in 1995 by John Bauer and Mark Summers of Oregon, USA. The Queensland Government, through State Library of Queensland, contributes funding to Isaac Regional Council to deliver library services to the public. Cessation of sale, Fossicking Kits Clermont Isaac Regional Council wishes to advise residents and visitors that Fossicking Kits, which include permits to traverse, are no longer available for purchase from the Clermont Council office. Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services (QPWS) has advised that Permits to Traverse are no longer required by fossickers and are not being inspected by QPWS officers. Council will still provide maps and rules previously contained within Fossicking Kits to any person upon request.

Men's Shed initiatives outlined Contributed by Tania Gillies Mayor Anne Baker and local Councillor Lyn Jones, were among a delegation from the Isaac Regional Council who joined members of the Clermont Men's Shed for morning tea and a tour of the facilities and community garden last week.
The Mayor told the gathering she was impressed with how much progress had been made at the shed, and supported the support network it offered within the community, in particular in the fields of mental health and wellbeing. Mayor Baker was also interested in the community garden which had been built to include a citrus grove, fruit trees and vines, raised vegetable plots and was to be expanded to include a series of propagation sheds where members would raise seedlings for use in the garden and for sale to the public. Treasurer Allan Ufer said the ethos of the men's shed was to provide that support network, especially to those who may have recently retired and were looking for ways to keep active and fill their days. This could be via gardening, individual projects or simply companionship.
A number of new initiatives were discussed during the gathering including the desire to attract more members locally. The local shed however is not restricted to retired men, with current members aged from 18 years and also including a small number of women. Membership benefits includes access to a wealth of mechanical, woodworking and metalworking tools and machinery, as well as skilled members who are happy to mentor and assist with projects. The men's shed is located in Powerhouse Lane and is open Monday, Wednesday and Saturday mornings. For further information please contact Allan Ufer on 0408 421 444.

Early bird discount for rates notices Isaac Regional Council would like to advise residents that rates notices will be issued from Monday, September 11. Discount period closes October 10. Ratepayers who have encountered delays with the postal service in their area can register their email address with Council for an additional rates notice to be issued electronically. If you have recently moved or changed your contact details, please check that you have informed Council to ensure delivery of rates notices on time. Ratepayers who make prompt payment on or before Tuesday, October 10 will receive a 10 per cent discount on general rates. If you have not received your rates notice by Monday, September 18 please contact Council. I cannot think of a better way to start last week than a great morning tea at the Men’s Shed followed by the citizenship ceremony for two Clermont residents who are now “fair dinkum Aussies”. If anyone is interested in visiting the Men’s Shed I know that you will be made more than welcome. Apparently they could probably teach even me on how to use a drill – I’ve got to say I think they would have their work cut out on that one!

Ahoy ye pirates! Calling all young pirates – drop anchor at Clermont Library next Tuesday, September 19 for the first of ye holiday craft/art session.
Busythings is an educational e-resource for children available online at Council’s website at www.isaac.qld.gov.au/e-resources.
This be a pirate-themed session as it be Talk Like a Pirate Day and ye can come dressed as a pirate. There be a scavenger hunt with a twist and pirate-themed craft for them little pirates. Ye might like to adopt a pirate name too.
Aimed at children aged three to 11 years, it has activities relating to English, Maths, Art and Music, Exploring the World and Computing.
The rollicking fun be had from 10am to 11am.

Rhymetime and Craft This is held from 9.30am to 10am every Tuesday for children up to five years old, where they can sing and dance to nursery rhyme songs. Baby Bounce Come along on Thursday from 9.30am to 10am and is aimed at children aged up to two years. Baby Bounce is a chance for parents to interact with their child through movement, music and song.

MetaPWR MetaPWR is a fast moving circuit, using moves that need strength, speed and power. All MetaPWR workouts use the entire body,involving your upper and lower body and core muscles. Muscle is metabolically active tissue, so the more muscles you work the more calories you burn. The more calories you burn, the more productive your workouts will be and the faster you will lose fat. This is a form of body conditioning or resistance training using high5.45pm Metafit intensity/low-intensity aerobic Saturday energy. It targets strength building 6.30am – 9pm Open gym and muscular endurance. Sunday 6.30am – 7.30pm

Open gym is only available to Madabout Fitness clientele. CLASS DESCRIPTION Gut and Butt Blast Is a target class that focuses on strengthening and toning the nine core divisions of the abdominal plane, simultaneously blasting the three muscles of the buttocks, hamstrings and quadriceps. This will increase fat metabolism at rest and help slim and tone those problematic areas. Although not targeted, general whole body conditioning applies and while challenging, is more than suitable for any fitness level. Open gym This is your opportunity to use the gym facilities, there will be a basic weights program and WOD on offer
An exercise ‘circuit’ is one completion of all prescribed exercises in the program. It is highly enjoyable and recommended to all levels of fitness. Lets lift This program has been designed to target the eight large muscle groups in a 45 minutes whole body workout. This is achieved through the use of barbell and dumbbell weights. This class is suitable for all fitness levels. Metafit This is a 30 minutes bodyweight training system that gets results! It is a functional and effective, metabolic workout that will change the way you train. Created by a former Royal Marine Commando, Metafit combines the latest HIIT techniques with traditional ‘old school’ bodyweight exercises to set the metabolism on fire.
