For this edition’s fashion shoot, sleek looks took center stage against the backdrop of the iconic Milwaukee Art Museum; a huge shoutout to the fashion team who elevated the shoot to a new level (page 58). We then visited The Atrium with Events to a T to showcase the hottest wedding décor trend (page 68). Brimming with inspiration, this issue truly has it all, from wedding party fashion (page 36) to food-focused advice (page 42), the latest beauty products (page 34), local love stories to inspire your day (page 127) and more. But the biggest trend of the season? Hosting an event that’s true to YOU. Embrace your interests as a couple and tune out the outside noise (but always listen to your planner!). LA DOLCE VITA
Nestled in the heart of Red Cedar Lake lies an enchanted retreat where rustic charm blends with the nostalgia of northern lake life. With a rich history dating back to 1903, Stout’s Island Lodge was inspired by the iconic Great Camps of the Adirondack Mountains, known for their grand lakeside architecture. Today, this quintessential Midwestern lodge has become a popular destination for lovebirds to tie the knot.
Drawing inspiration from the tranquil surroundings, historic beauty and natural elements, Ellie Reimer of Olive Branch Events Co., in collaboration with Madison Dahlquist Photography, sought to infuse the spirit of an Italian summer into the North Woods. A joyful color palette of tangerine, buttery yellow, soft pink and lavender set an inviting tone for the alfresco affair. From a romantic picnic by the stream to a private canoe vow exchange on glistening waters, each moment was steeped in magic. The intimate ceremony on the dock, surrounded by pastel blooms, felt like a dream come to life. A candlelit tablescape with rattan accents and delicate flowers captured a flawless balance of effortless elegance and garden whimsy. As a final flourish and an ode to Italia, The Bitsy Bar’s blue “Vesbar” offered Aperol and Limoncello spritzes as a refreshing ending to this dreamy summer day.

SOMETHING OLD MADE NEW
A one-of-a-kind gown is a dream for many brides envisioning their wedding day, and Corinn Ebel was no exception. After considering more traditional options — and even buying a white gown — Corinn felt that she’d made a mistake. Instead of paying out of pocket for “something new” or waiting for a flurry of birds and mice to craft a bespoke dress, this bride-to-be took matters into her own hands. One month before her wedding day, she overnighted a 2018 Sherri Hill set from a boutique in Kentucky and began her work on repurposing the skirt into her wedding gown. “Every night when my fiancé went to sleep, I would pull out the garment bag and work on my dress with my grandmother’s old sewing machine,” reflected Corinn about working tirelessly through the evenings leading up to her wedding day.
Just one week before the wedding, she completed her sustainable masterpiece. The result was a stunning spaghetti strap, square-neck fuchsia gown adorned with cascading ruffles that effortlessly complemented Corinn’s natural beauty. Contrasted against the vibrant botanicals featured in her bouquet and her platinum blond hair, Corinn’s unforgettable hand-crafted gown truly allowed her personality to shine: “I felt confident and, most importantly, like myself for our day.” — Ryley S. Roses are the classic symbol of love and romance, so it was fitting that they were a key element in the ceremony design for Morgan and Connor’s timeless wedding day at Bishops Bay Country Club. Creating an ethereal ambience amid the venue’s prestigious grounds, Sarah Lopez of Melody Rose Designs and Chastity Stanila of Copper Feather Events made the couple’s dream come to life. An abundance of single-stem white roses lined the aisle, leading up to a meadow of lush blooms overlooking the water. The soft scent of the roses lingered in the air, adding a magical touch to the already enchanting scene. “It was such a simple, modern and elegant statement—walking through a path of roses to say, ‘I do!’” Lopez states. Taking the elegance a step further, all the roses were repurposed and placed into bud vases alongside the newlyweds’ sweetheart table, where they continued to whisper their romance throughout the evening. —Sydney Stevens

BEYOND THE LENS
With over a decade of experience, C. MAE PHOTOGRAPHY (@cmaephoto) goes beyond the lens to share the details of boudoir photography, including common misconceptions, tips for loosening up in front of the camera and more. —Sydney Stevens
WHAT IS THE BENEFIT OF BOOKING A BOUDOIR SESSION PRIOR TO THE WEDDING DAY?
Our goal is to make you feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera, whether it’s for a boudoir session or your special wedding day. We understand that stepping in front of the lens can be intimidating, which is why we offer exposure therapy through engagement sessions and boudoir shoots. By the time your wedding day arrives, you’ll feel like a pro, effortlessly hitting all those perfect angles.

