CELEBRATE WITH INTENTION

As we soak up another beautiful summer wedding season and look ahead to the crisp air and vibrant colors of fall, we’re proud to unveil our Fall-Winter 2025 issue, celebrating the Best of Washington Wedding Day , our annual tribute to the most exceptional wedding professionals across the Evergreen State.

This issue goes beyond a list of winners and finalists. It’s a genuine celebration of the artistry, dedication and passion that define Washington’s vibrant wedding community.

Every winner and finalist was chosen by real couples and industry peers, and we love that we are able to honor them—from awe-inspiring venues nestled in mountains and along coastlines, to planners who turn visions into seamless celebrations, to florists crafting living works of art, and photographers preserving once-in-a-lifetime moments. Their work elevates the wedding experience, reminding us why every “I do” deserves to be celebrated with intention and beauty.

To our readers preparing for your unforgettable day, we hope this issue offers more than recommendations...we hope it is an inspiration. And to the talented vendors who make Washington such an extraordinary place to begin a love story, we thank you for sharing your work with us.

This one’s for you! With gratitude and admiration,

Alexis Sanabria alexis@irondiamondmedia.com @alexis_irondiamond

RELEASE PARTY

For Spring/Summer 2025 Issue

The Washington wedding community gathered at Dockside at Duke’s for Washington Wedding Day ’s Tides & Toasts party to celebrate the release of the Spring/Summer ’25 issue. The inspiration behind the event was the sun and the sea with a color palette inspired by Seattle’s waterfront.

Chic linens, décor and rentals by Wander Design + Rentals and Zaffre Fine Linens effortlessly complemented florals by From the Ground Up Floral. The venue was set with moody lighting by Crimson Haze Event Lighting and music from Orion Entertainment. Guests indulged in food and drinks from Dockside at Duke’s and ended the night with desserts from The SweetSide.

ALL AMERICAN

Drawing inspiration from nostalgic Americana—including the timeless elegance of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and John F. Kennedy Jr.’s wedding, the classic sensibility of Ralph Lauren and the inviting warmth of a Nancy Meyers film—Alyssa Estrada of Elle and James Co. curated an editorial that evoked an upscale family estate gathering. Captured beautifully by Jacqueline Benét Photography, the setting was the historic Admiral’s House, overlooking Elliott Bay with sweeping vistas of the Seattle skyline.

The intimate ceremony and reception felt more like a cherished family dinner party than a formal affair. Focused on savoring the day slowly and intentionally, the couple began their morning together at the venue, enjoying quiet coffee time before separating to get ready—preserving a sense of calm while still building anticipation for the ceremony. The bride wore a structured pleated gown by Elie Saab and changed into a playful Ines Di Santo mini dress for the reception.

Teressa Johnson dreamed up stunning floral arrangements, including a ceremony arch set at the end of a winding aisle. Reception tables echoed the natural florals and layered textures with linens, woven textiles and warm metallics. Pleated lamps were placed throughout the scheme as a subtle nod to the bride’s gown, adding dimension and charm. Even the cake, crafted by Kenna Giuzio Cakes, was a custom creation inspired by the dress, mirroring its pleated aesthetic and graceful form—a sweet ending to a day full of elegance, intention and heart.

PERFECTLY SEASONED

Fall was in the air at Brittany and Dustin’s October wedding in Seattle. Brittany’s vision board included a breathtaking view and a venue that would leave a lasting impression—as well as a refined approach to seasonal style. The Hyatt Regency Lake Washington was the perfect location, with its waterfront setting providing the ideal backdrop. Initially, Brittany was leaning toward traditional autumn-hued oranges, but the bright colors didn’t match her vision. A sense of elegance and timelessness was achieved with her choice of a soft palette of blush, cream, peach and ivory. Creamcolored pumpkins sprinkled with copper glitter along with navy accents and seasonal blue thistle added a contemporary touch to the autumn elements. The result was everything Brittany imagined: sophisticated, harmonious and perfectly suited for their fall celebration. —Laura Cross

AMONG THE WILDFLOWERS

In an open meadow awash with golden wildflowers, a breathtaking elopement unfolded—capturing the magic and nostalgia of the Studio Ghibli film Howl’s Moving Castle . “Imagine The Sound of Music reimagined through the lens of Japanese animation,” says Marcella of Marcella R. Photography. “We wanted to create something playful, whimsical and deeply nostalgic.”

Florist.Cha designed a charming floral basket for the bride to carry, blending seamlessly with the natural surroundings for a look that was both intentional and effortlessly romantic. The florals extended to the tablescape, where they mingled with fresh fruit and flower-adorned tableware, creating a vintagemeets-Victorian garden party vibe, beautifully styled by Jami Marzano from Marzano Events.

Lil’ Cakery crafted a three-tier cake ornamented with hand-painted buttercream florals, a true showstopper. The bride wore her hair in loose curls for a relaxed, just-let-my-hair-down look, complementing her billowy, off-the-shoulder gown. Her groom looked timeless in a classic tuxedo and bow tie.

