Most other businesses in the stone industry specialise in one particular offering but our range of scope gives us this unique contribution to the design team. DOING THE IMPOSSIBLE
The impossible is possible with the right team collaborating around the table. When the merchant, the designer, the fabricator, the installer and the maintainer are all involved at the early stages of the seemingly impossible concept, the brief can be brought to reality.
Stone is the most versatile material in the world, only limited by the ability of the team working with it.
CONCEPTS & PROPOSALS
From a very simple brief, ‘Stone Assist’ can produce a mood board displaying colours, textures, materials and budget prices, suitable for your particular project.
GEOGRAPHICAL SOURCING
Whilst local stone is the best for environmental measures, we are familiar with quarry owners all over the world and have access to all major natural stone supply chains.
STONE SAMPLES
We can provide samples in a variety of different module sizes and different finishes, ie honed, flamed, shot blasted etc.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION
Our samples will be accompanied by technical specifications detailing all the main elements that you will require to make and informed decision.
BUDGET PRICING
Following the selection of stone type, a budget price can be provided including shipping and local deliveries.
DETAILED DESIGN
Often the stone feature is not as easily created as what the designer initially assumes. Tolerances and machine capabilities have to be considered as does the buildability.
VALUE ENGINEERING
As we revise the design, its not just the aesthetic that are considered. From a fabrication view we are attempting to produce it quick, saving in costs, produce it at source, reducing waste and producing in as few elements as possible, reducing time.
LOGISTICS
Time scales are often the most difficult part of the projects, so ‘Stone Assist’ help with logistics for the raw materials from quarry to fabrication is as valuable as is the transport to site in a timely fashion for installation.
INSTALLATION
Advising on the optimum thickness, considering the bedding and fixing method, and also the appropriate sizes depending if the stone is man handled or what type of machine or equipment is available on site.
MAINTENANCE
No material is maintenance free. Whilst stone is easily maintained, Stone Assist can advise on the frequency, intensity and whether any chemical or abrasive techniques are required or not.
LIFE CYCLE COSTS
Is it more efficient to buy a hard granite from Portugal with reasonable shipping costs but with a high material cost or a less expensive (but more porous) granite from China with higher shipping costs? The life cycle costs over just a 5 year period may change the decision!
RESTORATION
Years of experience in interior stone and façade restoration has taught us that not every stone behaves the same and not every location has the same climate or impacting sources.
