Step into a fairytale filled with luscious botanicals and fragrant florals.
Crafted by Candace Kalasky and Lindsay Martian of Lovestruck Events, Alexandra McCashland and Kyle Ensign’s wedding day was brimming with enchantment, from “I do” to the last dance. The bride’s vision of “timeless elegance meets modern whimsy” was brought to life at Omaha Marriott Downtown at the Capitol District where a palette of neutrals was fused with unexpected textures and patterns to create a serene oasis amid downtown. Drapery framed the ceremony entrance, setting a theatrical tone as extravagant arrangements of thriving greenery and white blooms greeted guests when they stepped into the lush haven. A showstopping ceremony installation brought the outside in, featuring an intricate design of untamed beauty.
The reception was a dream come true, graced with tranquil blues and natural greens. Gentle candlelight cast a soft glow onto patterned linen tables garnished with an impressive spread of florals. Intentional details abound—from the robin’s egg blue plates adorned with leafy scenes at each place setting, to the bar wrap featuring an organic design that effortlessly enhanced the earthy atmosphere, complementing every element of the overall aesthetic. — Sydney Stevens

Roses are the classic symbol of love and romance, so it was fitting that they were a key element in the ceremony design for Claire Moore and Brennan Cascio’s timeless wedding day at Lauritzen Gardens. Creating an ethereal ambience amid the dreamy venue, Sarah Pflug of Bouquet and Gabi Hughes of Unfolding Events made the couple’s vision a reality. After learning about the passing of the groom’s mother, Gabi Hughes of Unfolding Events partnered with Wallflower Omaha and Nicole Reher Creative to honor her favorite art form with a one-of-a-kind escort card display for her son and future daughter-in-law’s wedding day. The couple created many of the art pieces themselves, with Hughes contributing a few as well. Together, they surprised the groom’s father with this heartfelt tribute on the big day.

Rich reds, bold blooms and moody details created a romantic wedding design at The Acreage. Set in between Lincoln and Omaha, the grand venue opened its doors in 2024, boasting serene views and extraordinary architecture with a timeless feel. “Visually, it gave us a solid foundation to layer in our design story, allowing our theme to complement the space,” explains Amy Jacobberger, co-founder of The Gemini alongside Cydney Rule Weigand. And that it did—their unique “candlelit Bordeaux harvest” theme unfolded with a sea of flickering candles mixed with bountiful arrangements from Siren Florals and Farma Flowers.
Setting the scene, the ceremony space exuded vintage flair and oldworld charm, adorned with silver candelabras and bronze candlesticks. Framed by ethereal layered drapery, the bride and groom stood as a picture of classic elegance in a dapper suit from Well Suited @ Lindley Clothing and a dramatic Basque waist gown from Olive & Grace Bridal. A sophisticated invitation suite by Nicole Reher Creative added to the mystique staged with jewelry from 14 Karat.
Flourishing burgundy florals decorated the standout bar setup. A flood of natural light from the wall of windows balanced out the dark theme, acting as a spotlight on the glorious arrangements garnished with fruit, wax-dripped wine bottles and a swath of drapery integrating unexpected texture into the design.
The floral design and use of fruits added richness in both color and texture, helping to bring our ‘candlelit Bordeaux harvest’ theme to life, evoking a romantic, wine-filled night full of depth, texture and intentional details.

With The Gemini’s bold vision in mind, Love More Sweets crafted an exquisite four-tiered cake. Like a still life painting from a bygone era, an abundance of fruit surrounded and bedecked the creation while edible red flowers embellished the work of art for a modern twist. A fanciful reimagination of the classic Champagne tower, silver coupes held an array of bright berries from Attitude on Food. “It was a fun, on-theme detail that doubled as décor and a playful dessert topping,” Rule Weigand says.
A gorgeous focal point, the grand staircase embraced the theme with lavish drapery and candlelight, casting an alluring glow over the reception. Adhering to the scheme, the groom donned a striking burgundy second look from Skeffinton’s Formal Wear. The bride opted for a fitted number with vintage-inspired lace sleeves from Olive & Grace Bridal paired with a dazzling diamond engagement ring, two mesmerizing bands with ruby stones and a custom-made ruby necklace outlined with diamonds from 14 Karat—perfect for the regal celebration.
Flickering candles lit up an otherworldly tablescape for an opulent evening of dining. “We swapped the traditional floral centerpiece for a dramatic arrangement of wax-dripped wine bottles and towering taper candles, creating an unapologetically theatrical moment that still felt warm and intimate,” Jacobberger describes. Name cards and menus echoed the sophistication from the invitation suite as big red bows graced every place setting for a touch of femininity. As the night continued, cherished family wedding photos were cast onto a cascade of drapery, infusing the design with a sense of storytelling. “We’re always looking for ways to incorporate meaningful, story-driven details, and the family photo projection is a trend we’re really into,” says Rule Weigand.