Capturing the magic, Art by Elina created a live painting of the couple frolicking through the meadow, commemorating the moment in brushstrokes. For a vibrant touch, Aafiya Lounge served bright red mocktails in vintage coupe glasses, garnished with edible blooms for a refreshing and playful twist. —Chelsea Gibson

LOVE SIGNS

Joe and Madelyn met by chance at Ballroom, a bar in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood. Neither had planned to be there—Joe was persuaded to go out by his friend (and future groomsman), while Madelyn was celebrating a friend’s birthday. The moment she saw Joe, she couldn’t look away—his warm smile and kind eyes immediately drew her in. After several failed attempts to catch his attention, Madelyn walked up and introduced herself. That bold move sparked nearly six years of shared adventures: music festivals, mountain backpacking trips, sailing the San Juans, building a life together, and raising their spirited blue heeler dog, Izzy.

The couple returned to Fremont to tie the knot, bringing their story full circle. To honor that connection, they commissioned retro-inspired welcome posters featuring Ballroom’s iconic neon sign and the metal stairwell of their wedding venue—complete with a playful illustration of Izzy dangling from the stair rails. These custom pieces now live in their home as lasting reminders of their beginning. Says Madelyn, “We wanted unique, artistic welcome posters that we could hang up in our home as a forever reminder of our big day, and they turned out even better than in our imagination.” —Lara Burnap

BUILDING BLOCKS

As a labor of love, Teresa Farley built yard games for each of her sons’ wedding days. What began as a heartfelt gesture quickly blossomed into something much bigger. Friends and families soon flooded Farley with requests for their own celebrations. After creating games for loved ones, Farley and her sons, Sam and Andy, officially took the leap to make their game-making passion a full-time business. And voila— OFF THE BLOCK (@offtheblockgames) was born in 2018! “We are a game-loving family,” Farley explains. “It seemed like the perfect fit.”

From fan favorites like cornhole, Connect 4 and Jenga to nostalgic classics like bocce ball and croquet, Off The Block has something for everyone. Taking attention to detail a step further, they offer all game accessories in 15 colorways, ensuring they complement every palette and aesthetic. “It makes any event just a little more special,” Farley adds. In addition to color options, there is also room for personalization. Couples can customize cornhole bags or decorate select games with removable vinyl. Always evolving and embracing new ideas, the Off The Block team is excited to test fresh game concepts and designs—and eager to meet the unique couples they will work with next. —Sydney

THE WORLD IS YOUR OYSTER

“I really leaned into the oyster theme and used it as inspiration to guide the centerpieces and color palette for the shoot,” says Rissa Ho of Sahomie & Co.

That vision flourished through thoughtful, layered details that brought a fresh, coastal elegance to the styled shoot. Artful oyster elements of the design included hand-cleaned shells repurposed into candles and place card holders, debossed invitation cards sealed with wax imprints of shells, a pearladorned veil, a textured cake reminiscent of ocean surfaces, and sculptural pillar candles for added dimension and drama.

Roche Harbor

The floral design was another standout component of the day. While the palette embraced classic coastal tones—soft blues and sandy neutrals—it also drew inspiration from abalone shells, which were creatively used as vessels for the centerpieces. The arrangements were loose, organic and full of movement—flowy, playful and textured—bringing a natural yet elevated feel to the entire setting.

“There were so many small details that made this shoot truly special,” says Ho. “From the incredible vendor team who brought my ideas to life, to the unexpected treat of live oyster shucking on-site, it was a beautiful reminder of how rewarding it can be to fully commit to a theme. With the right creative approach, you can capture its essence in a way that feels both intentional and refined.”

HAUTE TO GO

AN ODE TO FASHION INSPIRES A STYLISH ENGAGEMENT PARTY

Few events manage to feel both deeply personal and editorially flawless, but Reneille Velez and Brian Teodoro’s engagement celebration was exactly that. After eight years of designing breathtaking weddings and high-end events throughout the Pacific Northwest, the Seattle-based planner and owner of Gian Events finally had her turn in the spotlight. And in true Reneille fashion, her engagement party was nothing short of a masterclass in modern romance, intentional design and elevated glamour.

The couple’s engagement party took place 75 floors above Seattle at the iconic Columbia Tower Club, a venue known for its panoramic views of the city skyline. Guests followed a chic all-black dress code, perfectly complementing the evening’s polished, couture-inspired aesthetic.

The event embraced a striking black-and-white palette, complete with lush white florals, a candlelit pathway and crisp monochrome décor. Drawing inspiration from designers such as Chanel, Rolex, Louboutin and Gucci, the event radiated elevated glamour, resulting in an evening that was equally experiential and visually stunning.

The standout feature of the night was the extravagant dessert display, centered around a multi-tiered cake wrapped in a sheer organza bow to create an ethereal focal point. Surrounding the cake was a curated selection of artisanal confections, including delicate macarons, intricately decorated cupcakes and petit fours. Guests were also treated to freshly shucked oysters and indulgent caviar bumps, a bespoke culinary touch that added a luxe edge to the evening.

