Cow tripping at Isaac Libraries Young and old are invited to take a cow tripping adventure at Isaac Libraries this May.
Isaac Regional Council libraries will join over 500,000 children across Australia to giggle through ‘The Cow Tripped Over the Moon’ for National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) at the end of this month. Mayor Anne Baker encouraged children, parents and carers to join the annual fun event in Isaac libraries. “Find out just how many attempts it takes before Cow makes her famous high-flying leap?,” she said. “Every year a picture book, by an Australian author, illustrator and publisher is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, childcare centres, family homes and many other places around the country.” “NSS promotes the value of reading and literacy, the importance of Australia’s book industry and the role libraries play in our communities.”
“Organised by the Australian Library and Information Association, the event in its 17th year.” This year’s chosen book, The Cow Tripped Over the Moon, written by Tony Wilson and Laura Wood and published by Scholastic Australia will be enjoyed around the country Wednesday 24 May. Clermont Show - the Isaac Region’s Show Are your Show entries ready?
The Clermont Show – The Isaac Region’s Show Committee is busy putting the final touches to all of the 2017 Show preparations. We can assure you all that we have another big show planned for you! The Clermont Show gives the people of the Isaac region and beyond, an opportunity to compete, display and view the many and varied talents, and we are very excited to see what talents are out there this year. A favourite for all show-goers is the photography section in the Pavilion. You don’t need to be a professional to enter a photo, and with so many different categories available, we love seeing the fabulous amateur and kid’s entries that come in each year. The creativity and stories that are in the photos is definitely something to check out. Not only does the photography section brighten the Pavilion, so does the horticulture section. With bright roses, striking gerberas and impressive pot plants, all of your senses are sure to get a work out. There are so many art categories to get involved in also. In the handicraft section, there are woodwork categories, leatherwork sections, or if you are handy at a pottery wheel, enter some of your creations you’ve been working on. If you are more of a fine arts artiste, we’d love to see your Central Highland’s scenery using any medium you desire. Don’t forget the wide variety of children’s sections available also. From scrapbooking, to cooking, there is so much to involve the whole family. The stories and memories that are made whilst sitting around the kitchen table decorating four small cakes
is something that young kids will remember for many years to come. Some of the entries are almost too good to eat! The stories that are then told through the scrapbooking section can take you back into your own childhood, and that’s without going through the School displays where all the schools showcase the wonderful work they’ve been doing through the year. Outside of the Pavilion, there are even more ways to get involved with the Show. Do you have chooks, birds or ducks that you want to enter in the Poultry section? Another great display for show goers is walking through the Poultry Pavilion and checking out the big, the small and the exquisite birds that are entered in the Show. For the first time the 2017 Show will also feature the Dairy Goats Competition. So if you are wondering what the difference is between a British Alpine Doe and a Toggenburg Doe, then come and find out first hand on Wednesday morning up above the Poultry Pavilion. Don’t forget the Junior Judging competitions that are held at the Show too. Tuesday afternoon will be the Grain Young Judging and first up Wednesday morning will be the Stud Cattle Young Judging competition. This will be followed by the Beef Cattle Young Judging in the Bull Sale ring. There are so many ways everyone can enter the Show. Great or small, there is a category for you. The Committee is looking forward to seeing the Pavilion entries and all the smiles and laughter on the grounds. Isaac’s stars shine among one million stars to end violence Weave a star and start a conversation at Isaac Regional Council’s latest exhibition at the Moranbah Community Centre this May.
More than 10,000 hand woven stars from across Isaac will be on display as part of the One Million Stars to End Violence exhibition from May 17 to June 30.
This love and peace filled community project was started by Brisbane artist Maryann Talia Pau and is supported by Queensland Government.
Mayor Anne Baker said the exhibition is about taking a stand against violence within our community.
“The stars will feature in a large scale public installation during the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, a peaceful statement against all forms of violence in our communities.”
“One Million Stars to End Violence is a peaceful global weaving project that engages communities in a conversation about ending all forms of violence,” she said. “One million stars represents how monumental the task of ending violence. “It demonstrates that everyone needs to participate to end all forms of violence. “Each star represents a person’s commitment to practice light, hope, courage and solidarity.”

