People power to energise Governor's visit Stories of Isaac's resilience, camaraderie and strength were shared during the 26th Governor of Queensland's visit to Clermont and Moranbah this week.

Residents from all walks of life showcased Isaac to His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC and Mrs Kaye de Jersey. Isaac Regional Council Mayor Anne Baker said people power was at the heart of the representative of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queensland’s Head of State’s visit today. “The Governor’s visit is perfectly timed, visiting Clermont State High School as it celebrated 150 years,” she said. “He met with residents of Monash Lodge as part of Seniors Week this afternoon. “This morning, His Excellency received a briefing from Council, met with community leaders and organisations, and saw capital works underway in Isaac. “This year, our communities felt the devastating impact of Tropical Cyclone Debbie.
“The road to recovery is long and challenging, with extensive damage to our regional road infrastructure and the impact to some producers from heavy flooding and large stock losses. “But it is the resilience and determination of our people, such as the valued community leaders, which is our greatest asset. “When times get tough, we stick together. “Our capital project works in water security and resource recovery that will help build Isaac’s future are full steam ahead. “The Governor toured works on the $10.59 million Moranbah Reservoir and Associated Works and the $7.16 million Moranbah Resource Recovery Centre Expansion and Improvement Project. “Both projects are being delivered in partnership with Queensland Government under the Building our Regions Program.”

The CLERMONT RAG Government House operations were relocated to Mackay from Fernberg – the official Brisbane residence of Queensland Governors since 1910 – for Regional Government House from Thursday, August 17 to Wednesday, August 23.
The Governor was a former Chief Justice, with a career that spanned across 36 years.
The Governor and Mrs de Jersey will undertake more than 35 program elements during their time in regional areas.
The Governor is appointed by The Queen upon advice provided to her by the Premier of Queensland.

Prepare for a discount ahead of rates letterbox drop Get ahead of bills and pre-pay rates with an early bird discount as Isaac Regional Council delivers the first round of 2017-18 notices next month. Residents will expect the delivery of their rates notice from Monday, September 11.
CEO Gary Stevenson PSM said rates, collected from more than 10,000 Isaac properties, will help Council deliver essential services and capital projects. “These include maintenance and upgrades to local roads and water infrastructure to resource recovery, public facilities and much more,” Mr Stevenson said. “Isaac is a great place to live, work and relax – it’s a safe, energetic and flourishing region, valued for its friendly and enjoyable lifestyle. “Every day, Isaac Regional Council works with residents and local communities to help make our region what it is today with a long term vision for the future. “For a great overview of how your rates are spent, check out the ‘Where Do My Rates Go?’ factsheet on Council’s website.” Rates notices will be issued from Monday, September 11 and early payments will secure a 10 per cent discount on general rates when paid before Tuesday, October 10. The 10 per cent discount applies to general rates, and excludes all special rates and charges, provided outstanding amounts and overdue rates and interest are paid in full by the due date. Mr Stevenson strongly encouraged to get ahead of their bills and prepay their rates.
“You have the option to BPAY payments weekly, fortnightly or monthly,” he said. “To prepay your rates you can use the biller code and reference number from your previous rates notice. “It’s important for ratepayers to update their postal and contact details with Council to ensure rates notices arrive on time. “Ratepayers who have encountered delays with the postal service in their area can register an email address with Council. “Council is happy to help by sending an additional electronic copy of your rates notice to a nominated email.” Rates and charges that remain unpaid after Tuesday, October 10 will incur 11 per cent interest per annum, compounded daily. If you have not received your rates notice by Friday, September 18 please contact Council. Ratepayers can register their details and speak to Council’s rates team by phoning 1300 ISAACS (1300 472 227) or emailing records@isaac.qld.gov.au between 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Clermont Post Office - end of an era contributed by Cr Lyn Jones The Clermont Post Office will see the end of an era this month as we say goodbye to Gary and Tina Fisher. The Fishers have been cheerfully serving our community behind the counter for an impressive 12 years and 1 month, and will be missed by everyone who pops in to post a letter, make a purchase or simply just to have a chat. As a town we are lucky to have businesses and business owners who are so deeply embedded in our community. These connections are part of what binds us together and keeps us economically strong. This is an important reminder that the longevity of local business is heavily dependent on local support to keep the wheels turning. Fortunately the Fishers will continue to live in Clermont and are looking forward to their retirement after a small break away. With plenty of hobbies between them such as fancywork, lacework and gardening, I'm sure Gary and Tina will have no trouble filling their newfound free time with various projects as well as enjoying the many friendships they have formed in Clermont over the years. The new owners of the Post Office are also Clermont locals and we wish them, along with Gary and Tina, the best of luck for the future.

