LETTER FROM THE ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER LETTER FROM THE ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER
by irecinos1013
Welcome to the Spring 2023 edition of the Jersey Village Parks and Recreation Play Guide! I hope you all enjoyed our winter activities and events, we are excited for this coming spring and summer season!! Our highly anticipated Founders’ Day event planning is in full swing as well as our July 4th celebration. Fireworks and entertainment have been secured! We are excited to share our improvements with you all. We have added a few more rides and experiences for founders day and we have implemented all feedback we have received. We are excited to announce that the Chili Cookoff will include a people’s choice option this year so that our community can participate. We have also added a few quick food options and spread out the event to eliminate the eating area congestion so we hope you all will enjoy the additional space. You are the voice; you are the end user and that will always be our driving factor. We welcome all feedback, and we will do our best to implement as much as we can. We pride ourselves on offering excellent community experiences and aim to harness our residents’ passion for Jersey Village. We love to celebrate our city and that includes all of our businesses, residents, clubs, schools, groups, etc. We are always in need of volunteers so please send anyone looking to get involved our way
We are excited to share that our headliner for our July 4th show will be the famous Tribute to George Straight cover band featuring Derek Spence and the Southern County Line. This family event will run similar to last year and we are excited for another amazing night!

Another improvement that we are excited to roll out this coming season involves our Amilia SmartRec integration into our pool operation. We have already started building our staff for this coming season and we are integrating an access point at our pool that will streamline pool day pass purchasing, season pass purchasing, pool access, and even the introduction of merchandise and snacks! This will provide some self-service options, if desired, and increase our customer service at the pool. We will now be able to accept card payments at the pool and our staff will be able to provide you with same day season passes on your phone! Pool access will run like a gym with the option to scan in and out which will help monitor attendance as well as add an additional safety feature. The diving board has been replaced and will be ready for pool season, however, we will be implementing maximum weight of 250 pounds on each pool amenity moving forward as recommended by the manufacturer. We ask our residents to be mindful and to police themselves on this rule and we will defer to our Pool managers to use their best judgement if an issue arises
I ask that you spend some time getting to know our new registration software SmartRec as this will help streamline all your registration needs for upcoming events, programs and the pool season If you have any questions, the SmartRec website offers an info page that teaches users how to best use the software to fit their needs and of course our staff is always here to help.
We are continuously aiming to improve our experiences and upgrade our facilities as well and we are proud to share the upcoming approvements. Our Jersey Meadow Golf Club division has continued its work on the design of the new clubhouse, and we are excited for what’s to come Staff has ordered custom park benches, tables and garbage cans for all parks an they are on track to arrive this coming season. We are also moving forward with the replacement of the wood sandbox levy at Carol Fox Park, and we will be replacing it with concrete to increase safety and sustainability We will also work on the sand area, replacing the sand with a higher quality, adding new sand play features as well as a shade structure. We are excited to elevate this popular play feature to a new level
We are prepared for this coming season and we will continue to innovate and adapt while aiming to provide the best experiences for our residents I encourage you to reach out to myself or any of our staff if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions as we continue to make Jersey Village an exciting place to live, work, and play
Sincerely, Assistant City Manager