While Mollie Kaps and Gary Denson’s relationship officially began with a blind date, the real love story went back one week earlier when Mollie’s friend shared her story with Gary’s sister. Upon receiving a surprise text from a man she had never met before—whom she would soon fall madly in love with—Mollie felt at peace with the idea of joining him on a date. For their wedding, with every bit of the design planned to perfection, the bride transformed her childhood home into a dreamy, country-chic venue, perfectly fit for their timeless celebration. She was absolutely radiant in her off-the-shoulder, A-line gown as she descended the grassy aisle to her beloved with a bright bouquet of white, pink and orange florals in her hands. Tiny details throughout the décor introduced a wave of personality to the already intimate space, such as the use of delicate bows, watercolor-style images throughout the stationery and their initials, carved into a tree by the ceremony. From the mechanical bull to the miniature golf course, guests found no shortage of activities to take part in when they weren’t on the dance floor. As the day of celebration transformed into a lively night, Mollie heightened the already electric atmosphere by changing into her mother's reconstructed wedding dress to dance the night away. — Kaitlyn Meehan

Despite growing up an ocean apart, Sabrina Steele and Trey Tenopir’s worlds collided in the restaurant where she worked. After catching a glimpse of him from across the bar, Sabrina convinced her co-worker to switch sections with her, allowing her to be closer to Trey—and the rest was history! Having transitioned into the world of marketing and social media, Sabrina and her mother set out to design a “Colorado winter” inspired wedding set at The Barn at the Ackerhurst Dairy Farm. The pair began their big day by sharing letters written by Sabrina with their parents in private, tearful moments before joining together for their first look. As a long-time fan of "Say Yes to the Dress," Sabrina experienced her own Kleinfeld moment by wearing a jaw-dropping, strapless ballgown, adorned with white appliqué flowers at the base of the skirt and a matching veil. Trey donned a classic black tux and glossy eyes as he awaited his bride at the end of the candlelit aisle, a dramatic backdrop of pre-lit Christmas trees behind him. Forest elegance was incorporated into every stunning detail of the reception space, from the cranberry-colored ribbons on each napkin that matched the bridesmaid dresses to the evergreen runner and mixed taper and pillar candles that ran the length of the wooden head table to the 3D rocky mountain art piece displayed on the front of the DJ booth that mirrored the woodsy design of the two-tiered cake. After presenting a bouquet to her mother to honor all her hard work and help during the planning process, Sabrina and Trey took to the dance floor alongside their “party hard” crew, dancing and laughing the night away. — Kaitlyn Meehan

