Story of Cola de Mono

The cola de mono (monkey's tail) or colemono is a traditional drink of the Christmas season in Chile. It is

prepared with a grape brandy called pisco, but it can be substituted with another type of grape brandy,

brandy or vodka. For our Jamaican version, we can use rum, of course! In addition, it also contains milk,

sugar, coffee and some spices for flavor, such as orange peel, cinnamon, cloves, vanilla or nutmeg.

The name of this drink has several theories about its origin, the most popular is that it was sold in a

bottle of Anís del Mono, from Spain, very popular in America, whose label showed a monkey with a very

long tail.

Of course, there are commercial and homemade versions, it is up to each person to prepare it at home,

it is also a matter of making some space to prepare this drink, since it needs a few hours to be ready. If