Music was curated with care, blending a nostalgic 2000s R&B playlist with live violin performances that added a soulful, romantic layer to the atmosphere. Every detail was considered, even the favors. Guests left with stylishy, personalized compact mirrors, each hot-foiled with live calligraphy.

No detail was left untouched, leaving guests anticipating Reneille and Brian’s lavish wedding day, one that is sure to be filled with stylish design, intentional details and most importantly, love.

This party marked a FULL-CIRCLE moment, allowing me to experience firsthand the MAGIC I create for others.

DARLING DEETS

Marlanna and Josh’s late-August destination wedding boasted a curated weekend itinerary—hikes, hangouts and a favorite-things guide for guests—and personal details that made for a welcoming, adventurefilled experience. A pre-event display featured DIY programs in the form of a faux newspaper, “The Newlywed Post,” and a guest book alternative requesting that guests write down “bucket list” items for Marlanna and Josh to complete. The couple also decided to set up a “Generations of Love” table—honoring married couples in the families—alongside their “In Memory” table.

The ceremony embraced intentionality, with personalized vows, a ring warming ritual and an unforgettable entrance: Marlanna emerging from across a pond for her walk to the altar. Unique touches continued with

a joyful flower man—her uncle Roger, sporting an adorable tutu— pastel floral embroidery on the end of the bride’s cathedral-length veil and a playful Photo Dash game set to one of their favorite songs where they snapped a photo at every single table.

Their love of the outdoors and street food shaped the menu. A taco truck served up their favorite meal with chips and guacamole, while s’mores and donuts were enjoyed in lieu of cake. Custom bar napkins featured their dog Theo, who also inspired a nonalcoholic signature drink. The florals were romantic and whimsical, with draping greenery and summer hues of peach and terracotta, including alstroemeria blooms, which Josh often gifts Marlanna. A private last dance capped off the night—a sweetly intimate moment before the grand bubble exit.

WRITTEN IN THE STARS

USE YOUR ZODIAC SIGN TO DISCOVER YOUR IDEAL WEDDING AESTHETIC

WATER SIGNS

CANCER – SCORPIO – PISCES

You, sweet water signs, are seeking a down-to-earth shebang that prioritizes effortless flow and movement from scene to scene. When it comes to your colors, you’re drawn to contrast (what better way to embody flow?)—gradients of pastels or moodier palettes that are ombré and create dimension. Same goes for your décor; we’re talking mismatched dinnerware and eclectic centerpieces, like veggies mixed with fresh flowers or sentimental knick-knacks acting as a table runner. For your wedding day attire, you’re (surprisingly) going for daring, contrasting the familiar atmosphere with a stunning ensemble. You’ll love the low-back trend or the high-slit look and opt for more simple styles accented with unexpected accessories like beads woven into your hairstyle creating a “wave” effect or a gorgeous cape. Focus on the comforting things and let the noise fall away—you’ll be left with a beautifully paced celebration.

EARTH SIGNS

TAURUS – VIRGO – CAPRICORN

For earth darlings, you’ll want to center your wedding day around comfort and structure. Sensual and traditional, earth signs will need a setting that appeals to the senses. A historic venue or an outdoor courtyard may suit your sensibilities. For wedding attire, you’ll feel your best donning structured boning, natural fabric and a tried-andtrue silhouette. When choosing a palette for your big day, you wouldn’t dare risk two bridesmaid gowns clashing! Subdue your perfectionism by choosing a monochromatic color scheme (don’t lie—you know your color of choice). Embodying your earthy essence, an abundance of blooms will be your décor focal point. Lush, meticulously crafted installations in your designated hue framing your “I do’s” will ground you while your head is in the clouds.

AIR SIGNS

You’re nothing if not a consummate planner, air sign babe. You’re all about organized uniqueness: a curated aesthetic that revolves around one or two big statement pieces. Your big day is going to be all about you, niches and all. You’ll create a memorable color palette, perhaps showcasing your love of duality with tones on the opposite side of the color wheel, like sweet lavenders with yellows or bold burnt orange with a deep cobalt blue. Special interests will make their appearances one way or another, whether it’s through your venue (a local haunt, your first-date spot or a location with deep meaning), hand-written notes at each guest’s place setting or even a super-themed seating chart (word search, anyone?)—you’re determined to wow your guests with personalization, and that’s exactly what you’ll do.

FIRE SIGNS

ARIES – LEO – SAGGITARIUS

It’s no surprise that for fire signs we recommend incorporating as much drama into your wedding day as possible. You may have already impulsively eloped, but for the celebration you’ll want a performance-oriented venue—a skyscraper with incredible views or a repurposed theater—to entice your guests. The color palette for your nuptials must be bold, featuring romantic florals and flashy metallics. For attire, you’ll be drawn to something authentically unique and daring—perhaps the drama of a corset or a showstopping mini dress. Most important is the entertainment for the evening. Employing live music will foster an engaging environment, the bigger the band, the better! Full of frivolities, from a custom tattoo artist to drag performers, your wedding day is meant to be an electrifying experience for your guests to revel in for years to come.

