Clermont Show - The Isaac Region’s Show Clermont Show Youth Competition contributed by Kate Flohr The Clermont Show Committee is excited to once again host the Youth Competitions as part of this year’s Clermont Show - The Isaac Region’s Show, including the very popular Mini Miss Showgirl, Junior and Mini Rural Ambassador competitions.
The Junior Rural Ambassador category is open to both male and female entrants and eligibility has an age bracket of 15 to 20 years. The Mini categories in both the Miss Showgirl and Rural Ambassador competitions invite children ( boys or girls) in Primary School Years 3 to 6, to enter and become involved. Brendan Brieffies, the 2016 Rural Ambassador encourages more young people in the region to get involved. Brendan said, “Rural Ambassador was a fantastic opportunity to meet some like-minded young people with a passion for agriculture. “I would definitely recommend entering to any young person who works in or is interested in the agricultural industry”.
2016 Miss Showgirl, Johanna Robertson said, “Showgirl is a vital part of the show movement as it encourages young ladies to become involved in their local Show. “It’s a lot of fun being able to get dressed up and meet new people through the Show, as well as making lifelong friends through other showgirls of our Central Highlands region”. The interviews and judging for Senior, Junior and Mini Miss Showgirls and Rural Ambassadors will take place on Saturday May 6 at the Anglican Hall, Clermont. Announcement of winners and presentations will be held that evening at Clermont Show’s family event Fun in the Gum. Monster car boot sale and book fair contributed by Margaret Henn The annual Anglican Car Boot Sale has come round again! This will be held on Saturday May 13 in the grounds of the Anglican Hall and will take the format of past years. Selling sites available in the Church grounds and a Trash and Treasure sale in aid of the Church inside the hall.
If it rains the event will continue inside the hall. Donations of goods for sale in the Trash and Treasure are really appreciated. The hall will be open to receive donated items on Thursday May 11 and Friday morning May 12. Donations maybe delivered earlier by arrangement with Margaret on 4983 1406 or 0427 622 662.
This year it will incorporate a Book Fair where most books will be available for $1 each. Books for every taste are available.
If no one is at the hall items may be left on the front stairs. It’s a chance to clean out your cupboards all wares will be gratefully received.
The breakfast barbeque will commence at 8am and the hall will open at the same time for the sale of items donated to the Church for sale. The hall will close as 12pm.
We already have an interesting array of second hand items, some unused, plus furniture looking for a new home.
Morning tea will be served in the hall from 9.30am. Spaces will be available outside the hall for the cost of $10 per site. It is not necessary to book, but sites may be reserved by ringing Margaret on 4983 1406 or 0427 622 662.

Rates dates extended in wake of Cyclone Debbie Isaac Regional Council would like to advise residents that both the rates due date and discounted rates period has been extended in the wake of Cyclone Debbie. Discount period closes and rates due Wednesday May 10 If you have not received your rates notice please contact Council. Ratepayers can register their email address with Council for an additional rates notice to be issued electronically. Ratepayers who make prompt payment on or before Wednesday May 10 will receive a 10 per cent discount on general rates. Where ratepayers have an existing direct debit arrangement with Council, this will proceed on Friday April 7. Council understands some ratepayers may be experiencing hardship and encourages them to apply for a payment arrangement where circumstances exist which may prevent payment within the appointed time. Council will also consider concessions or remissions where unusual and serious circumstances exist. Applications should be able to demonstrate unusual and severe difficulty rather than the usual frustration and trial to which everyone is subjected from time to time. Residents can get ahead and prepay their rates. You have the option to BPAY instalments weekly, fortnightly or monthly. To prepay your rates use the BPAY Biller Code and Reference Number on your rates notice. Fuzzbook contributed by Sarge Can I first start this week by apologising for not getting the article in for the last few weeks. Its been quite an adjustment at home especially having the wife back on board and it has taken a lot of effort to get back to normal. I feel for every one of us in this small town that are going through similar situations as loved ones progressively get worse or better as the case may be. I think living in a small community certainly helps out at a time like this. I would especially like to thank everyone that has welcomed my wife Kris back and have given her their best wishes. However I hope this tapers off a little bit over time as its taking quite a long time to do groceries and finish meals with all the talking which is said to be a side effect of the operation, ha ha only kidding!! Now on the policing front. We are coming up to Easter so plenty of focus on the highways looking for the hooligans. Found one on Sunday who was trying to make it through to Hughenden before dark (at 6pm), which is why we clocked him at 163 km/h, low level flying. I mean at this speed do you have to tell the driver they are an idiot or is it just implied? Certainly no let up with speeders but generally those big speeds are not coming through as much anymore, which is a good thing.
Disappointment all round with drink drivers though over the last few weeks. The number of local people getting caught just trying the quick drive home is on the increase. Readings from the drivers would indicate that people are having a few too many extra and then taking the risk. With four hotels and four courtesy buses again is the idiocy implied? Crime again is low with a few break ins recorded this year as I have previously mentioned which had juvenile offenders dealt with. Damage to the mothers room at the IGA again by the same juveniles. A break in of a vehicle on the highway that was left there for weeks occurred, with property and the battery being stolen. Another reminder not to leave anything valuable in a vulnerable position. It is a shame the Rodeo was cancelled and now looking forward to the Campdraft Grand Finals which I will have extra police in town for. So if you see some city coppers trying to work out the business end of a cow or horse feel free to provide advice. Storytime Adventure Book Program begins April 21 For 10 weeks as part of our Storytime sessions we will be running the First 5 Forever Storytime Adventure Book program. First 5 Forever is about spending time with babies and children in their first years, talking, playing and reading, so that growing brains get what need at the right time. Parents and carers of children under 5 are invited to create their own Storytime Adventure Book. The scrapbooks will help create a book of memories with photos, art, craft, rhyme and story activities.