HOW DO YOU HELP BRIDES FEEL COMFORTABLE AND CONFIDENT DURING A BOUDOIR SESSION?
Nudity is approached with respect and professionalism, as we believe it is not inherently sexual but rather a form of artistic expression. Our goal is for you to have a great time, feel comfortable and leave with images that may positively change your self-perception. After the session, you will have the opportunity to handpick your favorite images, ensuring that you are completely satisfied with the results. We are committed to providing a safe and nonjudgmental environment where you can truly be yourself. Don’t forget the power of music to set the mood. Feel free to create a playlist that energizes you, or I can share my boudoir playlist on Spotify with you.
WHAT ARE SOME COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS PEOPLE MAY HAVE ABOUT BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHY?
One common misconception is that you must meet certain physical standards to participate. We want to assure you that boudoir photography is for everyone, regardless of age, body type or imperfections. We invite you to come to your boudoir session just as you are, flaws and all. Embrace your uniqueness and let us capture your beauty in a way that makes you feel confident and empowered.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO BRIDES WHO MIGHT FEEL NERVOUS OR SELF-CONSCIOUS ABOUT DOING A BOUDOIR SHOOT?
Embarking on a boudoir experience can feel like a leap into the unknown, but rest assured, our studio spaces are designed with your comfort and confidence in mind. We believe that every individual deserves to be celebrated through art that empowers and uplifts, reminding you of the strength and beauty within you.

THE WEDDING PARTY EDIT
THE HOTTEST FASHION TRENDS TO ENSURE YOUR WEDDING PARTY FEELS CONFIDENT AND LOOKS FLAWLESS ON THE BIG DAY

FASHION-FORWARD
BLOOMS AND JEWELS AND EMBROIDERY, OH MY! FIVE HOT MENSWEAR TRENDS HITTING THE AISLE THIS WEDDING SEASON
While the bride and bridal party often steal the spotlight, the groom and groomsmen play a crucial role in making the day unforgettable. As wedding fashion evolves, men are stepping up their style game with bolder, more daring attire choices. A misaligned hem, a loose stitch or ill-fitting pants can throw off the entire look, so it’s key to have a solid foundation and a clear vision of what you want. Once you’ve nailed the basics, it’s time to have fun with accessories, textures, colors, florals, you name it. Let your personality shine through by embracing one, or two, of these trending details that can make your style truly your own.

TWO IS BETTER THAN ONE
Monogamy might be one of the reasons you’re getting married, but that doesn’t mean you have to commit to just one wedding day look! While brides have been switching from floor-length gowns to fun reception outfits for years, it’s time for grooms to catch up. “Whether it’s swapping a traditional tuxedo jacket for a velvet dinner jacket or changing into a sleek, more relaxed fit for dancing, this trend is becoming increasingly popular,” says Adam DuBois of DuBois Formalwear. Take notes from this groom who chose a classic black tux for the ceremony and changed into a white ensemble for the reception.

FULL BLOOM
Flowers are not just for the bride. From dainty flower patterns to large bloomadorned lapels, florals are in full bloom in the menswear sphere this wedding season. “Rather than a simple boutonnière, grooms are leaning into more intricate floral lapel designs, sometimes cascading or integrated with pocket squares,” DuBois explains. “This complements the rise in floral prints and embroidered details in suiting.” Depending on your celebration’s floral design, opt for something that will work with the color palette, bouquets and tablescapes in harmony.

SAVE THE DATE
You chose your wedding date for a reason—whether it holds sentimental significance now or not, it will become a date you cherish forever. More grooms are now incorporating this special date into their attire as a meaningful custom detail. “Personalization is key,” DuBois says. “From monogrammed linings to custom embroidery, grooms want their suits to tell a story.”

FAST ABROOCHING
Not into florals? No problem. For the groom seeking a modern alternative to the traditional boutonniere or pocket square, opt to adorn your lapel with a brooch. Often passed down as a family heirloom and holding significance, this chic addition can be a way to pay homage to your loved ones and background. The options are truly endless; you can find these accessories during a vacation with your partner, at the thrift store or during wedding band shopping. “Brooches are a sophisticated way for grooms to personalize their look,” DuBois adds.

Whether you have a specific vision, texture, or hue in mind, working with an expert allows you to craft the look of your dreams, making every decision with intention.
“We’re seeing requests for unique fabrics, colored tuxedos and non-traditional silhouettes to reflect individuality,” says DuBois.

“Full-service dining adds a sense of luxury and sophistication, perfect for couples wanting a truly polished wedding experience.”
This style also adds a personalized culinary touch. “With a plated meal, couples can offer guests a curated menu with elevated dish pairings, ensuring every detail—from flavors to plating—is intentional and memorable,” Williams says.