DREAM A SWEET, VINTAGE DREAM WITH THIS OLD-WORLD EDITORIAL HIGHLIGHTING ROMANTIC DETAILS

Immediately following the famous “golden hour”—the darling of photographers worldwide—comes an equally stunning time of day: twilight. Magic can happen as the sun dips below the horizon and a deeper color begins to pour over the landscape.

Twilight at the Trillium Nursery Farm in Redmond set a breathtaking scene for this Old-World design accented with contemporary details. “Drawing from the lush surroundings of the gardens and meticulously landscaped surroundings, this design combines vintage elements that whimsically sync with modern touches,” says planner and designer Marcea Galindo of MG Event Design.

The chosen blossoms—butterfly ranunculus, astrantia, spirea and jasmine vine— expertly complemented the dreamy dogwood tree adorned with ivory blooms and some additional climbing florals. Details were thoughtfully incorporated to create a sense of nostalgia—antique furniture draped in wild, lush flowers softened the tableau and built an atmosphere of romance.

The bride’s billowing gown added an air of graceful playfulness. Flowing effortlessly, the dress was a perfect pairing with the groom’s custom-made suit, which was classically elegant with subtle modern touches. Together, their looks embodied the whimsical references to the past that inspired the day’s design.

PALETTE PLAY

Fresh, unapologetically dynamic and boldly stylish, Tamara Anderson, owner of Simply by Tamara Nicole, masterfully utilized a spectrum of hues to create a bright, colorblocked design that’s a feast for the senses. “I was so excited to showcase all kinds of color but in a strategic and beautiful way,” Anderson says.

Set against the classic elegance of The Golf Club at Newcastle, the vibrant scheme made a striking statement within the neutral space, harmonizing with sweeping views of the pristine grounds and the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. The team

collaborated with Florals by Maria to decorate the venue with luxurious blooms in a joyful palette ranging from shades of purples and pinks to oranges and yellows. The rainbow of colors remained expertly polished and exuded opulence.

Casting an ombré pattern, the modern square ceremony arch featured playful blossoms gracefully climbing up each side. To demonstrate how reception tables can showcase varied styles while remaining cohesive, the creative team chose to highlight three unique tablescapes with varying personalities. “Each of the three tables had different linens, napkins, place settings, table numbers and more, showcasing that you don’t need all of your tables to be the same at a wedding,” Anderson explains.

A KALEIDOSCOPE OF COLOR SHAPES AN ENCHANTING SCENE AT THE GOLF CLUB AT NEWCASTLE

Leaning into the cheerful theme, the sleek bar was garnished with bundles of roses in vivid pigments and thriving greenery. Overhead, chandeliers offered a soft glow, casting a spotlight onto the enchanting scene of splendor. A grand four-tiered cake demanded attention, acting as a punchy focal point adorned with lavender, mauve and yellow flowers while zesty florals crawled up the stem of the tulip-style tableau. From ceremony to Champagne tower, this concept proves that a wedding can embrace maximalist flair while staying true to a clean minimalist-chic aesthetic.

A LA CHLOE (@alachloe)

“The design was inspired by the raw, untamed beauty of Olympic National Park. With mist-covered mountains, towering trees and serene stillness, the setting provides all the inspiration needed,” explains Chloe Kweon of A la Chloe. Soft, neutral-toned blooms and delicate wildflowers created a meadow-like ceremony space that felt wild yet intentional. Cascading textures framed the aisle without feeling staged, blending seamlessly into the landscape. The tabletop echoed this ethos— effortless and deeply organic. Minimal florals paired with moss emphasized texture and simplicity, while earthy elements and refined details added depth. Every element was curated to feel as though it belonged in the forest, resulting in a romantic, intimate setting that was both natural and artful. As if on cue, a deer wandered into the reception space, adding a magical and unexpected touch of nature.

Jordan and Kai’s wedding was a stunning fusion of whimsical charm and timeless elegance, set against the natural beauty of Whidbey Island at the historic Captain Whidbey. Imaginative floral arrangements welcomed the guests into a secret garden, complete with a growing garden altar, a vine-wrapped staircase and dramatic hanging installations. Meaningful details that reflected Jordan and Kai’s story and heritage added a deep, personal connection to the day. Every element honored their background, from custom-curated invitation postage symbolizing their roots in Hawaii and Washington, to the inclusion of bamboo chairs and Hawaiian beer. Their design blended Jordan’s maximalist flair with Kai’s minimalist style—lush florals and fruit-laden tables paired with clean, understated linens—while thoughtful touches like a vintage bar globe, framed signage and a toile motif tied it all together. Cultural nods included traditional Hawaiian leis and a custom seating chart painted with a Norwegian fjord honored Kai’s ancestry. Jordan’s fashion-forward looks—from Vivienne Westwood to Cult Gaia— paired perfectly with Kai’s custom Indochino suit. AND ZESTY HUES BRING ITALIAN COASTAL VIBES TO LAKE WASHINGTON

Inspired by the ITALIAN COAST and our favorite big family meals, we created a CELEBRATION to invite guests into communal joy and comfort.