To the Clermont Community We would like to say a very big thank you to the community and our valued sponsors for all your wonderful support and efforts in making our 2017 Campdraft a success. The draft was held on the 10th and 11th of June and we had full nominations for the school and all drafts. The school and draft have been running for well over 20 years and provides an opportunity for children and adults alike to practice their camp drafting skills. It also provides funds for the pony club for the year to provide its youth members with opportunities of riding and education in the area of the equine world. We even managed to fit in a Stallion charity auction for our community and raised a total of $4850; with proceeds going to 5 local charities: RFDS, Meals on Wheels, HACC, Monash Lodge and CQ Rescue and our long time sponsor and supporters, the Connelly Family. The Clermont Pony Club is a small not for profit organisation that relies on the generosity of many community members to pitch in and make our weekend a success; this year we had fantastic help and could not have done it without all the support we received. Lego Robotics Team championing fun
September School Holiday program
Clermont's team is well on its way to becoming champions at programming Lego Robotics.
The September school holidays are fast approaching and Clermont Library staff are busy planning fun activities to help keep the children entertained during the break.
The team has been meeting weekly on Monday evenings under the mentorship of a local teacher. The team is training for the TechFest to be held in Dysart in October.

CLASS DESCRIPTION Gut and Butt Blast Is a target class that focuses on strengthening and toning the nine core divisions of the abdominal plane, simultaneously blasting the three muscles of the buttocks, hamstrings and quadriceps. This will increase fat metabolism at rest and help slim and tone those problematic areas. Although not targeted, general whole body conditioning applies and while challenging, is more than suitable for any fitness level. Open gym This is your opportunity to use the gym facilities, there will be a basic weights program and WOD on offer for your utilisation, or you could just be creative and do your own training.
All MetaPWR workouts use the entire body,involving your upper and lower body and core muscles. Muscle is metabolically active tissue, so the more muscles you work the more calories you burn. The more calories you burn, the more productive your workouts will be and the faster you will lose fat. Circuit training This is a form of body conditioning or resistance training using high-intensity/low-intensity aerobic energy. It targets strength building and muscular endurance. An exercise ‘circuit’ is one completion of all prescribed exercises in the program. It is highly enjoyable and recommended to all levels of fitness. Lets lift This program has been designed to target the eight large muscle groups in a 45 minutes whole body workout. This is achieved through the use of barbell and dumbbell weights. This class is suitable for all fitness levels. Metafit This is a 30 minutes bodyweight training system that gets results! It is a functional and effective, metabolic workout that will change the way you train. Created by a former Royal Marine Commando, Metafit combines the latest HIIT techniques with traditional ‘old school’ bodyweight exercises to set the metabolism on fire.

Golf News Last Sunday the men played their 6th Monthly Medal. Overall winner Warren Marr, runner up Richard Beale. A Grade winner Warren Marr, B Grade winner Richard Beale the C Grade winner John Ilott. Pin and approach shots won by Warren Marr, Jamie Beale, Kim Williams and Brayden Mahoney. Ladies played a stableford event won by Rhonda Bleakley, runner up Lyn Ilott. Pin and approach shots won by a visitor Robyn, Rhonda and Lyn. This week men will play a stableford and ladies will play their 6th Monthly Medal. Don’t forget to get your 4 person team organised for the Crokers Sponsored Ambrose fun day on Saturday, September 2.