MOSTLY FOURS: STATIONS
“Interactive food stations might be beneficial to a couple if they like menu customizations for each guest, want to encourage chef interaction, add a bit of fun to their event and have enough space in the venue to do it!” suggests David Porto, partner and general manager of Blue Plate Catering (@blueplatecatering).

MOSTLY FIVES: FOOD TRUCKS
I think food carts at weddings are a great option for many reasons,” Jon Rosnow of Common Pasta (@commonpastamadison) shares. “I think the biggest reason is that you can budget multiple food carts with different cuisines for the same cost as one single caterer who might offer the same food. Food carts are also willing to accommodate food and dietary preferences on the fly.”
“Although food carts don’t offer table service and require your guests to walk out to place and receive their orders, it does get people moving around at a wedding and not sitting at a table or waiting in a buffet line,” Rosnow says.

SUN-KISSED SOIRÉE
With an airy summer garden atmosphere and plenty of custom features, Rebecca Alcock and Theo Taylor’s wedding proved that experimenting with unique ideas can make any dream wedding come true. Conceptualized by the bride, the celebration replicated the feeling of a cheery summer picnic, with plenty of pale green, pink and peach hues throughout the design. The fresh flowers were thoughtfully placed in wicker baskets throughout the outdoor space. Hydrangeas, zinnias, roses and daisies from Sage Floral created colorful accents to the lush lawn. The Carriage House at Lac La Belle was the perfect venue choice, with enchanting tea lights and flawless natural surroundings that felt like a fairy tale. Sunshine kissed the entire scene, highlighting the vivid and verdant countryside. Every choice was intentional and created a wholly unique experience, like when they pressed flowers together as a unity ceremony with lovely cello music in the background. The couple signed their marriage license on each other’s backs during the ceremony, and two guests were surprised with the opportunity to serve as official witnesses – each guest looked under their chair after arriving, where the two lucky people received a present. Other special features included a mini canoe paddle that served as the guestbook and a loveseat Rebecca and Theo shared during the ceremony. The pair didn’t hesitate to push boundaries while planning, and the result was a whimsical day of festivities that could not have better met their desires and imagination.

BEST REAL WEDDING PINK DOOR EVENTS (@pinkdoorevents)
With deep ties to Washington Island, Chelsea Peppa and JJ Hafermann hosted a colorful celebration filled with personal touches, thoughtfully planned by Rachel Pinkham of Pink Door Events. A cheerful palette of red and white, with pops of pink, evoked a sense of nautical nostalgia, fitting for the island soirée. The artistic stationery and signage, crafted by the bride, incorporated meaningful iconography from the island, adding a playful element to the design. Embracing a vintage flair, the bride wore her grandmother’s wedding dress, accessorized with the same beaded bridal bag her grandmother had carried on her own wedding day. She also honored the ‘60s with a chic second look, featuring an oversized bow. JJ looked dashing in a custom double-breasted ivory suit paired with a pink and white striped shirt, adhering to the celebration’s color scheme. The sailcloth reception tent was a work of art, featuring red and white striped linens, white lanterns and custom-embroidered napkins placed at each setting. The cherry on top? A cherry pie dessert made by the groom’s mother, a tribute to the beloved Door County classic.

BEST EVENT DESIGN
BRIAR LOFT (@briarloft) & ELEVATE EVENTS (@elevate.events)
Briar Loft and Elevate Events collaborated seamlessly to create a oneof-a-kind wedding for Molly and Ryan Simon at The Edgewater Hotel. Elements of Madison were effortlessly woven through the design, with hues of green inspired by the “Up North” vibe, the rich colors of a Wisconsin Fall and the picturesque backdrop of Lake Mendota. Inspired by the couple’s first meeting at a dive bar, Elevate Events brought that nostalgic essence to life with bar signs, leather chairs and pool cues. From the espresso bar and escort card display featuring handwritten notes to each guest to the classic black-and-white checkered dance floor and tablescapes illuminated by olive taper candles, every detail was carefully chosen to yield an unforgettable experience.
Working alongside the stunning design from Elevate Events, Briar Loft composed an enchanting atmosphere that left guests speechless. A floral arch, a staircase draped in lush greenery and a breathtaking floral installation over the dance floor transformed the venue into a blooming fairytale. In a beautiful gesture, the floral arrangements were donated to Petal It Forward, which created over 70 bouquets for local nursing homes and hospitals.

