Isaac Christmas Lights Competition Let the lights shine in Isaac. Enter your Christmas lights display in Clermont's Christmas Lights Competition.

Each year, Isaac unites to share the spirit of Christmas through their Christmas Lights Competition.

Clermont residents are being urged to get involved this year. Nominations open on Friday November 10.

To enter, simply go to www.isaac.qld.gov.au/christmaslights or pick up an entry form at your local Council office.

Prizes awarded to Best Residential:

Entries close: Friday December 8 Judging will take place from Tuesday December 12 to Thursday December 14.

Entrants should have their lights displayed between 7pm and 10pm during the judging period.

Hugh Van Cuylenburg - The Resilience Project

A crowd of over 120 Clermont men gathered in The Commercial Hotel’s Beer Garden for a night without the wife and kids. The beer was cold, the burgers were big and the guest speakers were amazing.

The idea behind The Resilience project started when Hugh Van Cuylenburg was a volunteer teacher in India and met what he calls the happiest kid he has ever met.

Rob Cook kicked off the evening in style with the inspirational story of his personal life.

This boy had no family, slept in a gutter every night, had shoes that he cut the toes out of so they could still fit, but was still the happiest kid in the world.

A hard working cattle man, rodeo rider and father, he had it all until one day when mustering, he was in a helicopter crash which left him a quadriplegic for the rest of his life.

Rather than be confined and restricted by his chair, he has accepted this challenge to his life and responded by still running a cattle farm and exploring new and innovative ways of fattening and marketing his produce.

The partnership that he has with his wife Sarah is extraordinary and his book, “When the Dust Settles” is a mandatory read for anyone who starts to feel a little down about their life.

Yet here we are on the other side of the world whinging that the internet isn’t working, the tv is on the blink or some other trivial stuff.

Hugh researched it when he came home and The Resilience project was born.

His talk to 120 Clermont men was mesmerising and there was not a murmur to be heard for the hour that he spoke.

The feedback from the night has been amazing, so much so that the organisers are already planning on bringing The Resilience project back to town and also planning what Jugs & Jocks may look like in 2018.

Public Notices Clermont Hardcourts - Works for Queensland Regional Hardcourt Renewal/Repair Program

1080 Wild Dog and Feral Pig Baiting Program 2017

Isaac Regional Council advises the Clermont community that construction on the Clermont Hardcourts Work for Queensland - Regional Hardcourt Renewal/Repair Program has commenced on:

Isaac Regional Council would like to advise all graziers that the baiting program for 2017 is scheduled as per the dates set out below. Please Note: Baiting will only be conducted during the below periods.

Thursday September 28 to Thursday November 30

Monday October 16 to Friday November 10 For this round of 1080 baiting, Council will strictly be delivering the following service provision:

6am to 6pm - Weather permitting

Wild Dog baits will be rolled.

During this construction period temporary fencing will be erected around the tennis, netball and basketball courts. There will be no public access to the construction site during this period, access will be restricted to contractors only.

Feral Pig baits will be injected.

Council and the contractors are mindful of residents needs and has programmed activities to minimise potential impacts and thanks the community for their cooperation during this construction period.

The Regional Hardcourt Renewal/Repair

‘Doggone’ factory baits are available outside of these times, orders must be made in advance and delivery is approximately three weeks from order date.

‘Doggone’ baits are supplied ‘at cost’. Factory baits are available for purchase through Council.

Temporary closure - Clermont Pool Isaac Regional Council advises the Clermont community that the Clermont Pool will be temporarily closed on:

Saturday November 4 8am to 6pm This temporary closure is due to a swimming carnival being held.

Temporary partial closure of Centenary Park, Clermont Isaac Regional Council advises Clermont residents that Centenary Park will be partially closed from: Friday October 13 The temporary closure is due to a roost of 6,000 little red flying foxes located in the trees on the south bank of Hoods Lagoon (corner of Capella and Lime Streets).

Little red flying foxes naturally migrate through our region from August to January and are known to establish temporary camps in residential areas.

Council advises residents not to disturb or attempt self-dispersal of flying foxes. Residents are reminded that it is against the law to harm or disturb a flying fox roost.

Council’s website contains answers to common questions around flying foxes at www.isaac.qld.gov.au/flying-foxes.

If you require further information please contact Council’s Customer Service Centre available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 1300 ISAACS (1300 472 227).

Council will continue to monitor the roost and will provide the community with updates should there be any changes.

Round One now open Closing Friday, November 24

Applications are now open for Round One of the RADF Grant Program. Applications must be received before 5pm on Friday, November 24.

The applications for Round One are for events, programs or activities from March 1 to May 31, 2018.

Baby Bounce Come along on Thursday from 9.30am to 10am and is aimed at children aged up to two years.

SPIN/Revolution You’ll learn correct technique for improved performance and have fun cycling.

Revolution Express is a halfhour session being added to the program. All indoor cycling classes are moderate to high intensity classes.

CLASS DESCRIPTION Gut and Butt Blast Is a target class that focuses on strengthening and toning the nine core divisions of the abdominal plane, simultaneously blasting the three muscles of the buttocks, hamstrings and quadriceps.

This will increase fat metabolism at rest and help slim and tone those problematic areas. Although not targeted, general whole body conditioning applies and while challenging, is more than suitable for any fitness level.

MetaPWR MetaPWR is a fast moving circuit, using moves that need strength, speed and power.

All MetaPWR workouts use the entire body,involving your upper and lower body and core muscles.

Muscle is metabolically active tissue, so the more muscles you work the more calories you burn.

The more calories you burn, the more productive your workouts will be and the faster you will lose fat.

Circuit training This is a form of body conditioning or resistance training using highintensity/low-intensity aerobic energy. It targets strength building and muscular endurance.

An exercise ‘circuit’ is one completion of all prescribed exercises in the program. It is highly enjoyable and recommended to all levels of fitness.

Created by a former Royal Marine Commando, Metafit combines the latest HIIT techniques with traditional ‘old school’ bodyweight exercises to set the metabolism on fire.