Children love Baby Bounce, Storytime, Craft and Rhymetime The Clermont Library runs several weekly children’s sessions. They are a good way to connect with other parents with young children.
Baby Bounce is a chance for parents to interact with their child through movement, music and song.
Rhymetime and Craft is held from 9.30am to 10am every Tuesday for children up to five years old, where they can sing and dance to nursery rhyme songs.
Storytime and Craft time for the littlies is held at the Clermont Library every Friday from 9.30am to 10.30am and caters for children up to Prep age.
Baby Bounce is held on Thursday from 9.30am to 10am and is aimed at children aged up to two years.

Clermont Ladies Netball This season for ladies netball we have decided to do something different. We are hoping to run a split competition with two different grades: ‘competitive’ and ‘social’. The games will still be played on Tuesday nights and will run parallel with each other. We are taking individual and team nominations. To nominate a team: Message us with your team name, captain (inc contact number and email address), bib colour and your choice of whether you want to nominate for the social or competitive competition.

HIIT - High-Intensity Interval Training This training technique commands full effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise followed by active recovery periods. This for of exercise uses power and cardio, keeping the heart rate high and metabolising fat at the same time.
Open gym is only available to Madabout Fitness clientele. CLASS DESCRIPTION Gut and Butt Blast Is a target class that focuses on strengthening and toning the nine core divisions of the abdominal plane, simultaneously blasting the three muscles of the buttocks, hamstrings and quadriceps. This will increase fat metabolism at rest and help slim and tone those problematic areas. Although not targeted, general whole body conditioning applies and while challenging, is more than suitable for any fitness level.
Boxing 4 Fitness This is a moderate to high intensity cardio boxing class effective in defining the body’s musculature, while improving balance, flexibility and coordination.
Boot Camp Boot camp in the park does not only get you out of the house, but also the little ones. Each week is a new and exciting full body program. No week is the same offering a variety and challenges for any fitness level. It’s a fun 30 minutes, while working hard on those fitness goals. Pilates Pilates classes build strength, flexibility and lean muscle tone with an emphasis on lengthening the body and aligning the spine. Pilates has a focus on the core which can basically be thought of as the ‘powerhouse’ of you body, but also includes the pelvic floor and lower back. It’s a great low impact class for all ages. Open gym This is your opportunity to use the gym facilities, there will be a basic weights program and WOD on offer for your utilisation, or you could just be creative and do your own training.
The cardio component uses the body’s energy systems and improves your ability to use oxygen, helping you to work harder for longer and burn fat in the process. Circuit training This is a form of body conditioning or resistance training using high-intensity/low-intensity aerobic energy. It targets strength building and muscular endurance. An exercise ‘circuit’ is one completion of all prescribed exercises in the program. It is highly enjoyable and recommended to all levels of fitness. Lets lift This program has been designed to target the eight large muscle groups in a 45mins whole body workout. This is achieved through the use of barbell and dumbbell weights. This class is suitable for all fitness levels. Metafit This is a 30mins bodyweight training system that gets results! It is a functional and effective, metabolic workout that will change the way you train. Created by a former Royal Marine Commando, Metafit combines the latest HIIT techniques with traditional ‘old school’ bodyweight exercises to set the metabolism on fire.