Draped in Romance
AN ARTISTIC-MEETS-ORGANIC WEDDING DESIGN CREATES AN ETHEREAL ATMOSPHERE AT THE ATRIUM
PHOTOGRAPHY: Emily Barbara Photography PLANNING & DESIGN: Events to a T TEXT: Sydney Stevens VENUE: The Atrium

My design choices were inspired by the opposition of the more industrial venue compared to the soft and romantic detail of the draping.
Bailey O’Malley, Events to a T

The Atrium boasts a perfect juxtaposition of industrial and natural elements, from the main event space illuminated by a sprawling skylight to the ethereal garden on the rooftop. Influenced by space’s atmosphere, Bailey O’Malley, event planner and designer at Events to a T created an artistic-meets-organic wedding day design with draping acting as the main character. Sweeping white fabric cascades from the ceiling, flawlessly framing each focal point of the scheme.
Seasonal blooms of lilac, hellebores, sweet peas, butterfly ranunculus, and the delicate whispers of Queen Anne’s lace, paired with a lush array of greenery—bay leaf, pistachio, and jasmine vine—softly adorn the haven, filling it with an enchanting, natural beauty. “I like to have a mix of vessels from ceramic taper candle holders to mixed glass bud vases to textured votives while using the same floral throughout to keep it looking cohesive,” Maggie Simaytis, owner and designer at North Gate Floral says. “Any floral with interesting shapes or bends can make a statement without using a lot of floral in each piece.”
An elegant stationery suite complements the scene with olive and mossy green hues. Vintage postage adds a hint of refined sophistication. “The mix of modern and classic styles are always a fun dance when it comes to design, and in my opinion, a great way to keep things classic that will be gorgeous for years to come,” Shi Norman of Lettered by Shi says.
The cake pulls those old-school wedding vibes with fabric and dimension, but modernized with the other design elements of the shoot.
—Jessica Reinhardtsen, Greige Pâtisserie

A green bar adorned with lush blooms and candles make a bold statement against the white canvas, creating an ideal setting for celebratory dirty martinis. Staying true to theme, Jessica Reinhardtsen, owner and pastry chef at Greige Pâtisserie crafted an Earl Grey confection with orange curd filling and elderflower buttercream with a fabric-like appearance.
An intentional crisscross draping design serves as a backdrop to the ceremony setup, complemented by grand floral arrangements and branches that evoke a sense of untamed beauty. The interactive escort shelf wall, filled with seating assignments and martinis, provides a warm welcome to the reception.

The skylight casts a spotlight onto the banquetstyle table where flickering mauve tapers, sprigs of white botanicals and cloud-colored napkins blend harmoniously to compose a scene of earthy refinement. Brown chairs contribute a touch of woodsy charm, while sophisticated menus balance the natural elegance.

WELCOME DINNER
Saz’s Hospitality Group
The welcome dinner is the first taste guests experience when embarking on a weekend of wedding festivities. This event offers the couple an opportunity to showcase their home state and city to those traveling from afar, explore unique appetizers and allow unfamiliar guests to connect. For this reason, a familystyle meal is paramount. Inspired by the iconic flavors of Milwaukee, Saz’s Hospitality Group crafted an impeccable spread complemented by New Glarus Spotted Cow and Mudpuppy Porter from Central Waters Brewing. “We wanted to create a menu that embodies true Wisconsin hospitality — familiar enough to provide comfort but sophisticated enough to impress,” says Ana Cook, marketing director at Saz’s. “Each dish was thoughtfully selected to introduce visitors to our regional culinary identity while ensuring broad appeal, making it the perfect way to kick off your wedding weekend.”

THE WEDDING NIGHT
Tall Guy and a Grill
Tried and true, a plated reception dinner never goes out of style. Adding an extra layer of formality and elegance, this presentation style allows you to treat guests to a luxurious dining experience. “The chefs can perfect the presentation and time the delivery around other events during the dinner,” says Jenna Buenger, owner and lead planner at Mitch and Jenna Weddings. “Multiple courses are often served, creating a slower-paced meal that allows guests to enjoy speeches, dances, toasts and other entertainment.” Embracing the Midwestern spirit, Tall Guy and a Grill crafted a versatile menu where rustic charm meets sophistication. Fresh, local ingredients took center stage, including delicious cherries from Door County and Milwaukee-grown microgreens. “We’re proud that about 50% of all our menu ingredients come from Wisconsin farms and small-batch artisans who take great care in the food they create,” says Dan Nowak, CEO of Brazen Standard Hospitality and Tall Guy and a Grill. Spotlighting their rustic side, cherry wood chips add a smokey flavor to the duck breast, pairing with a quintessential Wisconsin cocktail.

