Anzac Day services across Isaac Towns across Isaac from St Lawrence to Clermont will hold dawn and morning services to commemorate Anzac Day on April 25.
The sombre morning parade in Clermont is an annual tradition carried out in towns throughout Isaac. Pictured here, Clermont’s parade 2016.
This year marks the 102nd anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War.
“These troops included boys, men and women from our rural areas and local towns including Clermont, Nebo, Carmila and St Lawrence.
Mayor Anne Baker said Anzac Day is one of Isaac’s and the nation’s, most important commemorative occasions.
“They stood side by side to fight for our freedom and left us with a powerful legacy.”
“I’m looking forward to attending the Moranbah dawn service and Middlemount morning service this year,” she said. “In 2017 we will reflect on the significant Western Front battles of the Flanders Offensive and the SinaiPalestine campaign.
Mayor Baker said our troops took part in every major British offensive between 1916 and the Armistice in 1918 and more than 46,000 ANZACs lost their lives. For details on Anzac Day events around Isaac visit Council’s website www.isaac.qld.gov.au/anzacday or call 1300 ISAACS (472 227).
“After the ill-conceived Gallipoli campaign, almost 300,000 Australians served on the Western Front in France and Flanders. Isaac... helping to energise the world

Rates dates extended in wake of Cyclone Debbie Isaac Regional Council would like to advise residents that both the rates due date and discounted rates period has been extended in the wake of Cyclone Debbie. Discount period closes and rates due Wednesday May 10 If you have not received your rates notice please contact Council. Ratepayers can register their email address with Council for an additional rates notice to be issued electronically. Ratepayers who make prompt payment on or before Wednesday May 10 will receive a 10 per cent discount on general rates. Where ratepayers have an existing direct debit arrangement with Council, this will proceed on Friday April 7. Council understands some ratepayers may be experiencing hardship and encourages them to apply for a payment arrangement where circumstances exist which may prevent payment within the appointed time. Council will also consider concessions or remissions where unusual and serious circumstances exist. Applications should be able to demonstrate unusual and severe difficulty rather than the usual frustration and trial to which everyone is subjected from time to time. Residents can get ahead and prepay their rates. You have the option to BPAY instalments weekly, fortnightly or monthly. To prepay your rates use the BPAY Biller Code and Reference Number on your rates notice. CLASS DESCRIPTION Gut and Butt Blast Is a target class that focuses on strengthening and toning the nine core divisions of the abdominal plane, simultaneously blasting the three muscles of the buttocks, hamstrings and quadriceps. This will increase fat metabolism at rest and help slim and tone those problematic areas. Although not targeted, general whole body conditioning applies and while challenging, is more than suitable for any fitness level.
Each week is a new and exciting full body program. No week is the same offering a variety and challenges for any fitness level. It’s a fun 30 minutes, while working hard on those fitness goals. Pilates Pilates classes build strength, flexibility and lean muscle tone with an emphasis on lengthening the body and aligning the spine. Pilates has a focus on the core which can basically be thought of as the ‘powerhouse’ of you body, but also includes the pelvic floor and lower back. It’s a great low impact class for all ages. Spots are limited so please contact us to get yours today. Open gym This is your opportunity to use the gym facilities, there will be a basic weights program and WOD on offer for your utilisation, or you could just be creative and do your own training. HIIT - High-Intensity Interval Training This training technique commands full effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise followed by active recovery periods. This for of exercise uses power and cardio, keeping the heart rate high and metabolising fat at the same time. Boxing 4 Fitness This is a moderate to high intensity cardio boxing class effective in defining the body’s musculature, while improving balance, flexibility and coordination. The cardio component uses the body’s energy systems and improves your ability to use oxygen, helping you to work harder for longer and burn fat in the process.
Circuit training This is a form of body conditioning or resistance training using high-intensity/low-intensity aerobic energy. It targets strength building and muscular endurance. An exercise ‘circuit’ is one completion of all prescribed exercises in the program. It is highly enjoyable and recommended to all levels of fitness. Lets lift This program has been designed to target the eight large muscle groups in a 45mins whole body workout. This is achieved through the use of barbell and dumbbell weights. This class is suitable for all fitness levels. Metafit This is a 30mins bodyweight training system that gets results! It is a functional and effective, metabolic workout that will change the way you train. Created by a former Royal Marine Commando, Metafit combines the latest HIIT techniques with traditional ‘old school’ bodyweight exercises to set the metabolism on fire.
