Widely recognized as “the Jimi Hendrix of the ukulele,” Jake Shimabukuro has become a oneman army advancing the ukulele cause. In the hands of Shimabukuro, the traditional Hawaiian instrument is stretched and molded into a complex and bold new musical force, creating a sound that is technically masterful, emotionally powerful, and utterly unique in the music world. Shimabukuro has taken the ukulele to points previously thought impossible, completely reinventing the tiny instrument while picking up millions of fans throughout the world.

With a dozen musicians and songs in 25 languages, Pink Martini brings its multilingual repertoire to concert stages across six continents. After making its European debut at the Cannes Film Festival in 1997 and its orchestral debut with the Oregon Symphony in 1998, the band has gone on to play with more than 50 orchestras around the world, including multiple engagements with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl, the Boston Pops, the National Symphony at the Kennedy Center, the San Francisco Symphony, and the BBC Concert Orchestra at Royal Albert Hall in London. Pink Martini has released 11 studio albums on its independent label, Heinz Records (named after founder Thomas Lauderdale’s dog), and has sold over 3 million albums worldwide.