BRUNCH
Noble Catering
A farewell brunch offers an elegant conclusion to a weekend of mouthwatering cuisine. On a grazing table adorned with gold-rimmed China and vintage accents, Noble Catering & Events created a brunch experience that reimagines classic breakfast dishes with bold flair. “The buffet is more than just a spread; it’s an experience,” explains Kaelyn Cervero, owner of Noble Catering. This style combines the comfort of casual dining with ample time for conversation after the main event. With a deep appreciation for Wisconsin’s rich culinary heritage, this elevated, ingredient-driven brunch experience is unforgettable — from the salty-sweet flavor of candied Wisconsin bacon and house-made bourbon caramel drizzled over Liège waffles to the refreshing sips of Noble’s signature Bloody Mary. “It’s an effortless blend of sophistication and warmth — the kind of brunch that lingers long after the last sip of a Bloody Mary,” Cervero concludes.

EXPERT TIP
Lighting is the most forgotten piece of the design puzzle but the most important in order to create a vibe & feel in a space. Imagine walking into a softly lit restaurant vs. a restaurant that has their house lights at full blast. The softly lit restaurant is going to set the tone of a romantic, elegant evening as soon as you walk in. We want the same feel on your wedding day! Uplights + Pin spots can make all the difference and is KEY to enhancing your ambiance.

REAL WEDDINGS
KRISTIN & ANDREW
Married & Celebrated: MANITOWOC COUNTY COURTHOUSE
Date: AUGUST 21, 2024
After asking her parents for their blessing, Andrew Koszuth Jr. flew to the south of France and asked Kristin “Kit” Hunzinger, owner of KIT Co., to marry him as they stood beneath the stars in Bonnieux. Inspired by timeless and classic New York courthouse elopements, the pair chose to elope at Manitowoc County Courthouse. Its grand neoclassical architecture perfectly encapsulated their vision and permitted the attendance of their beloved dogs, Dottie and Walter. Exactly one year after their engagement, Kit added the final touches to her gown — a stunning design that incorporated the wedding gowns of the three women who shaped her work: her mother, her grandmother and a beloved client. She then headed to the courthouse to wed Andrew, who donned a suit filled with sentimental details of their lives together. A bouquet of long-stemmed, white anemones assembled by the bride’s mother were bright in Kit’s hands and beautifully stood out against the green grass and gorgeous stonework of the courthouse. This intimate celebration, decorated to the brim with personality and incredible attention to detail, was a testament to the newlyweds’ expert advice for those designing their own weddings — stay true to what resonates with you! — Kaitlyn Meehan

REYNOLDS & JOHN
Married: RIVERBEND, KOHLER
Celebrated: WHISTLING STRAITS, SHEBOYGAN
Date: JUNE 8, 2024

Engulfed by the pristine grounds of Riverbend and Whistling Straits in Kohler, Reynolds Lowry and John Rittenhouse’s dream Wisconsin destination wedding came to life. The New York couple sought to create an elevated weekend where guests could experience the summer magic of the bride’s home state of Wisconsin. With help from Kirstie Easley of Elevate Events, the result was an elegant celebratory weekend of events that balanced an air of opulence with down-to-earth elements. Weekend festivities kicked off with a golf outing for friends and family followed by an intimate rehersal dinner and “Prairie Chic” welcome party overlooking the Blackwolf Run at Kohler and featuring Wisconsin’s best: cheese curds, brats and old-fashioneds. Loved ones from all over gathered for the black-tie wedding day where meadow-inspired floral arrangements and Chinoiserie vases decorated the ceremony. To enhance the natural ambience, the reception tent featured an array of airy details, from rattan elements and bowering greenery to calming hues of blue and white. A disco ball above the dance floor hinted at the party to come as newlyweds’ signature cocktails, “The New York State of Mind” martini and “The Union Jack” gimlet (an ode to the groom's childhood in London, England), were flowing. Staying true to their original goal of giving their loved ones an unforgettable experience, Reynolds and John chose to have a lively band keep the dance floor packed all night, before guests headed to a local dive bar for the after-party. — Sydney Stevens

DISHA & MIKE
Married & Celebrated: BLACK SWAN RIVERWALK, MILWAUKEE
Date JULY 27, 2024

On a late summer evening at Milwaukee’s Black Swan Riverwalk, Disha Bhagwat and Mike Bannon became husband and wife in a bright and colorful celebration of Indian and American cultures. The ceremony honored Disha’s Indian heritage, with the couple wearing pink and white traditional Indian outfits to begin the festivities. The charming, warm atmosphere and river view at the venue made for a breathtaking environment. Their nuptials started off with several Hindu traditions, including the honoring of Lord Ganesha, a deity from Hindu mythology who is worshipped at the beginning of new chapters of life, followed by the entrances of the groom and bride. The couple then exchanged their colorful garlands, symbolizing the bride’s agreement to marry the groom. Disha’s parents placed her right hand in Mike’s, a tradition that asked the groom to accept the bride as an equal partner in life. The excitement continued throughout the reception with even more shimmering colors and playful ambience. Newlyweds changed into western attire in the evening, and the first dance between Disha and her father was a fun Bollywood-style flash mob. The entire celebration made for a beautiful fusion of two joyous families and their deeply valued heritages. — Jasmine Shackleford

