Look Before You Book

With increased demand on the passport services as travel becomes an option in many places, here are some things to replacement: keep in mind before you book: First, check your passport is still in date. If you are renewing or applying for your passport, turnaround times vary.

Online applications: First time applicants, adult or child: 35 working days. Simple Adult Renewal: 10 working Days Complex renewals: 15 working days

Posted Applications: First time applicants, adult or child: 8 weeks.

Adult and child renewal: 8 weeks.

Lost/stolen/damaged replacement: 8 weeks.

It is advised that you do not book your holiday before your passport arrives. Note that turnaround times are estimates and are not a service guarantee.

To ensure ease with the airport experience:

• Where possible, fly from regional airport rather than Dublin. • Remember that electronics must be taken out of their bags - laptops, tablets, and game consoles such as Nintendo Switch must be placed in their own bucket at security.

• Prepack your liquids - your carry on liquids can be packed at home in a clear travel bag, and must be taken out of carry on luggage at security. These must be under 100ml. Larger liquids can be carried in check in bags.

• Check suggested arrival times - Dublin airport has a recommended arrival time of no more than 3.5hrs before your flight. With less busy airports, it is still recommended you arrive 2 hours before your flight.

• Download the app for your flight company - delays are often announced in the app, as well as giving easier access to your boarding pass.

Preparing for the airport makes the experience go much easier and leads to fewer delays for everyone.