“The sun, water, bright florals, gourmet pizza bites—and, oh, the cheeriest red tomatoes—are just a few details from this springtime soirée,” says Elsa Walker of Juliet + Lou, who designed this delightfully vibrant journey to Italy set on the shores of Lake Washington at The Woodmark Hotel & Still Spa in Kirkland. Elegant details abound, from the zesty tomato-inspired invitation suite to the intimate ceremony framed by golden yellow ottomans for guest seating.

The bright and juicy tablescape is a dreamland of details set among vibrant shades of reds, oranges and yellows. Walker sourced local seasonal florals in both the ceremony arch and the centerpieces, including Icelandic poppies, butterfly ranunculus, lilacs, double tulips, bleeding heart and berzelia. Amber-toned glassware and textured placemats complement the bursts of color from the florals that are framed by votives, cherry tomato vines and delicate lamps.

Alewa Bakeshop’s three-tiered cake in butter yellow echoes design details such as the yellow-striped napkins, tomato vine stationery and whimsical poppies.

Set against the WATERFRONT backdrop, the tablescape included a variety of textures, warm tones and JOYFUL details.

– Elsa Walker, Juliet + Lou

The garden is in full bloom at the seating chart display, where locally grown potted tomato plants and seed packet escort cards double as favors. Hand-stiched signs by Kerry Jeanne in Italian add flair to the escort display and on the bar. As a late-night snack, Woodmark’s catering team fired up mini personal pizzas served in personalized pizza boxes designed by Perfect Press.

REAL WEDDINGS

ALEINA & JOSH

Married & Celebrated:

THORNEWOOD CASTLE, TACOMA

Date:

SEPTEMBER 28, 2024

Aleina and Josh’s wedding was a beautiful blend of Old-World charm and thoughtful details, perfectly suited to the historic Thornewood Castle. The couple, who met through work and bonded over their shared wanderlust, prioritized capturing every moment—especially meaningful for Josh, who lives with aphantasia and cannot visualize memories. As such, hiring the perfect photographer, Gina Paulson, was a key decision. Jewel tones set a rich, romantic tone, complemented by lush florals in shades of pink and red, including a breathtaking garden rose installation at the head table. Their love of travel was woven throughout the day in subtle touches, such as the groom’s globe-shaped cufflinks. The reception embodied a fine-dining atmosphere and was curated by Aleina, who handpicked every element, from the velvet linens to the textured menus. With the help of a dedicated vendor team, their day unfolded flawlessly and was filled with emotions, love and memorable moments. —Lara Burnap

JOE & MORGAN

Married & Celebrated: CHIHULY GARDEN AND GLASS, SEATTLE

Date: JUNE 22, 2024

Joe Dombrowski and Morgan Nagy met on Tinder in Metro Detroit while pursuing graduate degrees, bonding over a shared love of music, art and social connection—all of which infused every moment of their Seattle wedding weekend. Festivities began with a sunset cocktail cruise on Lake Washington, offering panoramic views and a relaxed vibe. The couple said their vows at the iconic Chihuly Garden and Glass among a verdant garden of flowers. Creamy whites, sunny yellows and earthy rust tones filled the floral palette, with freestanding arrangements framing one of Chihuly’s signature glass sculptures for a ceremony backdrop that was both dramatic and organic. Joe wore Shinola accessories to honor his Detroit roots while Morgan incorporated family heirlooms. Cocktail hour invited guests to explore the gardens while a string quartet played pop anthems from the late ‘90s and early 2000s (think Britney, Cher and Destiny’s Child), blending nostalgia with a joyful nod to Pride. The reception continued the celebration with towering centerpieces featuring North Carolina dogwood blooms to honor Morgan’s Southern heritage, alongside orchids, dahlias and sculptural pods for dynamic texture. From low, airy tablescapes to grand floral moments, every design detail echoed the venue’s beauty and the couple’s story. At the after-party in Queen Anne’s Rich Rich, guests were handed nun habits as the grooms led a surprise performance of Sister Act’s “Hail Holy Queen”—a playful tribute to Morgan’s favorite film. The weekend concluded with a traditional Polish Poprawiny brunch, honoring Joe’s roots and closing out a celebration filled with love, style and unforgettable moments. —Laura Cross

GRACE & JOHNNY

Married & Celebrated: BRIARWOOD ESTATE, MOUNT VERNON

Date: SEPTEMBER 7, 2024

Grace and Johnny Egelstad’s wedding at Briarwood Estate was a heartfelt celebration that instantly transported guests into a carefully curated world. Having met as teenagers through social media, they have been inseparable ever since—bonding over music, old records and their miniature dachshund, Delilah. When they got engaged on a sunset-kissed beach in Ocean Shores, they knew their wedding had to feel like them: intentional and brimming with personal flair. Drawn to Briarwood’s enchanting garden setting, they leaned into its dreamlike quality, creating two distinct atmospheres throughout the evening. The first half—ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner—took place in the open air of the Imperial Lawn and Rose Garden. Here, a blend of soft pastels, vintage accents and French-inspired details brought their vision of “château chic” to life. As the sun set, guests transitioned to the Wisteria Den, where the aesthetic flipped to modern retro glam. Live music by Side One set the tone in a space filled with pink and green lounge furniture, while the black-and-white checkered dance floor dazzled with disco balls overhead. Playful extras, including an ice cream cart and a second bar serving the couple’s favorite drinks, added to the fun atmosphere. From honoring Grace’s late father and crafting handwritten notes for each guest to the sentimental favor of her grandmother’s handmade truffles, every detail was a personal reflection and a nod to the life Grace and Johnny are creating together. —Laura Cross