SARAH & RAQUEL
Married
& Celebrated: THE BEACONS OF MINOCQUA, MINOCQUA
Date: SEPTEMBER 7, 2024

Sarah Van Order and Raquel Ness met on Lake Minocqua at The Thirsty Whale, and after spending each summer falling deeper in love, the pair were engaged on a boat floating down the Chicago River. It was only fitting for Sarah and Raquel to celebrate their wedding on the very waters where they created their love story at The Beacons of Minocqua. Embracing the simplicity of lake life, the happy couple wanted their wedding day to elegantly share their “slice of heaven” with their loved ones. Not wanting to miss a moment of their big day together, Sarah and Raquel spent their morning together with their friends, only briefly stepping away to get dressed in their timeless and complementary gowns. Reconvening on a dock, the love birds shared their first look with their girls cheering them on from afar. Their ceremony was basked in sunlight and blessed by bald eagles flying overhead while Raquel and Sarah smiled through their vows under the great trees of their favorite place. The romantic day quickly turned into a rowdy evening of shotskis, fireball bottles and dancing on tabletops. In typical “lake life” tradition, the party didn’t end when the dance floor cleared, and guests were invited to join Sarah and Raquel the following day for “Sunday Funday.” Reflecting on their wedding day, the newlyweds’ favorite part was “seeing everyone we love in the same moment in the same location, having fun and celebrating our love,” reminding future couples, “you’ll only remember the fun moments, so be present.” — Ryley S. Hoff

OLIVIA & SEBASTIAN
Married
& Celebrated: GREEN BAY BOTANICAL GARDEN, GREEN BAY
Date: JUNE 8, 2024

Surrounded by family and a blissful scene of greenery, Olivia Hoeft and Sebastian von Zerneck tied the knot during a delightful celebration of culture and community. The couple met during their junior year at Stanford University and spent their first 10 years together in California. However, Olivia, as a citizen of the Oneida Nation, maintained a strong connection with her family in Wisconsin, and the couple knew Oneida was the most meaningful place for their wedding. The morning rain dissipated just in time for the ceremony, where the couple exchanged vows on a mossy flagstone platform ensconced by shrubs and trees at Green Bay Botanical Garden. Olivia’s mother served as the officiant, and each guest received a copy of The Bingo Queens of Wisconsin, a book written by Olivia’s father about her grandmother and the beginning of tribal gaming in Wisconsin. Strawberry vines were incorporated throughout the design, as strawberries are treasured by the Haudenosaunee people. Olivia wore traditional Oneida regalia during the ceremony, and before dinner, a group of Oneida dancers performed drumming and singing. The bride also wore a chic hat using vintage silks and lace handmade by the groom’s sister. A light rain showered during dinner, but it ended soon after and two brilliant rainbows emerged in the summer sky — a perfect metaphor for the couple, soaring high while remaining linked to their families and heritage on the ground. — Jasmine Shackleford

MEGAN & JOE
Married: STELLA MARIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, BAILEYS HARBOR
Celebrated: HORSESHOE BAY GOLF CLUB, EGG HARBOR
Date: AUGUST 3, 2024

A classic black-and-white wedding day never goes out of style. For Megan VanVonderen and Joe Martin, their swanky summer soirée at Horseshoe Bay Golf Club effortlessly captured the beauty of timeless elegance. After sentimental vows and “I do’s” at their church ceremony in Baileys Harbor, Megan and Joe boarded a retro trolley with their wedding party to celebrate. As a cinematic touch, the newlyweds snuck off in Joe’s father’s vintage Cadillac convertible and took photos at the groom’s family’s house to soak up their first few moments as husband and wife alone before the reception festivities began. A custom martini cocktail cabinet with blue cheese olives on pearl skewers served as a warm welcome to the party. Cloth signage added a hint of softness and matched the chic white tent. Adhering to the theme, the tent was decorated with an abundance of white blooms, including peonies, the bride’s favorite. But perhaps the biggest showstopper of all was Megan’s stylish custom after-party dress. Loved ones danced the night away to the live band on the black-and-white check patterned dance floor beneath the soft glow of bowering chandeliers before a fireworks show lit up the sky. — Sydney Stevens

EVAN & ANDREW
Married & Celebrated: NORTHERN HAUS, SISTER BAY
Date: OCTOBER 26, 2024