In a fête seamlessly blending airy European aesthetics with a boundless modern romance, Dominic Jimerson and Tyler Stansberry were wed at the Lauritzen Gardens on a glowing September afternoon. The happy couple, not wanting to spend a moment apart on their special day, assisted each other in dressing in their custom tuxedos, complete with light blue boutonnières and their initials embroidered on their shirt cuffs. Embracing the natural foliage of the gardens, the outdoor ceremony was peppered with ivory and sky-blue florals placed in large vases. After exchanging “I do’s,” Dominic and Tyler’s loved ones floated to the floral display hall for cocktail hour featuring the newlyweds’ favorite libations—Tyler’s “Something Blue” vodka lemonade and Dominic’s “Rum Away with Me” mule concoction. A verdant shade of green was woven throughout the modern design scheme, and, to show how the pair has been smitten from the very first date, they fully immersed their guests in their love story with personal touches including a custom magazine cover photo booth built by Tyler’s family. Ever stylish, Dominic and Tyler changed into white suit coats for the reception, though they were removed shortly after the space filled with the lively dancing of their loved ones. Kate Baxter and Christian Hanson’s wedding day was like a love sonnet: so poetic it almost felt imaginary and yet the perfect culmination of their love story. The couple first met in AP European History class as high school sophomores but remained merely acquaintances for years. Seven years after graduating, Christian happened upon Kate’s twin in Chicago and learned that Kate now lived in New York City, very close to where he had just accepted a new job. Christian promised he would reach out to Kate after moving, and, once he did, their romance finally blossomed. While planning their wedding, the couple knew they wanted to prioritize family and their shared values. The couple got ready for the special day in Kate’s childhood home, and the ceremony took place in the exact same church where Kate’s parents got married. After saying their heartfelt vows, the celebration moved to Omaha Country Club for the reception where lush greenery and bright flowers transformed the historic clubhouse into an indoor garden. Colorful wildflowers created a vivid touch beneath the vaulted ceiling while wide windows and chandeliers were decked in vines. Caroline Kuefler and Joey Braun’s story began in Australia while studying abroad, and their love for each other only grew upon returning home. Having it as such a big landmark in their relationship, the couple decided that St. John’s at Creighton University—their alma mater—was the perfect place to bring their families together as one. Caroline stunned in a strapless, floral fil-coupé A-line gown with an angelic cathedral-length veil while her bouquet of soft pink and yellow stems, accompanied by ribbons from her mother’s wedding bouquet, shone beneath the bright August sun. After saying “I do,” newlyweds exited the breathtaking church to a gathering with their friends and family before making their way to Northern Lights by trolley. Trendy and personal details filled the celebration space, making the event truly one-of-a-kind. Large paper flowers that accompanied the welcome signage made a statement, fruits branded with their initials were served in cocktails throughout the night and the vintage cake topper used in Caroline’s grandparents’ wedding sat atop the three-tiered cake adorned with white cosmos. As Caroline and Joey sat at a long wooden table behind an exquisite floral display, their guests enjoyed tablescapes that varied from the delicate look of single stemmed blooms in stylish bud vases to grand arrangements of greenery. Five years after Tyler Kuster asked Brie Friis-Hansen to be his girlfriend at Henry Doorly Zoo, the couple returned and made their way to the aquarium. In front of an audience of adorable penguins, Tyler got down on one knee and asked Brie to marry him, with the added surprise of their close friends and family waiting nearby to celebrate. When planning their wedding, Brie desired an elegant affair and knew she wanted a pop of color. Her event designer, AZ + Co., suggested they incorporate Pantone’s 2024 Color of the Year: Peach Fuzz. Contrasted by bridesmaid dresses and reception décor in various shades of sage green that beautifully complemented the Holland Performing Arts Center, the peachy color stood out against the muted tones of the invitations, welcome signage and other stationery. Among the guest tables, floral arrangements elevated on glass pillars added dimension and height to the space in comparison to the simple yet perfect bud vases and stems that lined the head table—jaw-droppingly delicate with its green and white patterned tablecloth, coordinating gauze linens and romantic taper candles. A golden dessert display stood tall and enticing as it held an assortment of Crumbl cookies. Musical tributes played an important role in the beginning of their new lives together as husband and wife. In addition to a cover of “Lucky” by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat sung by her brother and sister-in-law during the unity ceremony, when the newlyweds took to the dance floor for their first dance, Tyler surprised Brie with his recorded cover of Noah Reid’s “Simply the Best,” dedicating the song to his gorgeous bride. — Kaitlyn Meehan

Amy Day and Chase Gregerson’s playful romance was full of exciting moments worthy of a classic novel from day one. The couple met through a mutual friend who was determined to set them up for months, eventually succeeding by double-booking plans so Amy and Chase were both invited to the same outing. “It was the perfect setup,” Amy said. “He asked me out soon after, and we’ve been inseparable ever since.” Exactly a year later, it was Chase who surprised Amy when he told her they would be going to an awards dinner for work—except the celebration, filled with candles and photos of each other, was for their engagement. For their wedding, the couple planned an elegantly joyous celebration at Zenia. A pale neutral color palette with hints of beige and soft candlelight contributed to the charming modern design. Immediately after being announced as husband and wife, a surprise burst of sparkling confetti rained down on the couple, adding to the excitement. During the reception, orange candles and other autumn tones complemented the whites and grays of the venue, building a cheery atmosphere. Soft pink flowers mixed with other natural hues of pale brown, white and sage green in every vase. Vibrant, stunning colors and intimate candlelight made Jillian Pannell and Kevin Willmer’s wedding ceremony a timeless and deeply personal celebration. Although the couple went to the same high school in Cheyenne, Wyoming, it was not until 10 years later, when they went out for drinks with one of Jillian’s co-workers, that the stars finally aligned. Kevin and Jillian adored the boutique hotel, Hotel Deco, from their first visit, and soon decided the city would make for an ideal destination wedding, being equidistant from their family in Wyoming and Minnesota. The couple reserved the Rockefeller Room in the venue for an intimate ceremony with their immediate family and one best friend each. Inspired by the beautiful mural within the space, Blue Fern Event Florals chose décor to create a brilliant contrast with the dark hues of the moody space. By mixing aesthetics from several decades—Art Deco wallpaper, sparkling disco balls and deep, rich colors—the ceremony evoked a truly unique atmosphere. Jillian and Kevin incorporated a ring warming ceremony into the celebration, a tradition that originated in Ireland in which each guest gave well wishes and advice as the rings were passed around the room. The bride also attached a Norwegian Solje pin to her bouquet, which was a symbol of heritage and ancestry gifted to Jillian by her mother-in-law. After the tearful and moving ceremony, the party moved to Dolce Omaha for the reception where everyone was treated to a carefully crafted 5-course meal and shared the joy of each other’s company. — Jasmine Shackleford