TEENA & SIMON

Married & Celebrated: MARRIOTT TACOMA DOWNTOWN , TACOMA

Date: JUNE 22, 2024

Eight years of adventures and unforgettable experiences built up to Teena Thach and Simon Legaspi’s eclectic wedding day. Simon first encountered Teena when he heard her singing at a Filipino-American Student Association event at Seattle University, but they didn’t actually speak until a year later, when Simon discovered Teena on Instagram and they began exchanging likes and comments on each other’s posts. These led to DMs, video calls and eventually their first date at The Cheesecake Factory. Within a month, the couple discovered a mutual passion for adventures and soon knew they were meant to be together. Simon hatched an elaborate plan to propose to Teena while traveling to Bali to celebrate her birthday. He schemed with friends, flight attendants and the pilot on their airplane to allow Simon to propose over the intercom. When the time came to plan their wedding, the couple embraced classic, black-and-white aesthetics. Tall, bright glass windows and round bouquets of pure white flowers created an elegant atmosphere. The couple took care to personalize their day with fun details, including boba tea. The celebration unfolded on the sunny outdoor terrace while the reception dinner took place in a candlelit ballroom. The night concluded with dancing and joyous music as the couple entered a bright new chapter of their lives. —Jasmine Shackleford

EMMA & BAILEY

Married & Celebrated: HOPE ISLAND BEACH CLUB, LA CONNER

Date: SEPTEMBER 21, 2024

Emma Changose, a wedding photographer, and Bailey Wargo, a brewer, met just before the COVID-19 shutdown. After only three dates, they chose to quarantine together, an unexpected beginning that quickly deepened their bond. Built on creativity, laughter and love for their fluffy companion, their relationship became the foundation for a vibrant, joy-filled celebration. Set against the scenic waterfront of Hope Island Beach Club, their ceremony was a deeply personal highlight. Co-written with a close friend and officiated by two others, it beautifully reflected Emma and Bailey’s values and journey together. Ground-level florals in soft gradient tones framed the couple, while hops were woven into the arrangements as a nod to Bailey’s brewing craft. Under a clear tent and starry sky, guests gathered at a serpentine table that wrapped around the dance floor, encouraging easy flow and interaction. Personal details added warmth and charm, including incorporating Emma’s nana’s kitchen wallpaper into the invitation suite design and custom dinner napkins. Their beloved pup even appeared as oversized cutouts on the dance floor and in the photo booth. From a T-shirt toss grand entrance to a late-night pretzel cart, every detail felt unmistakably theirs. —Laura Cross

BRENDA & BENJAMIN

Tea Ceremony: STAN HEAD CULTURAL CENTER, RENTON

Married & Celebrated: ALDERBROOK RESORT & SPA, UNION

Date: AUGUST 10, 2024

Brenda Luu and Benjamin Chao’s wedding weekend beautifully reflected their affection of culture and community. Guests were welcomed with a thoughtfully designed program featuring a photo of the couple in traditional garments taken in Taiwan earlier that year. The booklet included an “About” section, an event schedule and a clever bingo game to encourage mingling, asking guests to find “Ben’s childhood friend” and “Brenda’s cousin from Denmark,” for example. Festivities began with a vibrant tea ceremony at Stan Head Cultural Center honoring Brenda’s VietnameseChinese and Benjamin’s Taiwanese-Chinese heritages. The celebration was warm and energetic, featuring lion dancing, a Vietnamese buffet and interactive games. The outdoor ceremony at Alderbrook Resort’s Waterfront Lawn showcased the couple’s love for nature and elegance. They exchanged vows surrounded by lush greenery and ivory florals while a live jazz band played, paying homage to Benjamin’s musical background. The rich color palette of mocha mousse, toffee and mustard was reflected in the bouquets and bridesmaid dresses. This same palette continued into the reception with floral centerpieces complemented by creamy linens and candlelight. A surprise twist—a few Smirnoff Ice bottles taped underneath the chairs—had guests laughing and celebrating. —Laura Cross