Autumn leaves, colorful trees and cherished friends and family made Evan Smith and Andrew Grazier’s wedding a day to remember. With a shared affinity for Door County adventures, the outdoors and autumnal colors, Northern Haus in Sister Bay was the perfect locale for the pair to tie the knot. The day began with beautiful, crisp weather and brilliant sunlight that filtered through the orange and red tree leaves at the al fresco ceremony. The couple exchanged vows beneath the trees’ canopy, surrounded by a circle of cobblestones and enchanting pink, white and burnt orange florals. A live pianist added to the ethereal atmosphere surrounding the wooded trail. The celebration moved indoors for the reception in Northern Haus’ barn-style venue, where a cocktail hour and meal unfolded under modern lighting and vast wooden beams. The environment was perfect for warm conversations and bubbling laughter. Soon, everyone moved onto the dance floor, where the live band made for a long night of cheery dancing and unforgettable moments. — Jasmine Shackleford

ABBY & CLARK
Married & Celebrated: STONE MANOR, LAKE GENEVA
Date: SEPTEMBER 21, 2024

Despite meeting in high school, Abby Willett and Clark Worobey’s epic love story did not begin until she took a trip home for the holidays in December 2020. A little over two years later, Clark popped the question in Lake Geneva on a pier that belongs to Abby’s parents—a longtime dream of hers come true. With her family’s special history and connection to Stone Manor in Lake Geneva, the bride-to-be knew she had to be married there. Wanting the natural beauty of the manor to speak for itself, Abby chose to keep the colors and décor subtle yet timeless, allowing the architecture and scenery of the venue to shine. Designed without a bit of greenery, the bride’s all-white bouquet of ruffled sweet pea, ranunculus, garden roses, white stock and baby’s breath was ethereal against her beautifully draped column gown of stretch crepe and cathedrallength veil. Like his bride, Clark stood out amongst the bridal party as he donned a dapper, dark green suit jacket, adding a wave of personality to the traditional black tux. Rain clouds held back in anticipation as the bride made her way towards her groom and parted briefly to bathe the newlyweds in sunlight while they recited their vows. By way of drink stirrers, headbands for dancing, signage and more, the couple incorporated disco balls throughout their reception design, paying homage to the hit song, “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire—the inspiration for their wedding date. When the rain finally fell, the newlyweds and guests were back inside dining and dancing the night away. — Kaitlyn Meehan

ABIGAIL & DANIEL
Married & Celebrated: THE ABBEY RESORT, LAKE GENEVA
Date: AUGUST 17, 2024

Amid the designing process, Abigail David and Daniel Corrigan wanted to make their big day an extension of them and their home— whimsical, colorful and filled to the brim with personal touches—and the coastal, garden-style celebration held at The Abbey Resort on Lake Geneva did just that. Curated for the theme “the more color, the better,” the autumnal floral arrangements of orange ranunculus, deep red celosia, amber orchids and delicate ivory perfectly contrasted the beautiful greenery and bright blue lake water. To honor the memory of their respective fathers, Abby held an image of her father in her bouquet as Dan did the same, keeping him near the heart on his boutonniere. The moment she began her descent down the aisle, her mother in hand, August skies brought forth a light sprinkle of rain upon the wedding party, just enough for Abby and Dan to recognize it as their fathers saying hello. The cocktail and reception spaces were also adorned with details that were as special and unique as the couple themselves. Guests were able to experience the full extent of the love the newlyweds had for their family and friends in the 100 picture frames that were spread throughout the dining area before finding their seats at tables named after places that were most important to Abby and Dan—such as The Penrose in New York City where they had their first date, their first home in San Francisco, and Rome, where Dan popped the question. — Kaitlyn Meehan

VILLA TERRACE DECORATIVE ARTS MUSEUM, MILWAUKEE
Date: AUGUST 3, 2024

Kendall Ruchti and Andrew Ward’s celebration was a picture-perfect wedding day for a couple united by their love for architecture, art and design. Kendall, an interior designer, was set on visiting Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum in Milwaukee from the moment she learned about it, so Andrew, who also has a passion for architecture, knew their trip to the museum was the ideal time to propose. Two years later, it only made sense to return to the venue for their wedding. The house’s rich history and Italian-Renaissance design flawlessly matched the couple’s shared interests. Kendall and Andrew watched from the second floor of the villa as their guests arrived, feeling immeasurable gratitude for every person who attended the celebration. The ceremony took place in an enchanting, shady garden beneath the terrace in the sweet summer heat, and the couple exchanged vows in the exact same spot in the grassy lawn where Andrew had proposed two years prior. The reception unfolded up on the house’s terrace, where Kendall collaborated with M&F Floral + Décor to create the feeling of a European market with fruit baskets and lush greenery, taking inspiration from “Pride and Prejudice.” Bundles of olive branches complemented the villa’s architecture to create an Italian seaside feeling. Once night fell, the string lights draped over the terrace created a harmonious ambience as guests danced with stunning views of a moonlit Lake Michigan. — Jasmine Shackleford