The First 5 Forever Story Time sessions, running until June 23, feature the Adventure Book program. Mayor Anne Baker said the sessions are an opportunity to create a wonderful book of memories with photos, art, craft, rhyme and story activities. “Children love talking about what they have seen and done, these books will become their very own personalised story. “As well as being a treasured family keepsake, parents and caregivers can use the scrapbook as an easy tool to create conversations and boost their child’s language skills.

Story Time Adventure Book Program creating memories The Story Time Adventure Book Program has proven to be popular in creating memories for young children and their families. Each week has a different theme and today’s theme is ‘Night Time/ Mother’s Day’.
Hey - the Cow Tripped Over the Moon Hey Diddle Diddle. Did you hear about the cow tripping over the moon? Come along to Clermont Library’s National Simultaneous Storytime session on Friday May 26 from 9.30am to 10.30am. National Simultaneous Storytime is held annually through Australia and aims to encourage young children to read and enjoy books. Each year a picture book written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator is chosen. This year the book chosen is ‘The Cow Tripped Over the Moon’, written by Tony Wilson and illustrated by Laura Wood.
Clermont Show is near! The Clermont Show will be held from May 29 to May 31. The Arts and Craft pavilion always pulls a crowd and shows off the talent of local artists, photographers, sewers, knitters, cooks, gardeners and more. If you need a little inspiration for your show entries, come and check out the range of art and craft books at the Clermont Library.
Don’t worry if you are unable to attend Storytime one week as all rhyme sheets and craft/activities sheets will be available for the duration of the 10-week program.

‘4721 Star Challenge’ Clermont has reached 4200 stars for the ‘One Million Stars to End Violence’ weaving project. Our aim is to match our postcode of 4721 stars. A star weaving station is set up, so drop in anytime during opening hours and weave a star.

Baby Bounce, Storytime, Craft and Rhymetime The Clermont Library runs several weekly children’s sessions. They are a good way to connect with other parents with young children.
Baby Bounce is a chance for parents to interact with their child through movement, music and song.
Rhymetime and Craft is held from 9.30am to 10am every Tuesday for children up to five years old, where they can sing and dance to nursery rhyme songs.
Storytime and Craft time for the littlies is held at the Clermont Library every Friday from 9.30am to 10.30am and caters for children up to Prep age.
Baby Bounce is held on Thursday from 9.30am to 10am and is aimed at children aged up to two years.

CLASS DESCRIPTION Gut and Butt Blast Is a target class that focuses on strengthening and toning the nine core divisions of the abdominal plane, simultaneously blasting the three muscles of the buttocks, hamstrings and quadriceps. This will increase fat metabolism at rest and help slim and tone those problematic areas. Although not targeted, general whole body conditioning applies and while challenging, is more than suitable for any fitness level. Boot Camp Boot camp in the park does not only get you out of the house, but also the little ones. Each week is a new and exciting full body program.
No week is the same offering a variety and challenges for any fitness level. It’s a fun 30 minutes, while working hard on those fitness goals.
An exercise ‘circuit’ is one completion of all prescribed exercises in the program. It is highly enjoyable and recommended to all levels of fitness.
Pilates Pilates classes build strength, flexibility and lean muscle tone with an emphasis on lengthening the body and aligning the spine.
Lets lift This program has been designed to target the eight large muscle groups in a 45mins whole body workout. This is achieved through the use of barbell and dumbbell weights.
Pilates has a focus on the core which can basically be thought of as the ‘powerhouse’ of you body, but also includes the pelvic floor and lower back. It’s a great low impact class for all ages. Spots are limited so please contact us to get yours today. Open gym This is your opportunity to use the gym facilities, there will be a basic weights program and WOD on offer for your utilisation, or you could just be creative and do your own training. HIIT - High-Intensity Interval Training This training technique commands full effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise followed by active recovery periods. This for of exercise uses power and cardio, keeping the heart rate high and metabolising fat at the same time. Boxing 4 Fitness This is a moderate to high intensity cardio boxing class effective in defining the body’s musculature, while improving balance, flexibility and coordination. The cardio component uses the body’s energy systems and improves your ability to use oxygen, helping you to work harder for longer and burn fat in the process.
This class is suitable for all fitness levels. Metafit This is a 30mins bodyweight training system that gets results! It is a functional and effective, metabolic workout that will change the way you train. Created by a former Royal Marine Commando, Metafit combines the latest HIIT techniques with traditional ‘old school’ bodyweight exercises to set the metabolism on fire.