MEGHAN & JESS

Married & Celebrated: NOVELTY HILL–JANUIK WINERY, WOODINVILLE

Date: SEPTEMBER 29, 2024

When writers and lovers of the written word, Jess Alberg and Meghan Mock, first met at a New York house party, their connection was instant. But it wasn’t until a tarot card reading at Jess’ house that they realized they were meant to be. While planning their wedding at Novelty Hill–Januik Winery, the pair chose to break traditions at every turn, and, in doing so, splashes of personality were embedded in every aspect of their day. By foregoing a color scheme, the eclectic invitations were fun and fresh with a wide range of fonts, colors and themes. The phrase “Things to do” was included everywhere in the design—particularly the invitations and signage—a reference to the title of the first love poem Jess ever wrote for her bride. Inspiration for the floral arrangements of local stems and fresh produce, including tomatoes and grapes, was drawn from the couple’s sense of fun and desire to have the space overflowing with color and joy. Avid travelers, the couple encouraged their guests to fold and throw paper airplanes during their first kiss, an adventurous detail complemented by postcard save-the-dates and a collection of postcards that served as a creative alternative to a guest book. In addition to a chic library-esque seating chart, a bright orange and maroon drink display featured venue staples and “Meghan Mock-tails,” non-alcoholic drinks with a clever twist on the bride’s last name. Reflecting on their unique, family-driven day, the brides described their celebration as “one big confetti pile of lots of inside jokes, random wants and a whole lotta love.” —Kaitlyn Meehan

EMILY & CHASE

Married & Celebrated: CAPTAIN WHIDBEY, COUPEVILLE

Date: SEPTEMBER 7, 2024

Brought together from opposite ends of the country, Emily and Chase got to know each other while studying law in Chicago and began dating during their last year of school. Desiring an “elevated summer camp” vibe, the couple planned their woodsy wedding weekend amid the gorgeous backdrop of Captain Whidbey on Whidbey Island—one of their favorite places. The classic ceremony design emphasized the venue’s natural beauty through locally grown green-and-white floral arrangements and mismatched bridesmaid dresses. After exchanging their vows at the end of an aisle framed by towering trees, the newlyweds drove off in a navy blue 1963 Porsche 356 that Chase and his father had been restoring since Chase was in high school. The brightly colored outfits worn by his sisters during the ceremony foreshadowed the explosion of color that set apart the reception space. While the head table was wild with organic displays of greenery, each guest table was given its own color-blocked tablescape in soft yellow, pink, blue and lilac themes. From napkins to florals, menus to the dramatic water goblets, every piece of the table designs expertly brought Emily’s vision of monochromatic summer shades to life. Before heading to the checkered dance floor, the couple kickstarted their party with a bubbling Champagne tower and an assortment of pies from the island’s local bakery. —Kaitlyn Meehan

EMILIE & ELI

Married & Celebrated: PARTIES ON THE TERRACE, REDMOND

Date: AUGUST 22, 2024

Emilie Schwartz and Eli Hofherr tied the knot in a lush outdoor celebration at Parties on the Terrace. Every tiny detail of the celebration was carefully thought out, even matching the menus and stationery to the textures and colors of the linens. The verdant, leafy green floral arrangements created bursts of color amid the elegant venue. The floral arch, which served as a charming backdrop to Emilie and Eli’s vows, was constructed at the last minute when rain forced the ceremony to the covered terrace. A highlight of the celebration was the pre-ceremony photo shoot with the couple’s beloved dog. Emilie had an outfit change in the middle of the day, switching into her mother’s wedding dress, which had been adjusted and modernized to fit her daughter. Other romantic and touching moments included the “breaking of the glass” tradition—even though the couple is not religious, they wanted to incorporate a Jewish tradition to honor Eli’s father’s family. The celebrations concluded with a sparkler send-off, and the bride opted to have her bouquet professionally preserved, immortalizing the happy memories of the special day. —Jasmine Shackleford

BROOKLYN & NOAH

Married & Celebrated: FERN ACRES, FORKS

Date: SEPTEMBER 12, 2024

Brooklyn Arington and Noah Ruzanka’s wedding was a one-of-a-kind experience on the edge of Olympic National Park. The day started out as Brooklyn got ready for the ceremony with her mother, a meaningful period of time enhanced by family heirlooms, including embroidered handkerchiefs. The intimate ceremony unfolded with picturesque cobblestones below and towering conifer trees above. The inherent beauty of Fern Acres made the outdoor ceremony exactly as whimsical and charming as the couple envisioned. In one especially heartfelt moment, the couple’s parents and siblings participated in a flower ceremony, each bringing a flower forward to build a beautiful bouquet. Another unforgettable moment was the surprise appearance of a Siamese cat at the ceremony, a touching sign of good luck. The fairytale atmosphere continued at the reception, where sunshine and string lights created the feeling of dining in a meadow. After the festivities concluded, Brooklyn and Noah slipped away with their photographer to capture memories of the special day while exploring Olympic National Park. —Jasmine Shackleford

SIRI & BRITTNEY

Married & Celebrated: WIND MOUNTAIN RANCH, STEVENSEN

Date: AUGUST 17, 2024

From music venues to mountain peaks, Siri and Brittney have been bonded by connections to special places throughout their love story. One such place was Fine Line, a concert venue in downtown Minneapolis where their hearts linked for the first time. To honor this treasured memory, Siri planned her surprise proposal to Brittney at Fine Line. The couple chose Wind Mountain Ranch, with its mountainous backdrop, as the venue for their destination wedding’s earthy, natural design. The floral arrangements featured a variety of soft, organic colors: corals, pale pinks, whites and light browns. Because the venue experiences strong winds on occasion, the flowers were carefully designed to move beautifully and maintain form on a windy day—and, sure enough, when the wedding day arrived, it featured 90-degree temperatures that led into dark clouds and strong winds immediately after the ceremony. However, Siri and Brittney were not deterred by the chaotic weather. Instead, they embraced it and bonded with their guests over unpredictable circumstances, creating memories they will cherish forever. —Jasmine Shackleford