SARA & GUTHRIE
Married & Celebrated: THE TINSMITH, MADISON
Date: NOVEMBER 2, 2024

Ten years ago, when Guthrie Lindquist opened his UW-Whitewater dorm door to a stranger asking to play bingo, his first instinct was to stay in, but after spotting the stranger’s personal care assistant, Sara Loomis, he quickly changed his tune. From that night, Sara and Guthrie’s love story only grew, and 10 years later, on a bright and breezy November day, they were married at The Tinsmith in Madison. Timeless and undeniably elegant in a fitted low-back gown, Sara approached Guthrie for a private first look outside the capitol, her structured double-tiered veil blowing on a romantic wind. Guthrie, handsome and dignified in his tuxedo, was beaming when he turned to see the beautiful woman who was about to become his wife. Framed by floral installations featuring fresh greenery and white roses, the couple’s ceremony was officiated by Guthrie’s former basketball coach and Paralympian, Jeremy “Opie” Lade, who effortlessly combined the couple’s love of sports with their love for each other. Their reception space highlighted an unstructured and organic style of florals among the long tables, which were lit by candles and warm string lights hanging overhead. A plethora of personal touches graced their wedding day, including cocktail stir sticks of their cats Jax and Doja, handmade pies in honor of Sara’s late grandmother and surprise custom Brewers jerseys for Sara’s dad and herself, which led to the entire party singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.” Full of love, Guthrie and Sara did not want their wedding day to end, leading their guests to party into the wee hours of the morning in their hotel lobby. — Ryley S. MACKENZIE & LUKE
Married & Celebrated: VILLA BELLEZZA WINERY & VINEYARDS, PEPIN
Date: AUGUST 24, 2024

Given their deep love for traveling, it made perfect sense that Luke Rothenbach would propose to his college sweetheart, Mackenzie Smid, during a family trip to Cancun. What he might not have expected was getting down on one knee only an hour after arriving, jetlagged and completely excited at the idea of their lives together. This passion for adventure was a large inspiration for their wedding design, as they blurred the lines between the modernity of bright colors and intimate, vintage details. Bold and moody florals of blue, orange, red and more, loosely arranged to create an organic feel, complemented the Tuscan architecture and atmosphere of the Villa Bellezza Winery & Vineyards and provided a romantic scene as Mackenzie walked down the aisle towards Luke. The dramatic pops of color in her bouquet and flower crown were balanced by both the bride and groom’s clean, white looks. The reception was lively and characteristically true to the newlyweds, with personal touches spread throughout. Small textures and pieces had a big impact in transforming the space into that of a timeless, Italian-inspired scene. The phrase, “Love you more”—a favorite saying of Mackenzie’s grandmother—had woven itself into the couple’s own relationship and earned its place in frosting at the top of the carrot cake they chose from their favorite restaurant. Before spending the night on the dance floor, guests were invited to write their well-wishes to the happy couple on a white vinyl record. — Kaitlyn Meehan

SOPHIA & NICK
Married & Celebrated: THE GAGE, MILWAUKEE
Date: SEPTEMBER 13, 2024

In a meet-cute rivaling rom-coms everywhere, visual artists Sophia Tarantino and Nick Schilz first crossed paths when their artwork was displayed across from each other at an art gallery exhibition. Their love flourished as they worked on creative projects together, and as their shared love of music had become a hallmark of their relationship, Nick proposed to Sophia at their annual outing to the Electric Forest music festival under a canopy of trees. Intending for their wedding day to mirror their love story and mutual interests, Nick and Sophia’s nuptials were woven with artful and natureinspired details. Opting for a private first look, Sophia, in a timeless satin dress and Nick, in his tuxedo, took to the location of their first date, the Mitchell Park Domes, where they shared an intimate vow exchange hidden within lush tropical foliage. Friends and family gathered for a ceremony at The Gage, which had been transformed with exquisite use of verdant vegetation—moss, air plants, vibrant ferns and whimsical mushrooms—to create an enchanted forest feel in the modern venue. Sophia and Nick participated in the Celtic tradition of handfasting before guests moved to a vibrant cocktail hour of games, Aperol spritzes and tasty appetizers. The happy couple, in a nod to their shared artistry, invited their loved ones to paint on a blank canvas to create an everlasting memory of their special day that now hangs in their home. In the warm glow of flickering candlelight and the love of their community, Sophia and Nick rang in married life with memories they would treasure forever. — Ryley S. Hoff
