They’re Not Kidding Around!

“Having only registered as a food business a mere 3 months ago, everything seems like a whirlwind since. We’re astounded to be even nominated for an award, not to mention be among the final 3 in the Best Food Business category among such incredible businesses in Duhallow!! We’re so proud of what we’ve achieved to date and humbled to that people think our customers love our products that much. Thanks so much to our customers and we’re looking forward to the night out ”

Siobhán and Alan with the Dottie and Dora

Dottie and Dora’s products initially launched in July of 2023, but their story goes back much further. 10 years ago, Siobhán Ring and Alan Twomey purchased two pet goats - the titular Dottie and Doraand that started a love!

They both come from farming families, both studied agriculture, and both pursued a career in the sector - with this came a natural love and goal for the idea of their own farm. Their small scale ensures a solid foundation.

In 2022, they purchased 12 kids of a milking breed, who were hand reared from just a few days old, and those kids now product the milk for their product range! These products include pasteurised milk, three flavours of soft cheeses, and two varieties of soap, with every step done at home.

In their future, they hope to expand and make their products more widely available. To get their current point took a lot of research, discussions with experts, and of course, trial and error, but the pair now sell their products online and throughout Duhallow.

The pasteurising process

Their cheese has even made its way from Donoughmore into Kanturk, and can be found in Yumm Café’s French toast, as well as their goat milk being offered for teas and coffees.

The plan for the future is the farm to sustain two full time employees, and a herd of up to 200.