LEXI & GREG

Married & Celebrated: SEATTLE ASIAN ART MUSEUM, SEATTLE

Date: OCTOBER 5, 2024

Introduced by mutual friends, Lexi Hamill and Greg Socha fell in love over their enjoyment of great food and conversation. When Lexi decided to start her floral business, Kinetic Botany, she knew that Greg would be there to stand by her side through it all. Embracing their deep love of art, the couple chose to host an intimate gathering at the Seattle Asian Art Museum and wed in front of the architectural glass exterior. Though they sought to avoid a harvest aesthetic, they were greatly inspired by the splendor of a Pacific Northwest fall and its vibrant, wild color scheme. Crafted by the bride herself, the floral designs were bright with an assortment of marigolds, lisianthus, gomphrena, scabiosa and dried hops—a staple of the Pacific Northwest. Inside, an explosion of color graced the tablescapes from the lilac taper candles and citrusy-orange table numbers to the chic maroon menus and escort cards. When they weren’t dancing or dining, guests were invited to enjoy a peaceful tour of the museum or kickback on the cozy seating vignette surrounded by repurposed ceremony florals. As the night progressed, the newlyweds wore a smile as they cut their two-tiered, soft-orange and white pumpkin cake adorned with cream cheese frosted florals, a beautiful creation by one of their local favorites, Lady Grey Cake Design. Reflecting on her nontraditional design, Hamill advises brides not to be afraid of color because: “Flowers should be fun, so have fun with them.” —Kaitlyn Meehan

Married & Celebrated: TUMBLE CREEK, CLE ELUM

Date: SEPTEMBER 21, 2024

Only three dates into a relationship built on a mutual love of food, fitness and golf, Anne Moore and Allen Xu both knew that they had met the person they were going to share the rest of their lives with. A bit more than a year later, they decided that their family’s golf club, Tumble Creek, was the perfect backdrop for their charming wedding weekend. Inspired by the transition from summer to fall, the design’s floral arrangements and bouquets were made up of a wide assortment of garden roses, dahlias, lisianthus and many more stems, all of which featured a bright color palette of orange, blush and pops of white to contrast the dark emerald greenery. Anne was angelic in her fit-and-flare gown with delicate lace cap sleeves—which she replaced with romantic, off-the-shoulder tulle sleeves for their bridal party portraits. During cocktail hour, guests enjoyed hitting balls on the putting green, signature drinks and custom portraits by a sketch artist. Inside the reception tent reminiscent of a glass greenhouse, bright florals were complemented by tablescapes adorned with soft pink goblets, moody purple dinner menus and napkins embroidered with the couple’s monogram. Guests were invited to find their seats at a grand display of golf balls and mini flags, each boasting a guest’s seating assignment. As the newlyweds settled in for a night of hilarious toasts, delicious food and dancing on a checkerboard floor, they shared a bite of the perfectly simple two-tiered cake, beautifully adorned with a touch of florals. —Kaitlyn Meehan

The moment Christina and Kim explored Genesis Farm and Gardens, they knew it was the perfect place to host their big day. The venue’s lush greenery and quaint structures provided the perfect canvas for a wedding that was both refined and intimate, beautifully designed in only five months. As the founder of Content by Christina, the bride knew the importance of capturing behind-the-scenes moments, and having her associate document everything on an iPhone allowed the bridal party to fully immerse themselves in the celebration. Descending an aisle of white rose petals, Christina was radiant in her mermaid-style Enzoani gown with a cathedral-length veil and timeless bouquet of creamy white spray and garden roses, sweet peas and soft greenery. The pale-yellow color chosen for the bridesmaid dresses complemented the sunlight that illuminated the wedding. The newlyweds honored their Vietnamese and Chinese cultures throughout the reception. The day began at their home, where excitement and laughter filled the air as they got ready with their furry companions. After a sweet stroll through Gas Works Park, they made their way to the MV Skansonia for a waterfront ceremony that was equal parts emotional and exuberant. Set against the shimmer of Lake Union, the couple exchanged personal vows beneath a showstopping floral mandap arbor bursting with vibrant summer blooms, a nod to Angad’s Indian heritage. Their best friend officiated, blending humor and sentiment in a ceremony that had every guest beaming. At the reception, guests were welcomed with custom signage, playful sticker favors and a menu that fused Pacific Northwest flavors with traditional Indian cuisine—bringing Chutneys Bistro onboard for a delicious twist. As the sun set, the floral arch was softly lit, creating a romantic glow while guests danced under the stars. The grooms’ nieces and nephews took full advantage of the photo booth, and the dance floor stayed packed all night long, especially when Indian wedding songs turned up the energy.
